    TLDR
    1. No vape holders.
    2. Can't blast my dubstep so loud my vision blurs.
    3. Not 90s enough for my hair style.
    4.Can only angle the wheels in 15 degrees. Need that stance, bro.
    5. Not enough Vtec.

    Definitely agree on with you on the poor quality of the sound system, and the amount of road noise I can hear while driving. Good video man!

    I agree with you on the three points interior noise and turbo lag. The car struggles on city driving, once it gets above 45 it’s fine but very noticeable 0-45

      Honda is well know for road noise! As if you guys haven' t own a Honda before?
      The stereo part, I agree. My nephew 2006 Accord LX has better sound system then my 2015 Accord.

    Got the 2018 Accord 2.0T Sport. Sound system isn't the best but it is still great. Volume pushes to 40 but I never go above 30 as its too loud. So I don't hear any distortion. Purchased songs versus ripped songs perform MUCH better. Never heard the swishing sound but turbo actually sounds incredible. The car does not feel as fast as my old 3.5L V6 BUT when I do the math and count my 0-100, the results prove me wrong. I was driving an older Toyota Avalon 3.5 V6. I was getting 0-100 in like 8.5 seconds. Mind you its older, heavier etc. But I'm pushing 0-100 6 seconds flat. One thing I don't like is the amount of wheel spinout. Definitely reduces how quickly I am able to accelerate from flat. However, lets not forget, this isn't a true sports car. For what I paid, I can truly say, I am very happy. Stop wanting M3 performance from your new accord. Its awesome that you got a new car, congrats about that! But don't forget, you got an awesome reliable car with some great features. Love it for that!

    i agree about the sound system, rattling noise and also when my accord sites outside in the worm weather the dashboard ( specially above the string wheel )sounds like some one pilling the velcro straps. i did take it to Honda dealer ship where i got the car from and they could not able to figure it out where this noise is coming from.

    I have owned/driven Honda automobiles for over 25 years. I will only drive a Honda. I am very loyal to brand. Picked up a 2018 Accord LX about a month ago. Not a big fan of the exterior styling, particularly the rear of the car, but my LX is possibly the smoothest, most comfortable Honda I have owned. No complaints thus far with the driving characteristics of the car.
    My only complaint is that the information screen (radio) on the US version of the LX is NOT a touch screen. It does nothing except display the radio station, adjust settings and display a clock. From what I understand, the Sport and Touring models comes with touch screens and Apple car play but not the LX model. This seems like a cheap out on Honda's part. I can't imagine that the price difference between the two systems are that much. 50 bucks maybe? Touch screen should standard on all models.

    So I have a 2018 Accord Touring 2.0t and it has a 450 watt sound system and it's really good! Sounds just as good or better than my sisters 2016 BMW 320i! If you care that much upgrade to the EX-L for premium sound!

    • @markz5505
      @markz5505 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 2018 EX-L with a 2.0t it also has the 450 watt sound system. The clarity is excellent until you get above 30 on the volume control, then distortion sets in. I am really not complaining, just stating the facts.....

    Not mentioned here but on the Honda forum. The hood is very thin and not properly supported. It buffets in the wind and flashes the sun reflection in your eyes. This is common to all 2018 Accords. If you want power, get the 2.0 and do the Hondata ECU flash. You get a huge improvement in torque and up to 50 more horsepower.

    Gas Swish: I heard my gas swish around in the tank on my 2004 Accord EX-L, so that's not new. Next: Rattle: I had a rattle in my dash towards the driver's door - took me MONTHS to isolate it. It's a flimsy piece of plastic in the driver's foot well - towards the gas pedal. I stuffed a folded up paper towel in there - no more rattle. Still, disappointing that I had to do this to a new car - and a Honda no less! I wasn't comfortable taking the car to the dealership and letting them tear down the dash to locate the rattle...
    Anyone else's parking sensors go crazy while sitting at a stop light with other cars around? Waiting for a firmware update to come out to address that...
    You're the ONLY TH-cam video that I've found on how to change the engine oil. THANK YOU!

    I have the 2.0 Sport AT. Can’t agree with much on your list, except for road noise. But with low profile tires, I’d expect as much. Especially on concrete roads. The stereo isn’t anything special, but it’s not horrible. I turned up the bass level and it made the sound rich enough for casual listening. You should have noticed the audio quality before you purchased; I did.
    The car is overhyped, and the shape isn’t for everyone, but it’s a great value for everything included for the price. I hope you can enjoy your Accord even with these 5 shortcomings

    I own 2.0T sport and the turbo lag is felt but not any worse than expected. I think the hire torque ratio makes all the difference. I agree with the sound system and I am also getting noise on the interior. More than I would like sometimes but I wanted the 19” with a lower profiles for the look so I will take the good with the bad.

