    You inspired me. Just bought my first Nepenthes. N. ventricosa x alata. So excited to see it grow. Your videos gave me the confidence to try something I've always wanted to try.

    Hi Brad, thank you for all your videos. They're very informative and helpful. Could you give me some pointers on good dwarf or small orchids that I can use in a dart frog enclosure. Some for the foreground and some mounted on cork bark. Hi humidity 80s and 90s and temperature low to mid 70s low to mid 80s. This will be my first time so trying to incorporate orchids. I've never tried to keep them before everywhere and I'm having a hard time deciding which ones I should choose

    Nice. I have one that I've had for 5-6 years. It's still small. Pitcher size about 6 inches. Re-potted it this summer. Easy care plant.

    Hi Brad, long time. I love truncatas. That big one is nice. Funny I grow all mine lowland and they have done great too even the one sold to me as a highland. I like the idea of shocasing one species. I'm starting to think of doing videos like that because showing the whole collection as an update takes so much time. My channel still has the 15 min time limit and I tend to not watch videos longer than that anyway. So I may change up my style to feature plants not the collection. I like you're doing this. I hope to get some new nepenthes soon and start to update again.

    I have a truncata that does well in warm conditions. I like that it is more compact than some of my other nepenthes that have much longer leaves and take up so much more space. Also the pitchers are tight against the pot and very large -- big pitchers in a relatively small space.

    Thank you for sharing. It's an interesting and nice plant. What do you mean by "Highland"? Thank you

    • @Zerbirus
      @Zerbirus 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Irene Garcia lowland, intermediate, Highland and ultra Highland are the classifications of nepenthes depending on the height from sea level that they are found in and grow. Highland need lower temperatures and a 10 centigrade drop at night time and lowland like warmer temperatures and more stable during the night. Cross species of nepenthes can generally thrive in either. Truncata is usually lowland but does have a Highland species.

    I grow my truncatas on lowland condition. I live in the Philippines where these plants are endemic. I have an N. truncata "pasian" seedling, N. truncata "red flush" aka "highland" and an N truncata "yellow peristome" which is a lowlander also. They are pitchering well.

    Why don't you like it ? It's different than the other nepenthes. I like its leaves & that little parasol on top of the pitcher. I find it very cute . I do not have nepenthes, I'm now thinking about getting a truncata. Thank you for sharing.

    Hi I have a question regarding my nepenthes. I have a nepenthes truncata x thorelli and for a while it was doing really well bought it fluorescent light left in under that light for 14 hrs plus and it was producing nectar all over it from the pitchers to the leaves but I recently moved to a new location just about 25 min away from my old location and it recently had a new pitcher open as soon as it opened it stopped producing nectar in the pitchers and everywhere i still have it under the fluorescent light with the same amount of hrs since it's not fall yet and it's indoors but I have it near a window a South facing window I figured it could be humidity since we have been extremely hot temps in the the 111 degree mark so I have started misting my plant but to no avail could I be doing something wrong plant has not been near a window since I received it and the mother plant has it's a clipping of the mother plant and I live in the extreme south of Texas we are zone 9 so I was just curious as to what this means if you need pictures I will be willing to send

      @Yopapi209 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      how long have you had it in the new conditions? I have found that whenever you change a Nepenthes conditions like lighting and humidity it can take months to acclimate or adjust to the new conditions.

    • @michaelybarra9109
      @michaelybarra9109 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say about three weeks but when I was in the old location it adjusted within a month and it was ok and produced nectar I just fear that it won't make pitchers and lately what I have done is cover up my window and have just the fluorescent lights running a bit of nectar has started to be produced even in the new tendrils but idk I'm just a bit worried

    I agree with you, I don't find the large pitcher species of nepenthes very attractive, I like the smaller, more compact plants( glabrata, aristolochiodes, jamban) with more colorful and cool looking pitchers

      @Nick_Jarrett 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Predatory Plant's breeding program truncata lowland x ventricosa, will accept intermediate conditions fine, i wouldnt go under 57-59 fahrenheit nights for too long, days of 75-82f are fine, as much humidity as you can give but the ventricosa parentage will mean it wont need as much as the pure truncata to be happy. Should be a really easy plant as long as your nights dont go much lower than 75f
