    Remnant 2 isn't just 'more Remnant'. It's a massive expansion of the formula, adding whole new RPG, progression and procedural systems. The result is a AA entry that feels like a AAA powerhouse, and a GOTY contender at that.

      1st expansion will have unlockables to the present game and present game additions and tunings to already created items and such., 2nd will Probably be a trials DLC that will have gauntlet labyrinth runs and such like the first game, 3rd DLC will probably be a Story expansion to the game.

    Firstly, gotta say thanks to Ralph for letting Austin and I play this one. It was so much fun, Austin and I were amazed at every corner by spectacular bosses and insane environments whilst also both pissing our pants in losomn at giant rat monsters. I put in about double the hours playing as Austin did, mostly replaying levels we cleared so I could get more fat loot for testing builds and so as not to spoil the next world for myself or him. I am looking forward to our next game bud, but also just diving in and exploring more worlds and puzzles, and of course, 3 DLCs? Bet your ass we're doing those!!

    It is worth mentioning that you can learn a fair bit about the main plot of the first game through talking with NPCs in Ward 13. There is quite a bit of dialogue to listen to, sometimes it can feel like too much but it can be worth your time and I find the voice acting to be consistently good across the board with many of the actors sounding quite invested in their performance in ways few are in higher budget titles.

      @fyrein2236 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@originalityisdead.9513 It's unfortunate that you're having performance issues but sadly that's the reality of modern PC gaming. Devs can try their hardest to make it run as best as possible on a variety of hardware but there's truly an astonishing amount of hardware combinations that people might have, so they can't account for everything right away, they can only try and fix problems as they arise.
      That's not to say that's the only reason a game might be running poorly, though; you're definitely right that this particular game runs a bit ass sometimes for me and others, even with beefy setups.

    Man, one of my friends and I had to struggle through a puzzle. We found a room with 3 levers, 3 doors (one of which was collapsed), and pulling the levers moved a bunch of things that casted shadows on the floor. Our goopy goblin gamer brains immediately pulled all the levers upon seeing them. After that we found the journal listing the clues to the puzzle. We had to piece together how the puzzle worked where if we had paid attention to how it was initially set up it would have showed up how the puzzle worked.
    10/5 puzzle design. They knew idiots would immediately pull those levers and fall into a trap. Favorite puzzle in the game.

    The game is overall great and a step up from the original, I highly recommend it, but it does have have a few issues:
    -optimization is sketchy
    -no crossplay
    -some fairly notable issues with the progression/trait/buildcrafting/resource economy in this one
    The devs have already responded to these issues on Reddit and discord so I’m hopeful the game is going to get even better, but do be warned it might not be what you remember from Remnant 1 in some ways. It doesn’t quite come together like they were probably hoping.

    I found most bosses extremely unfair in veteran mode but that led to me and my friends being stuck on bosses for hours having to develop strategies to make the most out of our archetypes and improve our teamwork. This only made finally defeating the bosses very rewarding and turning it into a celebration with your friends. Play this with friends if you can

    • @doomdoot6731
      @doomdoot6731 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only boss I actually found unfair on Vet (in my campaign, so first playthrough) was the final one. All the others were mostly fine, just, well...hard. Although I've now hit upon Abomination (one of the bosses shown in the vid) with Hearty and Empathy on Nightmare Difficulty and by god that is just brutal.
      That being said, the mutators on bosses and elites can make for a really fun strategic element. Especially once the boss hits the Empathy mutator and you somehow have to communicate to your randos to not use Relics to heal.

      @Lemoncit0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@doomdoot6731 unfair doesn't necessarily mean hard. The bosses were hard but not as hard as some souls bosses. By unfair I mean there were a lot of attacks that you cannot dodge and sometimes it's impossible to revive a teammate because the boss is following your friend on the floor

    Awesome review by Austin. Ralph has his work cut out for him going forward 😂.
    That said three points I'd like to add:
    1. You can multiclass once you get 10 "trait points" that you can earn through various means in the game such as picking up a book. Multiclassing is freely done at will because you just switch out an item. You can do this out in the field during a fight if you're fast enough even. Unlocking different classes is also super easy.
    2. The game is 100% playable solo even without the Handler class that has the dog able to revive you. It's just a bit harder.
    3. Look everywhere. If there's a room with nothing seemingly in it double check. This game has awakened my childhood love of searching every corner and picking everything up.
    10/10 game is on my constant rotation along with Exoprimal.

    • @Zach-wu8vz
      @Zach-wu8vz ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the hidden class thing is problematic. I don't see most people wanting to play through this more than one or two times, and even if you do find the hidden class you want in one of those playthroughs, you prolly won't have it fully leveled until the very end. At that point most people will be done with the game.

    • @dembolicalk229
      @dembolicalk229 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zach-wu8vzI think you are very naive if you think most will only play 1 - 2 times through, this game has way more incentive for multiple playthroughs than a vast majority of games. Not to mention once you discover a class you can start as that class on a new character, so if you want a fresh playthrough with a new play style it's easy to do, especially since guides exist. There are hundreds of hours of content just in the base game and three dlc's are coming.