    • @garageprojects8175
      @garageprojects8175  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My 2018 Camry sound system is really nice... Always been surprised by how good Toyotas stock systems are. Very balanced and crisp.
    Road noise is non existent. Even on my sport trim. Hearing gas is... Really weird.
    No turbolag is what I love about Toyotas engines. Just press and go. You might need a tune.
    Will say the Camry interior is about the same. It's sportier (bucket seats stabdard and stuff) but vibrations and noise happen in the Camry too. Had some parts replaced and tightened at the dealer for free though.
    Yep...been waiting since September last year to even get hands in trunk mats for my 2018 Camry.
    Love your honesty.

    • @MegaTechpc
      @MegaTechpc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had the ML system in my 2013 GS350 and it was exceptional, so I agree Toyota makes some good audio systems. I disagree about the v6 though. The 2.0t Accord with the 10-speed is faster than your Camry and that's just a fact. 0-60 in 5.5 sec and a 1/4 mile trap speed of over 100 mph; those are near-sports car numbers. The "lag" hes whining about is because he has the eco-1.5 liter mated to a horrible cvt. The 2.0t has no lag at all.

    • @direfranchement

      I like the Fender system in my 2016 VW Passat SEL. One of the reasons I chose that trim level.

      @MegaTechpc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      direfranchement I haven't gotten to sample the Fender system in the VW but I would say that most signature sound systems in cars today are pretty good. Just a massive improvement over sound systems from a couple decades ago.

  • @DaddyDoesItt
    @DaddyDoesItt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Reason why there’s such a noticeable lag, has to do with the cvt transmission as well. The lag isn’t as bad on the 2.0t with the 8speed automatic transmission

    2017 looks better imo. I hate how the new civics and accords look like hatch backs. The 18 accord looks like a stretched out hatchback version of the civic. 2017 had a WAY better shape and the lights in the back are nice looking only thing I give the 1up to the 18 is the interior. I feel bad for ppl who buy touring models because they spend so much more for minimal improvements.

    • @serenityinsilence
      @serenityinsilence 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a 2015 accord and I hated it. I actually think the new accord looks great in person. It reminds me of a samurai from the front, and has good body lines. Plus I love the led headlights. If I bought one I’d go for the 2.0T. The 1.5T probably feels like it has a ton of turbo lag because of the cvt transmission. That was my biggest pet peeve with my 2015. It had absolutely no jump off the line and felt sluggish no matter how fast I was going. Cvt transmissions are the worst.

    • @MegaTechpc
      @MegaTechpc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a fastback design, following the Euro brands like Audi's A7 or BMW's 440GC. I think you need glasses tbh, the new Accord is very sleek, low and long. The 2017 looks absolutely ancient when sat next to the 2018.

    Not sure why the TD's. The Civic forums are fully of posts about rattling, and the bad audio quality, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Accord is the same. Two other Accord to Camry videos I've seen say the Camry is quieter. And a few people have mentioned lag with the 1.5T Civic, but it can be tuned to help that. So you're mentioning of all these things is believable.
    Although the interior looks pretty nice to me, and gas sloshing isn't worth mentioning. My old Civic did the same. It does have a gas tank, with gas in it.

  • @torqueluvr

    I'm surprised the radio was that much of an issue; car radios were almost all crap when I was younger, but most of the recent model cars I've driven with radios I disliked had one specific issue, like door-mounted tweeters that were too raspy, or bass speakers in small sealed enclosures that created muddy resonances. If the largest speakers are mounted on the decklid, using the trunk as an enclosure, I seldom have a lot of complaints. As for turbo lag, I guess they still haven't gotten it down to the point where it's not noticeable, but the only car in which it really bothered my was a Saab with a manual transmission; nothing worse that trying to work a clutch with an engine that has no starting torque, and that Saab had kind of a high first gear. Anyway, it would be nice if they could put some kind of electric preboost on turbos to make the lag a non-issue. I assume that will be easier one more cars are sold as "light hybrids".

  • @damacknificent151
    @damacknificent151 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    We had a 2016 civic ex-t. It also suffered from dash rattles especially in winter. Also the honda sensing was annoyingly intrusive. Sometimes it would alert me to brake when there was nothing there. My wife just got a 2018 toyota camry xse 4cyl . It has a new 8 speed and i feel it gear hunts a lot plus the car is rated at 29 city 39 highway. That's bull. I will give toyota a thumbs up for the solid build. No rattles even when hitting pot holes is quiet. Nothing feels cheap inside. Just annoyed by the fake mpg and 8speed always down shifting

    Your right the main issue being the 1st year for the 2.0 and 10 speed trans, hopefully honda solved any long term reliability problems, the main one being direct injection turbo engine carbon build up, which has afflicted all manufacturers with problems early on.

