    Hey guys! I totally forgot to mention the kit I used in this video is in the video description, I HIGHLY recommend it, comes with the upgraded axle seals and trunions!

    I'm dealing with this on my 93 4 Runner but noticed all the bolts were finger tight. . Do I drill new holes, extract out 4 broken studs and a broken easy out, or buy a new hub for $270. I aiming at drilling and tapping all 6 new holes I think.

    The Hubs on my Strait Axle.. have the Locking Mechanisms Broken... in some Of the Parts.. I Never got Around to fixing it.. May need parts for it Too.. Toyota's rock!

      Luckily the actually locking mechanism on mind is still fine. Just has to extract all the broken studs out, witch was a pain.

    Glad to see you're up and running again. I've never worked on or been around a Berf being worked on but they seem like a bit work for sure. Hope this one stays together for you for a long time. Cheers 🍻

      its quite a bit of work to get to the birfield joints with the stock solid axle hub. you have to take apart all your bearings and pull everything apart. we've got something in the works that will bypass all of that. if you need to change a birfield out, its 15 minutes tops ;)

      Honestly it takes less than a hour to do everything I did in this video, once you do it and know the process it gets waaay easier. But thanks to Analog I will have a even easier to deal with hub setup in near future!

    • @analog56x

      @@gammaboxer9765 its super easy. It allows you to unbolt the spindle from the knuckle, that way you dont have to mess with the cone washers or anything else. I think its like 8 or 10 bolts... pull caliper, pull spindle bolts, remove spindle, replace birf, reinstall spindle, reinstall caliper. Haha

    My lock plate with the bendy tabs is spinning so I need to get a new one or weld on a bigger tab.

    so the stock locking hubs made by Aisin are stronger than the warn?

    Warn are not junk. They are very solidly built. You obviously never bothered to check or tighten the Hub. If you allow something to come loose, anything on your truck will eventually fail. Sometimes stuff loosens, or needs to be driven then checked again and retightened after installing. It can happen. And I'm sure you're pretty abusive on it too. If it was a little loose and you're abusing it off roading, of course it can fail. That's on you, not the part. A lot of people use Warn Hubs on their Toyotas and have no troubles at all.

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. They are absolutely trash. Tightened every single trip, witch you should not have to. The fact they delete the cone washers is the most useless design ever.

    • @VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
      @VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DirtGarage There are millions of warn hubs on the road, and decades of proven worth. You ran into a use where something wasn't right. Perhaps even your bolts may have just fatigued. You don't have to have cone washers. Most parts don't have cone washers and don't break. You could have also tried some other locking washers. Sometimes a combination or use comes together and something fails. It happens to every single product, no matter the price and quality. It's ridiculous and and unprofessional to just say a blanket statement like you made. So you broke one, ok fine, try another product but don't be a baby about it and be ridiculous.

    • @VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
      @VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean you're telling me that you do and have to tighten them every single trip then something else is wrong. There is no way they just loosen every single trip. Also they do come with locking washers that must be used. There are plenty of Toyota truck drivers that never check their warn hubs and they are going great. I have a pair for my Toyota. In the reviews I've never seen one person say they were coming loose. So something else is wrong and it doesn't necessarily mean it's the warn hub. Or just a bad combination of events came together.

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      @TCK I am telling you. Only wrong was Warn. Switched to Aisins and never had to tighten again.

      @@VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM Dude. Warn is absolutely fantastic on millions of vehicles. They just dropped the ball on the Toyota ones by deleting the cone washers. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings.

    JY Dana 60: $500
    Yukon Hardcore locking hubs: $400
    Not having to mess with cone washers, birfields, leaking axles, weak hubs, trunion bearings: priceless.

    • @DirtGarage
      @DirtGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luckily I've had no issues with birfs and mine are stock. And I like the cone washers, they do a good job, it's just the Warn stuff does not use it. I actually forgot to mention but that kit I installed with this video includes upgraded trunions as-well! I like the Toy axle, I've already set it up for my e-locker, and is plenty strong for everything i've put it through. So it's going to stay for a while.

    • @analog56x
      @analog56x 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      where are you finding a D60 for $500? haha! up here people want 1500 for them easily.
      but also, then you're into fullwidth territory and then you lose streetability.
      it would take a LOT more than 900$ to stuff a D60 under his truck as well, if you want to keep it legal for the street, you'd have to narrow it, plus its a lot heavier than the toyota axle. custom axles to match the narrowed diff width, etc.
      ill stick with toyota axles as well. ive abused them over the years, and they have held up quite remarkably.

      @@analog56x I was breaking mini toy truck axles on 37s. For rock crawling you want that extra width & weight down low for stability. No legality problems here. Still overland in the truck. I paid $500 for my king pin Dodge passenger drop Dana 60 on CL. But you gotta pay to play if you want to do the hard trails around here.

      @@MattPratt up in my area, theres not much for hardcore rocks. Mostly just trails, but there is some light rockwork. Whereabouts are you from? Cause the cops up here would totally pull your truck off the road if you were running fullwidth axles on a mini haha
