Love Cyril & love the Groovies! Apart from his great guitar playing skill, his artwork is also amazing. Last saw them in May ‘22 at the 100 Club in Oxford Street with a different line up from the last time I saw them & they were absolutely brilliant… in fact it was one of the best Groovies gigs I’ve been to. Although it must be a bit of a drag financially for them that they never hit the big time, it’s quite good for fans as we can see them in small venues for a very reasonable ticket price!
The fact that "Shake Some Action" has never been a hit and yet it has been covered numerous times is a testimony to the quality of Cyril's songwriting (although the lyrics need work). "Way Over My Head" is another classic that is now being covered by The Lemon Twigs.
@@jarrettgardner0628 The lyrics are vague at best. Cyril has said he doesn't care about lyrics much and it shows. The shame is that he can write such great hooks. One of the few songwriters since the 60s that can do that. I love his stuff. First time I heard this song I borrowed the record from the owner for the whole weekend. I became addicted. "Bust at full speed" is a good line, but all the other lines kind of pale in comparison.

Cyril talks very intelligently and thoughtfully, he seems very down to earth.