    Nice review. One of the best published on this channel. It took me around 30 seconds to realize that Ralph wasn't introducing Austin's video. My mind was clouded by the accent. It'd be nice if this became a regular feature.
    Regarding the story, I enjoyed it, although I wanted more. Some of the stories in the individual worlds are rich and intertwined with the overarching story. I enjoy the lore. Like Austin, I found the ending confusing. I'm not sure I can say more without spoilers. After the end was when a bad game decision took place, as you're sent back to a save with no explanation. I honestly thought my game bugged out. Just a pop-up message or single line of dialog would've cleared this up. Typing of bugging out, I only encountered one issue throughout the game, which was that the red crystals would stop working. Exiting to the main menu and reentering the game corrected the issue (temporarily).
    Aside: Dodging has different levels, depending on the weight... and both the weight and capability can be adjusted by - other means.
    This is definitely GOTY material for me. I'm now playing through the first (well, second... ha) game and plan to return to this when I'm done. Looking forward to the DLCs!

    As someone who has never played a souls game, I was really skeptical of this, but I gave it a try anyway.
    I was incredibly surprised on just about every aspect of the game...
    - Combat is satisfying and punishing as hell, your skill matters more than your equipment.
    - The scenery is absolutely stunning, I was not expecting such beautiful game to run this well. (disclaimer, I did just buy a 4090)
    - And the secrets... I fucking adore the devs for implementing this many secrets, knowing full well that 95% of the players won't find most of it, including entire classes.
    This feels like the gaming culture of years gone by...
    This is what old games used to feel like, it was hard and skill was paramount, all while leaving secrets and hints for the dedicated fans.
    And NO Micro-Transactions, it just feels like the devs respect the player.
    I did not think this would keep my attention, but 30+ hours played in 4 days suggests otherwise.
    (My first play-through was on veteran difficulty, played solo as hunter. I would recommend a different class for first solo, but I would stick to veteran because it felt right)
    *Chefs kiss* Well done Gunfire Games, you nailed it.

You just stand there waiting for the host to finish. Also, that ammo drops are not shared. The last is a small gripe. Gonna be trying co-op soon, but that's what I've read in reddit. The game is definitely stunning from what I've seen so far. :)

    Dodge rolling is dependent on your weight, like a Souls game. If you go light weight you can panic roll yourself out quite easily if that's your thing. You will also get more traits, rings and amulets that will impact your rolling and sprinting. I have a very fast character, were I really do feel the difference between sprinting or not :)
    There are also many, many secrets. From illusory walls, to items (quest or gear items) you use at specific locations that open up secrets that lead to new weapons or other loot (even lead to new archetypes).
    They even included an archetype that intentionally had to be unlocked by dataminers, because the specifics you need to unlock it are so wild no one could've ever found it naturally in game.
    This game is awesome. You'll keep coming back for many, many playthroughs.

    Alright, you have convinced me to push through. I bought the game on launch and put about 8 hours or so in, but didn't continue. I am a solo player and considering its a "soulslike" title and me thinking I am awesome, I obviously went for nightmare difficulty. In general, I feel that a game really shows how good it is by seeing how it feels on the hardest difficulty since it will obviously be more frustrating to play sometimes but if the game is so well made that your deaths are your fault, you can accept the deaths and know that by repetition and patience you will get through. Well, I didn't really feel this way with this game. Mostly because in my admittedly short period with the game i really felt like this game wasn't meant for solo play. Taking agro from all enemies on and off screen having no real indication when something is fired at me off screen resulting in me losing about half my health bar was frustrating. It made a lot of the encounters with multiple enemies feel more dependent on chance than skill, just hoping I didn't get hit from somewhere I couldn't see. I did start out on gunslinger and have switched to handler which does a help a bit but I don't think that if you play solo on the hardest difficulty you are basically limited to one class is good game design but alright. Its my first encounter with a mini boss that really just tired me out and removed any urge to play the game. I ran into the hooded "humanlike" boss that fires exploding arrows and also teleports in and out of the arena hitting you with his bladelike thing. The boss itself wasn't hard really. Its moveset is quite limited and I felt like I had a good grip on him really quickly. The thing that just made it exhausting and what made it take me so long is the immense health pool and on top of this he heals himself slowly throughout the entire fight. The length of the fight along with the hard hitting when I did get hit made me furious. I felt like I had this boss down but concentrating and trying to make zero mistakes for minutes and minutes on end was just not fun. Making the game more difficult by simply increasing the damage of every hit and making the bosses bullet sponges is a terrible way of increasing difficulty imo. On top of all this crap, the game runs like ass for me. I have a 2070 super and an I7 9700K which isn't top of the line but its still a good bit above the average gaming pc today and having to run this game on dlss performance with everything on low while stil not even getting 60 fps in mini boss encounters is mind boggling to me. Despite all this, your review has somehow got me a little excited again so thanks for that, the puzzles and the environments are something i would to explore so goddamit I am pushing through. I will probably reduce the difficulty a bit and hopefully when i get a bit further and my build becomes more viable it gets to a point where I will enjoy myself. Thanks for the great vid! Good job Austin !