    I just got a 2020 lx and things haven't changed:
    -A lot of noise is heard from the rolling.
    -the audio system is not good (maybe it is because of the version you bought, but there are many brands at a lower price with better audio systems)
    - The third and most worrying is that when accelerating and decelerating, I have felt a kind of jerkiness of the transmission, I have seen some videos that talk about CTV, I am waiting to get to the first service to review this matter....it worries me
    !

    I own an 2007 Acura RL with 225k miles, recently I was thinking of trading it in for a new 2018 Accord and went and actually bought it. The more I drove the Accord I felt the exact same issues in it that you just mentioned in this video. Too much exterior noise, turbo lag and poor interior quality etc. I took the Accord right back in and demanded my Acura back, I was lucky because they agreed. When I drove my Acura RL, I fell in love with its serene quiet ride, it's high build quality all over again. An 11 year old car with 225k miles is better then this new Accord.

    Whats crazy is I really miss my 2013 Honda Accord EX-L but watching this video has brought back memories of things I really hated with it. The sound sucks!!! I had to put a sub and new speakers in it. Then the road noise was terrible too I remember hating that. It was so loud. The camry is so much more quiet than the accord. I will say I loved my fuel economy of the accord and the way it drove. I still can't believe after 5 years people are still complaining about the same stuff.

    As a 2018 Honda Accord sport owner, I would have to agree the sound system is beyond crap! I regret not getting the touring model for the upgraded speakers but I also have not heard the best things about them either.

    Are you on driveaccord.net? 1) The stereo in my 2.0L is sounding better after 3,000 miles, possibly it's upgraded over the 1.5L. 2) I agree on the wind noise. I had the dealer replace the plastic windshield trim piece on the driver side A-pillar because it seemed loose, the noise is now worse after getting the car back. Going to have them look at it again. It's possible all the wind noise is coming from these pieces on either side of the windshield. 3) Gas sloshing around, nope not heard this on my car when pulling in the garage. 4) Interior fit & finish is without a doubt the best in any Accord so far, to me it's near the quality of an Audi interior. No creaks or rattles on my car. 5) As you know, info will come with time. Nobody should really expect a lot of aftermarket parts for a 1.5T Accord. More go fast parts will be geared towards the 2.0T. As for turbo lag, again, not noticeable on the 2.0T with the 10-spd Auto, but don't confuse the slight sluggishness of a CVT with turbo lag or engine management. On my car, the throttle mapping is such that in normal more the car is only moderately responsive, in ECO mode it's less responsive, and in Sport mode it responds as I would expect a car that dyno's 265hp should. However, I don't like having to switch into Sport mode each time I start the car. I'm looking seriously at the Hondata or Kpro flash for the Accord Sport 2.0T. So for me, the only real complaint I have is the wind noise, which I think can be improved. If the dealer can make worse by "fixing" a problem, I have hope that it can be made better with a little garage engineering.

  • @eccoasters8664
    @eccoasters8664 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most of the "turbo lag" is because of the cvt. Cvts don't have that initial throttle response like the manual or the 10 speed auto. Last gen with the 2.4 had that lag even though it was naturally aspirated

    I agree with much of what you say. The sound system IS very disappointing for sure. My previous car was a 2013 Toyota Corolla, and that roller skate had a much nicer sounding stereo. The AM radio tuner sounds particularly bad. Go ahead and scoff, but there's some good stuff on AM and AM can actually sound pretty good with a quality receiver -- unlike the one on the Accord. The stereo sounds best when it's playing streaming audio like iHeartRadio or Google Music.

    Until my lower back gave out and I had to have surgery- I detailed cars as a second job. I got to drive a lot of different cars and got to know them inside and out. I would rate Toyota slightly above Honda in holding up over time. I’ve seen too many Honda’s with faded interiors and paint that had clear coat failure. But, that said, I bought my youngest daughter a 2014 Civic EX-L and we baby it. Always garage kept and washed/wax often (wife helps now). So I would say Honda’s need more TLC than Toyota - but at least they hold their resale value.

    I bought a 2018 Camry hybrid about 4 months ago. The only thing I don’t like about the car is my phone slides all around the charging pad and off the contact, I fixed that myself with a little trick. Low road noise, great quality interior, excellent sound system . I have Averaged 49 mpg . I have not had a single problem with the car. When I bought the car gas prices were low and they were giving great incentives. I have never owned a Honda, I’m sorry but I have always felt they were cheap inside. Some people swear by Honda’s , but I have known severAl people with them and they have had a lot of issues, on par with a domestic car. I would take the car to the dealer about the gas sloshing around , sounds like they left a baffle out of the gas tank when they made it. Trade it in on the Camry , no turbo lag! Turbos are nothing but a problem waiting to happen!!!

