"Mr. DeGood" does this very frequently in live streams then cutting out the incriminating parts at the beginning of his "work". He finds parked police cars, parks as close as possible (usually across the street) in case the officer(s) are in the middle of any interaction with the public, then recording on his phone. If they are simply parked, he will still record on his phone, but when he feels the officer has taken enough notice of him, he will drive away, and if followed, he'll park somewhere else, usually a business, space, then some minutes later, will check back in on the original patrol car and do it all over again, until something worth filming occurs.
I’m sorry but if a person is willing to make a death threat, to a child, in front of cops it’s fair to say that person is not thinking or acting rationally. If they then make physical contact with a cop it’s fair to think they would act on a physical threat. At that point they have made a death threat in front of a cop and started making physical contact, two things a majority of Americans will never do.
Yeah, those cops did not deserve an F in this case, but I guess you have to be cautious with how you grade a situation like that, as some people like to play victims a lot.
@Flummelum yeah they did what they were supposed to do. They didn't even go at the kid hard. This time, the civilians were trying to minimize their friends actions as tho he wasn't overly aggressive
@Flummelum this channel is full of biased takes. Letter grades given based on "might" "maybe" and other meaningless statements. He's not wrong per se, but he is intentionally misleading with his interpretation of law to appeal to a specific audience.
This is why this channel is awesome! I love his impartiality on both parties! Investigating both side and teaching people REAL laws that we can apply if ever in that situation! Priceless!
As to the grade on the first one... It doesnt matter how the cop interpreted it, he was told he was free to go. With that he had every right to get out and express a grievance with his governent.
Yeah they definitely wouldn't have used him driving away from a traffic stop as an excuse to throw his ass in jail. All it takes is for them in their mind to decide you are detained and he can do as he pleases.
I think the grade was because of the safety factor. Even ATA is recognizing that cops can be dangerous even in lawful situations. Not good to be "right" and put yourself into a situation where you can be killed.
Even if he wasn't free to go before the Supervisor spoke to him, as soon as he walked away from the car the traffic stop was finished and he could get out of the car. As soon as the reason for the stop is resolved, the stop is over. The police don't get to hold you longer than that for no reason or a bogus reason like officer safety.
You’re interpreting it backwards. The man was free to go the entire time, he prolonged the stop by asking and waiting for a supervisor while working himself up into a fury. The first time that officer said he wasn’t detained and that he was free to go, that’s when you shut up and leave
@ the grade is in relation to your behavior in the stop, bet this time he assigned it based on behavior after the stop that was entirely within the man’s rights…
That's so thoughtful of the Deland PD to ensure the wellbeing of the driver. Really makes me want to move there. I can only imagine how many times they have pulled this stunt to only fish for something further to arrest him.
Bad for real estate. Investors watch these videos and buy accordingly. Municipalities should rethink their commitment to these "public servants." Mayors, do you understand?
Reasons someone may pull over frequently is because of medical reasons, such as dizzy feelings caused by a stroke or seizure, especially if you haven't experienced such a thing before. Trust me, having your vision completely blur away isn't fun, even when walking. Other things may include mixing medications. It's better to be safe than sorry, no? 2nd guy was out of line. When you threaten to "smoke" anyone in front of police and then proceed to walk towards the person and then attempt to get passed the officer and even push the hands of the officer away, you are asking for trouble. The officer was trying to keep the man away from the teenager. There was no intent by the officer to injury the man but rather keep him away.
Hell, even that wouldn't have probably been a problem for him until he got physical with the cops. I wouldn't be shocked if they just intended to tell him to go away and hope it would scare the kid into not acting up.
No, the guy was knowingly and deliberately escalating. If he simply said "I'm fine, can I leave or am I detained?" it ends the interaction (or the police then actually DO go out of their legal grounds) but he chooses not to do that and demands to get his licks in with the supervisor instead. The fact he never asks if he can leave tells you everything about what the guy wants from the interaction.
No, absolutely not. Even though he was told he wasn't detained, the fact that he angrily left his car and walked towards police (Angrily) could justify defensive actions against the dashcam dude, because cops dont known his motive. It was actually stupid of him to leave his car, legally stopped or not.

