Are they pictures or pitchers. I was told they are pitchers, the captions on your video spell it pictures. I saw one of these plants at Disney one time a while back I most recently had the opportunity to purchase one at a very affordable price when it arrived I was so happy when it was completely unwrapped I noticed it had a pitcher that was about an inch long at best, it is the cutest thing. Thank you for your video. I just want to make sure that I'm taking care of my starter plant correctly. It came planted in moss . Would it be better to transplant it in an orchid mix or soil prepared for cactus and when should I transplant it ? Have a wonderful New Year

They’re called pitchers and plant it in 1/3 peat moss 1/3 sand 1/3 perilite NO FERTILIZERS and use distilled water you get from the store never water it with tap

Your video couldn't have been more timely. I recently purchased a 6 in potted nepenthes for my greenhouse kitchen at the local garden centre. I needed nepenthes 101 because I really didn't know how to encourage those pitchers to grow. Now I will spray them daily as you suggested. Thank you so much.

Ventrata is indeed a REALLY fast grower. I have started about 6 new plants from my 4 year old mother plant. Very easy to start from cuttings. Also, to induce pitchering a light spray on the leaves with 1/4 strength orchid food works great every 2 weeks starting in spring.

You've got an awesome collection there. Amazing variety.
I'm considering getting a couple here. I'm in zone 4b/5a, Wisconsin. I know we have some native pitcher plants that do hibernate, but I was thinking perhaps getting something that I could keep outside with my pre-bonsai during the summer, then bring indoors during the winter. Sadly, I only have north facing windows with a 6 foot overhang outside, so the light is pretty low.

actually it does take way more care than an orchid, the guy has a greenhouse, he is lowering the plant in summer, the soil is a special mix, and as I didn't went through the whole video yet, I am sure that they need special kind of demineralized or rain water ! they are tricky as hell ! but don't feed them hamburgers !

Nice video! I wish I had a greenhouse setup like that. I'm in Alaska, so nice to know that Canada does okay with them. I have a question, I have a medium sized Ventricosa. I can't find any information online, but would you typically trim the lowest leaves that have pitchered previously and shrivelled? Does that promote better pitchering? Ps. both of my plants are windowsill growers, which I spray often.
