  • ✔️ About the Episode:
    In this episode we are gearing up to hit the road again on our way to Mackinaw, MI. We decided that we can't leave Middlebury, IN without seeing more RV's, so we jumped in the dually and headed over to the JAYCO Visitor Center to schedule a tour. While we were there we found out a few things. First, the Visitor Center has several JAYCO units on display. It was neat to walk through different types of rigs. The second thing we learned is that you can't film a JAYCO manufacturing tour, so we were not able to show you all of the amazing things that are happening behind the scenes.
    To keep our RV exploration spirits high, we headed over to the Lazydays RV Center to walk around and see what inventory they had and peek into a bunch of incredible rigs. It's always fun to see the different floor plans and new technology.
    Finally, we hitch up and head out on our way to Michigan, but first we stopped by a local truck stop to put some air in the tires. And that is where the fun begins.

      @@discoveryboundrv I fully agree. We usually don't make food in advance either. Sometimes my wife will make something when we stop and other times we'll get lunch at the truck stop. We have a Class A and flat tow a car. Sometimes we'll pull into a big parking lot. I can have the car unhooked in under a minute and we will go to the restaurant of our choice. We have done this for dinner too. Even though we are retired my wife's health only lets us part time so we enjoy traveling through you when we have to be home. 🙂

    My trailer has a lithium battery. As such, it needed a 30 A circuit from the truck to power the necessary DC-DC charge converter. So, I wired to a new bumper outlet for this. Then I added a 4 ft plug onto the VIAIR so it can plug into the outlet as needed. The VIAIR lives in the original battery box. Very simple now to run the compressor. Never have to take it out; just attach the air hose.

    Happy new year! I really enjoy your content and been waiting for an update on your rear axle issue. The rear axle just doesn't look right in the portions of the recent videos that show the wheels of the rig. Significant negative camber can be seen in the previous video from Arcadia and in this video at 22:19 - 22:23 and 21:26-21:30. Lee, you said it is "definitely pigeon toed". That would be toe in. Pam described the negative camber perfectly with her arm position at 21:23. There's lots of weight hanging over the rear axle for tandem axles. A few infamous Northeast road bounces may have over-stressed that rear axle and bent it. Hopefully, they are 7000 pound rated axles for that large rig. Your Jayco 377RLBH has a GVWR of nearly 17,000 LBS (dry hitch weight of just over 3,000 LBS). Hopefully if it is a bent axle, Jayco and/or Lippert will replace it under warranty. You're probably reading this after the work has already been done. So, hope all has been resolved to your satisfaction.

    I would never use the brush in a carwash. You never know what it has been used for. Plus, banging the hose against the body 😖 just me.

      Same. I also don’t go through the automatic ones with those big rubber things covered in mud and gravel scraping across your clear coat. Touchless only for me.

    It may be hard to ask you this question after just visiting the Jayco visitors center but have you guys considered another brand RV or are you only a Jayco Owner?

    • @discoveryboundrv
      @discoveryboundrv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John, Great question. We aren’t brand loyal. We are RV Community loyal. The reason we picked Jayco is because of floorplan and value for the price. The 377rlbh is an amazing floorplan that is always in demand. The features that came with our model weren’t included in other brands of similar layout. If we pick another RV it will only be based on a comparison of features, build, and value. We had a spreadsheet and it was pretty clear for us which rig to choose. We have actually been looking at several new RVs from Grand Design and Alliance. We just haven’t made any final decisions yet. We are too busy traveling. 😀

      @@discoveryboundrv i get it. If a 5 wheel were in my wifes and my plans we always had a fondness for Jaycos especially the Eagle Line and the North Point with the front living room. Just curious after using one full time would you get another Jayco or something else. But not being brand loyal I see it as you would absolutely go with another Jayco but not rule out another brand. I appreciate that honesty.

    Truthfully, the caterpillars are not good for the tree canopy . It would be best if you did not reintroduce them to the woods. They are an invasive species with very large devastating numbers.

    Why didn't you use the battery in the RV?

    • @discoveryboundrv
      @discoveryboundrv  ปีที่แล้ว

      The front compartment door is a pain to open up with almost no clearance from the tailgate. It was easier to use the truck. If you look close, we even hooked up the pump backwards to the battery. We like to show all of our mistakes. At first, I was like…is this thing broke? 😀

    Killed me to see you use that car wash Brush. Those things can scratch up you truck real bad. Please don't use them again! I understand you may be in a pinch and have to use them, but at least spray it with high pressure water to try and get any debris off the brush.

      Hi Robert. LOL. When you’re right, you’re right. 😀 Maximus does all the hard work towing us around and deserves better than a Brillo Pad on a pole. You should hear the family here throwing me under the bus saying “See…I told you so!” Thanks for keeping me straight. All the best, Lee & Pam.