A government that abuses its people or is tyrannical generates resistance to its rule. People who have been injured, maltreated, victimized, dishonored, or had close friends or relatives killed by the government, particularly by its security forces, may lash back at their government attackers. Thomas Jefferson ~ "When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty,"

Although this would apply only in federal courts, every LEO defendant will be moving to transfer their case to the Feds. The combination lights, sirens, and the continued interaction with the officers are sufficient for a reasonable individual to consider themselves seized for the purposes of a traffic stop.
ATA, I'm not sure I agree with the F grade for officers in the second encounter. The idea that this was excessive force hinges on the idea that the subject was purposely slammed head first into the ground which I am not convinced was the intent of the officer. I agree that the officer could have been more patient before engaging in a forceful takedown but based on the sequence of events, the officers had warrant to arrest him and the consequences are on the subject, not the officers. It's important to note that the original youth said that he had been chased, this subject threatened to 'smoke' the youth, physically approached in a threatening manner, and assaulted the officer giving then more than enough cause for their response. Had their been any indication that the officers intent was to slam the subjects head into the sidewalk, I would agree with the assessment but I see no evidence of that. Every citizen must recognize that they cannot approach another person with a threatening manner and must yield to the authority of police. Being angry is not an excuse. Had the subject landed on the grass or not head first in an uncontrolled takedown, I'm sure this would have turned out very differently. I'd say C- because there was no indication of imminent danger. More patience would have been reasonable.
that was my take as well….the kid was a smug little jerk off with a clear history of engaging in bad or even criminal behavior….. As a former police officer though it is difficult to determine if in the second video it was excessive or just an outcome of the totality of the resistance…..
I counted 5 maybe 6? officers on the scene. This is more than enough personnel to prevent any of the combative citizens from getting within arm's reach of each other - which they should be doing. Clearly one of the angry citizens in the group is who called the police. Clearly the kid from the bush and his friends are annoying punks that cause trouble. The officers should recognize that potential volatility of the situation and take immediate steps to deescalate it. Instead, they let it get out of hand and then overreact.
Not purposely slammed? lol. The police chief said "His upper body was controlled by the officer. Parks was lifted off the ground..." and then "taken to a platform" (ie: the ground). If his upper body was "controlled", then how'd he hit his head?? Only explanation is it was done on purpose.
@dinosaur1900 controlling the upper body doesn't mean total control over every aspect of a person's body. In the context of this conversation, all it means is that the officer used enough force to overcome the subjects resistance. That's what that term means. I'm not trying to make excuses for the behavior as we all agree that there could have been a better outcome. My only point is that the officer was not out of line taking forceful action if they felt it was necessary. I think it is important to appreciate that the guy who got thrown was way out of line.
You can tell he's scraping the bottom of the barrel for encounters to make videos on, and then giving exaggerated grades to encourage/farm for interaction. It's why he's been doing so many double features, because the single encounter alone wouldn't make for long enough video, and why he's covering incidents only two months old, faaaar too early for there to have been much investigation, much less any sort of legal followup
He also maintained a “hostile and aggressive demeanor” towards the officers throughout the entirety of the stop, which ATA will so quickly dock points from an officer for, but if it’s the citizen then it’s just in one ear and out the other
I fully disagree with the rating for the initial officer for Mr The Good. He was in the middle of explaining the wellness check when the good asked for a supervisor. No arguing, no complaining, just said ok. When Mr good was goading a lawsuit, the officer said you are free to leave and not detained, but a supervisor is on his way. As for the lights, some people are arguing that it shows he was not free, many police departments don’t have directional lights, and the lights on at that point were just for the safety of the stop for traffic.
Second video...Mr. parks aggressively walked up to the minor suspect, belligerently threatened him, assaulted the police officer, and then resisted arrest. I don't believe the cops used excessive force
I agree, he was entirely at fault. However, I don't know if an arrest for a swatted hand was necessary. They should of tried for 30 more seconds or so to calm him down, I would have.
Agreed! I usually agree with ATA grading, but the "F" was unwarranted. It was Parks who charged towards the teenager in detainment, threatened him, then go aggressive with two cops trying to hold him back, and then subsequently handcuff him... I believe the actions of these cops was justified under the law.

