Deliciously Moist Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

This wonderful dessert was shared by Rene Colliers Culler, who follows us on Facebook. She shared this family recipe in memory of her late mother who made this for the family all through their years growing-up. The mayonnaise adds moistness to the texture. Even though it is called a Mayonnaise Cake the recipe specifically calls for Miracle Whip. Don't let this minor detail put you off, it is a delicious cake whether you prefer Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.
This cake works with a variety of frostings. It can simply be sprinkled with powdered sugar or you can add a chocolate, vanilla or cream cheese frosting. It can be topped with Homemade Fudge Sauce or Seven Minute Frosting. The frosting can also be topped with pecans or almonds.
