"he has never found the audience he deserves." - I think he has. It's not a huge audience, it won't mean hanging out with Branson on Necker Island, but it's an audience who knows the words and values the songwriter and the musicians he works with.

The Pale Fountains were such a massive part of my life in the early 80s.....brilliant, happy memories! The best. Loved the times we spent with these guys, Chris especially. They were super talented and should have had huge success. The band I was in was signed to Virgin around the same time, and for the same size of advance - very similar backstory going from manky rehearsal rooms and tiny wee gigs in Edinburgh to living at the Columbia Hotel in London for 3 years - we were all kind of in it together, and had a ball. Just good clean teenage fun. The most beautiful thing of all was we all genuinely took it totally in our stride. I don't think any of us had a scoobie about the size of the opportunity we had at the time. But that's the beauty of being young I guess. Great to see you again Mike. Giles (Hey! Elastica) xx

Had a friend he managed a record store in Los Angeles in the 80s we loved imported music bands back then so much but really fell in love with pale fountains sound from day one, Michael head is a total genius, still play his music today, great music just grows and grows on you over the years doesn't get stale at all like so many other bands do.

The album "The Magical World of The Strands" kicked my head, to me is one on top among the greatest albums (of course not for selling millions of copies, sadly). Mike is such a fine poet-composer, his songs touch our hearts and feelings. Love and cheers from a big fan in Argentina.

So says the deaf institute. Subjectivity is different to objectivity. You’re entitled to think “The Bay City Rollers” are great but your mistaken and wide of the mark in this opinion. There’s about 3 disillusioned and dishonest people on the planet that may say the same. You’d have a job finding them though. The La’s were musically, lyrically and quite “literally” on another planet.x