  • @MrGunzngirlz

    1 surprises me because Honda sound sytems are typically brilliant. Get Hertz speakers, they're phenomenal and will produce the chrisp sound you want.
    2 is funny because I find that modern cars are too isolated from the road for my liking. I've experienced being able to hear fluids in plenty of other cars. Doesn't bother me.
    3 Flashpro. That's all. It will solve everything. I think Honda wanted something more restrained and fuel efficient from the turbo engines, that's why they're tuned that way. But Hondata Flashpro gets rid of the lag.
    4 really surprises me because Hondas build quality is typically brilliant with no rattles to speak of. That's been my experience with my FA5 Si, TL, and CRV anyway. Nothing is stopping you from going in with some tools and tape to hunt down the rattle if it bothers you that much. That's what I'd do anyway.
    5 I'm sure you know this already, but get on those forums. They hold all the answers and let you know when new aftermarket parts are available. If you want a CAI now, you could pretty easily fabricate one or you could try and fit one designed for the Civic Si.

    I didnt see anything wrong with the sound system, it's not full of bass for sure, but you're getting a Honda, they're not putting money into speakers, they put it into powertrain R&D and try to make it as reliable as possible. All the other stuff is just nit picky, and with a full redesign it wont be perfect with noises in the cabin because it is a FULL REDESIGN. Plus you got the sport? You know those are low profiles right? I think its an amazing car and you get what you pay for and I would be very happy with it. Dont forget about voiding the warranty by the way when you start putting aftermarket on a new car.

    I just took delivery on a new Accord EX-L and so far share none of your objections. I do keep in mind, however, that it's a $30,000 sedan and not a $60,000 sedan. I rarely use the radio so the sound system isn't a factor and on a 200 mile trip yesterday didn't notice turbo lag and found the ride to be pretty quiet, depending on the type of road surface. The only thing I don't like is the seating position but it's not a Honda problem, it's a trend in all new sedans. The cars are lower and therefore the seating position is lower but I knew that when I bought the car. All in all, after a pretty short time, I find the car to be an all around winner for the price.

I hear it in my 2018 Accord, my wifes 2018 Equinox, heard it in my 2015 Silverado, hear it in my inlaws 2016 Silverado. Of course youre going to hear liquid moving around in tank when there is minimal noise from other things. Just like if you shook water in a bottle or jug (thats not filled to the brim and sealed).
    I do not hear any clicking in mine
    The sound is poor but isnt terrible. Made a few adjustments to fade, mid, bass, and treble + adjusting equilizer on my ipod helped. Also songs ive paid for on itunes sound a hell of a lot betre than ones ive downloaded randomly over the years

    I would look at the 2019 Jetta when it comes out it will have a longer wheelbase and more cabin room. If that doesn't do it then look at the Passat but for you and your size I think the Jetta will be fine. VW does well with turbos I believe they mount them right on the intake manifiold which helps reduce lag. They come off the line quick. Watch the Passat vs the Sonata, despite a 75hp difference it gets out in front of the Sonata which takes too much spool time. Passat is 200lbs lighter also. The VW's will give you a better ride than the Accord especially the Passat.

      I have a 2019 Accord Touring Hybrid and I absolutely hate the car. Stereo sucks. It's ridiculous how much it sucks. I get irritated knowing what a song SHOULD sound like when I hear it in this car. Tried making adjustments with the settings, but it's no better. It is painfully boring to drive. The touring's adaptive suspension is like driving a floaty old GM car from the 70s or 80s. Putting the car in sport mode - which seems counter to the point of a hybrid - makes no noticeable change in the adaptive suspension. I expected a lot more from an Accord, given how much the automotive press raves about it as well as previous ownership experience with a 2001 Accord Coupe EX-L . It actually is quiet inside. The seats are not comfortable. The seat cushion is too short. I cannot find a comfortable position no matter how much I try. The trim piece on the outside base of the door window sills is so cheap it feels like it will fall off when I touch it with the window down. Same experience in a 2019 Sport loaner from the dealership - that car was LOUD (engine, road and outside noise and equally terrible stereo). The touring appears to be much better insulated. The Honda Sensing is WAY too sensitive. Going around turns on the freeway, if traffic is too heavy, it will jab the brakes HARD or flashes at me to brake when there's no one near being close in front of me. It's incredibly annoying and VERY unnerving when it happens. Doesn't change behavior if I set to different car length distance when using adaptive cruise. The point is that it should take the stress out of driving. I can do better on my own, if it weren't for the false alarms from lane departure. I really do regret buying this car. I've had it for two months. I absolutely hate it.

    The taillights are the worst part honestly. I am vinyl wrapping them but will hopefully purchase new ones when they come out. Along with an intake.
