      I suggest get some basic camping gear first like a ground tent, mattress, portable table and chairs, a cooler, and portable cooking gear. Then after every trip, write down what you think you need and then start your upgrades from there. Keep refining your setup after every trip.

    Brilliant setup. No tyre fouling/scrubbing issues with 50mm lift for the 285/75/16s? What offset are those wheels?

    • @off-grid4x4adventure
      @off-grid4x4adventure  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Had to do a body mount chop and caster adjustment for it not to have rubbing issues. Offset is -10 and on top of that it has 25mm wheel spacers.

      Stock roof bars, Mammoth cross bars. No additional reinforcement needed 😉

      It's a Navitopia. I forgot the model but it's the one with the highest internal memory (at least at the time of purchase). It's a bit slow but works well for my purpose.

    • @off-grid4x4adventure
      @off-grid4x4adventure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No, only engine modifications are an oil catch can, and a large automatic transmission oil cooler. No horsepower modifications. The primary purpose of this vehicle is for overland trips, so reliability is more important than speed. Power is already adequate enough as it is.

    Good day sir!
    I have the same fortuner, 2006 model, 3.0 4x4
    I love your build, and I plan on overlanding as well in the future.
    May I ask, do you have lockers on your build? Or is there a factory locker? I heard that there is a center diff tho I think there aren't any lockers (forgive me as I'm not that knowledgeable haha)

    • @off-grid4x4adventure

    Hi sir I am a newbie in Overlanding and trail riding, Is it ok to use and modify my Isuzu Alterra 2012 manual transmition ? and what should be my basic mods for starters like me thank you,

    • @off-grid4x4adventure
      @off-grid4x4adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Michal, the Alterra is a good platform, albeit underrated. Should be good as an overland vehicle especially if it is a 4x4.
      As for basic mods, it would really depend on your needs. I suggest start going on trips with basic camping gear making sure you have food, water, clothing, shelter, a first-aid kit, and recovery gear. Then on every trip, list down your opportunity areas, and do your upgrades from there.
      If you have more questions as you go along in your journey upgrading your rig, feel free to ask, would be happy to help!

      @@off-grid4x4adventure greetings sir, I have sold my Alterra since it is 4x2 only, I would be buying a second hand mistubishi, 4x4, would you pfer the montero over strada? Thank you regards

      @@off-grid4x4adventure hello sir will an MT or AT matters? thank you

    • @off-grid4x4adventure
      @off-grid4x4adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@streetworks20 in front they're essentially the same vehicle. At the back is where they are different. It really depends on your needs and priorities. In a nutshell, if your priority is the ability to carry cargo, then go with the Strada. If your priority is the ability to carry more passengers or better passenger comfort, then go with the Montero.

    • @off-grid4x4adventure
      @off-grid4x4adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@streetworks20 Yes definitely. AT tires will will not wear out as fast as MT, and will perform better on long road trips and on the sand. MT tires will wear out faster and will be louder on the street, though it will perform better on forest/jungle type terrain, which is the majority of trails here in the Philippines.
      My personal preference is MT tires as the benefits of having better performance on the trail (and less chances of getting stuck) far outweighs the negatives such as loud tire noise on the street and quicker tire wear.
      But then, that's for me and my purpose and needs. It may be different for you and for others. Evaluate your needs, and go from there. Hope this helps!

      Hard to say boss, especially when there have been several iterations already before arriving at what you see in this video. For example, I already changed the suspension 4 times, I've gone through different light setups, roof setups and layouts, etc. After this video I'm changing the roof setup again... It's a process of continuously improving the rig to suit my needs and that of my family.
