There is plenty of food around for them at this time of year so I don't think we need to worry too much that they are going to starve. As you can see, they are very healthy and well fed so there is no need for them to steal from the hedgehogs. I even think it is more about claiming the territory than the actual food itself.
@@blobbertmcblob4888 - Hedgehogs are in serious decline in the UK so yes we do need to offer them good quality food and provide safe shelter when and where we can. Magpies on the other hand, they are dime a dozen so no need here to specifically target then with food.

A magpie won't appreciate your generosity, it will only mark you as a sucker who can't hide food.
