Great informative video. My grandfather ran both the K4 and later the GG1. I had a log book of his that has since been "lost" in the family. So I hesitate to say this, but it is true-my grandfather had logged that he was running 4876 in December of 1952. This was the one that crashed in Union Station Washington DC in January 1953. Close call for him....LOL
Thanks so much for watching! That’s an amazing story! I wish they would fix that locomotive up , it’s currently sitting in the B&O restoration yard. 🚂💨
Very nice Nick. That sound it makes, is the same as what my old friends Triang does, it's more to do with the motor than anything, and nothing we can do with it. It does sound like she was made at the same period as the real one. Love the music you chose for this too.
Good info..... The only thing I found that differs from your information is the 4829 locomotive was retired April of 1967. Not positive about that , but it's the 2nd time I've seen it in print...... Keep doing videos..... Quite a few GG1's for sale in Lemoyne PA....👍👍👍
Same here until recently lol that sounds like a really cool engine especially being 2.0 so you can run it conventionally 🚂💨 thanks so much for watching!
Hey Nick. Great video review of your set. The GG-1 is an awesome engine! I have several in my fleet. I have a set from 2008 that is a recreation of a Postwar set. It has a Brunswick Green GG-1 #2332 with three Madison cars. Its awesome! However it would have been nice if it had also TMCC. Oh well you can not have everything I guess!
What a beautiful set overall. Yes, it would have been nice for it to have either TMCC or even Legacy, and all of the bells and whistles that go with it, but to see it in operation running around your layout is really what matters most. It looks very nice with the lights dimmed down. Great review.
@@NixCrossing The Lionel Century Club has a GG1 with TMCC. It’s a beautiful locomotive. I actually have it myself, and it is one of most favorite locomotives. I highly recommend you search for one of these. It also uses the original GG1 number 2332.
Thanks for taking us for the ride.
Not a problem, thanks for watching! 🚂💨
great video
My father has the original 2332 GG1. Runs pretty good!
That’s awesome! I’m guessing that’s the single motor variation? I’d love to have one of those. Thanks so much for watching! 🚂💨
@@NixCrossing Yes it is a single motor!
@@northpennvalleysteamrailroad very nice! It’s on my list of things to buy lol
The GG1 is a classic. The Lionel Century Club GG1 is TMCC. It came out around 2000.
Oh wow! So they were slacking on this one haha. Thanks for watching! 🚂💨
It is an amazing set, especially to be labeled as an 0-27 set. Beautiful set, Nick! Love the Pennsy! Thanks. T4

Thanks so much for watching! Ahh very interesting 🤔. Yes I saw that. The Williams toolings are very nice and budget friendly
Very nice review. I also never knew there’s was a 75th anniversary GG 1 set. I own a Lionchief Plus 2.0 GG 1. It’s my favorite engine in my fleet!
Same here until recently lol that sounds like a really cool engine especially being 2.0 so you can run it conventionally 🚂💨 thanks so much for watching!
Great review ! I don't own a GG1. But it is my favorite as well ! Happy modeling
Thanks so much for watching! 🚂💨 Eventually I’ll get more once I hit the lottery 😂
Ironically I was searching this and you popped up lol thanks for the video lol

It's a beautiful engine! I have some growlers as well, the only thing I can do is enjoy the racket :-)
Thanks so much for watching! Haha same here it’s like a classic distinct sound of Lionel

6️⃣0️⃣3️⃣🚂😎. 🚂❤️beautiful train 🚂❤️Awsum 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The GG1 was probably one of the cooler from it's time.
Definitely agree 🚂💨
I actually saw “Old Rivets 4800” in 2005
That’s such a cool locomotive to see
I’ve gotten quite addicted to TMCC
Same here haha especially when they added Odyssey speed 🤩🚂💨
