      Not large enough, or clear enough. We have approached bat makers, and they are very particular what they use.

    Nice clean firewood Chuck nice looking ash , ash is pretty hard to get in southeast Michigan it's all dead down and rotten

      Thank you Tony. Not much good ash here. Most likely will be totally gone soon. We ha e entire areas that are bare due to the EAB killing all of them. A mixed forest is so much better for recovery.

    How does it do on some knarley wood like white oak, or elm.

      No issues at all. The big test is sycamore. That is THE worst I have ever split. Make oak and elm look like splitting clear poplar.

      Thank you very much. We have a conveyor, but it was frozen during this video.....like most everything else was. LOL. Check some of our previous videos. The conveyor works very well.

    The problem here is the split pieces are to small, burns up to quickly.

      It is small for heating wood, but these are for customers that want a fire in the fireplace, or burn pit. Just to have a nice fire. We can easily split bigger by adjusting the wedge, or swapping out for our 4 or 6 way wedge. Lots of options to please lots of customers.

    Is that multi wedge adjustable? Personally, I like my split wood a little bigger than that.

      Absolutely it is. Just move a lever to raise and lower it. These were being split for bundle wood, as requested. We still split bigger stuff for heating wood.

      That is for sure. It's a shame it will all be gone soon. A beautiful wood. We save all we can as lumber, and use what is left as firewood.

      poplar wood with bitter smoke fills your eyes and makes you choke.
      oak wood when it is dry and old will chase away the winter's cold
      apple wood will scent your room with the finest of perfume.
      ash wood wet or ash wood dry a king shall warm his slippers by.

      Thanks Doug. The client requested smaller splits on this order. We can easily adjust the wedge to cut larger. It's great that we can easily cover so many different customer requests, with just one machine.

    Those box wedge splitters sure do create a lot of waste.

      Lots of dead sap wood on these logs. Best to have it stripped off at the splitter. I look at it this way. It's an equal amount of waste, based on the amount of firewood it produced. If the firewood is piling up that fast, so does the waste. Its all comparable.

      @don christie we use a conveyor at times, and plan on installing grizzly bars to help separate the splinters. This makes wood fast. Well worth the mess, like you said.

      @@patrickkelly8095 waste is all the scraps that are not sellable and the slivers after cleaning it. Some can be fire starters- and not sure what you mean about sap wood

      These are for bundles. It's what the customers are requesting. The wedge is hydraulically adjustable, so I can make them larger when needed. We also have a 6 way and a 4 way wedge to split to the customers liking.

      You bet. All around this area have been wiped out by the emerald ash borer (EAB). We have save thousands of board feet as lumber and slabs. Some will end up as firewood if they don't meet the grade for our sawmill.

      Hello Jon. We used to think the same thing. Then we looked at cord for cord with our other wedges, and it was comparable. It just stacks up fast because the cord wood stacks up fast with the box wedge

      It took many years of splitting by hand, then with a small single wedge splitter. We were super happy when this showed up. From the time we saw it, it took 6 years before we were able to get it.
