What a bas feeder

I understand birds have an excellent sense of smell and of hearing, and can also see on the ultraviolet light spectrum (bird feathers have ultraviolet light spectrum markings, apparently, which help birds identify each other). They're also smarter than a lot of people I've met. If corvids or parrots had opposable thumbs, I'm pretty sure they'd rule the world.

Humans: "Ewww! What _is_ that?!" Hedgehog: "Mmmm. Tasty. That's what it is." Nature's little vacuum cleaners. 😆

All corvids can recall so many places they have seen , cached , etc .The young magpies are trying to get a parent to do the work .They remind me of demanding children in a supermarket .Terrific footage Big Like 1....

I think he used up more calories trying to figure out how to get at the food than he got from the bits he did get. 😀

Oooooo, I think I see a bit of grey on the back of the young one. A female, then. I haven't seen grey on any magpies here in Alberta, canada. But I'll keep looking.

This youngster is doing fine .When they are young they seem to use their beak to test everything...Rather like toddlers put everything in their mouth .Enjoyed 🙂

Take more than a brick to deter these wonderful birds . Watching this was proof of determination .and the food dish was so much nearer to the entrance . Watching Magpies and Crows tells me they make more sense than many humans .