Parks asked for that though the officers don't deserve an F for that at all. He literally threatened murder in front of officers, and maintained a belligerent attitude. Also, he was interrupting an investigation where a suspect had the chance to get away if he so chose
Yes for slamming him on concrete that luckily only knocked him unconscious.. that was excessive force even if the guy gets convicted on his charges he still can sue those officers and the city and win.
Everyone needs to call for a supervisor and give them the shit. Those stupid stops will end. They don’t want to deal with the shit so they will tell their officers to stop.
It doesn't matter what they say. Cops can and will lie to you. That being said when you are pulled over by a cop you are defacto being detained. The second they turn on those lights legal or not they are actively detaining you by forcing you to stop and talk to them. Generally mutual conversations aren't started by being pulled over by police.
so the second video, guy strait out made a death threat against a minor... not supporting or arguing against the use of force here but the phrase fuck around and find out exists for a reason
Mr. TheGood deserves an A. The traffic stop was over. The police officers had all walked away and gotten in their cars. He was legally allowed to get out of his car .
Yeah he is basically saying he deducted points because even though he did nothing wrong some cops can and do use it as an excuse to escalate to another level
There are other videos out there showing people who need police assistance being arrested and thrown on the ground for trying to walk up to a police car. Many tyrants considered walking up to their vehicle to be aggressive, and they react very poorly. The fact the stop had ended doesn't reduce the danger of exiting the car and walking up to them. It is completely legal to walk up to them, and many (possibly even most) police are fine with it. But some aren't and it is dangerous.
Nah, the grade was fair imo cuz I would've given him the same and included the fact that he was acting aggressive. I get that he's frustrated since the police were retaliating/targeting him, but he was definitely very agitated and getting out just added to that mess.
Your second case rating is nonsense. The guy cleared showed agression toward the minor, and after putting his hands on cop and resisting arrest. I bet the judges will not rule excessive force.

I agree in principle, but cops LOOOOVVVE to use going hands on as an excuse to then go absolutely crazy using as much force as possible and inflicting intentional injury in retaliation. There's a big difference in being forced to take someone to the ground to detain them vs SLAMMING them down out of anger because "they deserved it". He didn't hit a cop, he was getting the cops hand off of his shirt. That doesn't deserve being tackled to the ground, when he wasn't being detained or arrested, and was not a threat to the police at all. All he did was smack a cop's hand off of his shirt.
@ The guy was rightfully upset but when the cop told him to stop he should have stopped advancing towards the kid. He could have continued to make his point from wherever he was standing. Smack/hit are synonymous. If I smack someone, I would get arrested for assault, just like this guy did.

He’s setting up litigation against the department and everything those cops say can and will be used against them in court. If there is a lawsuit, that cop is stuck with what he said on the record.
I got pulled over by a police officer in Norwalk, CT in the early 1980s on my way to a friend's house with to-go Chinese food in the car. The officer claimed I ran a red light but it was yellow (one of the most common traffic stop scenarios ever). After a brief disagreement he went back to his car with my license. The mistake I made, in retrospect was to say that I was in a hurry because the food was getting cold. This gave him, I suppose, a higher level of reasonable suspicion that I ran the red light. But definitely gave him a reason to be a prick and make the stop take as long as possible which he proceeded to do. He only asked for my license at first and after 10+ minutes he returned to request my registration. I gave that to him and asked why he didn't request that with the license if he needed it and made sure to offer him my proof of insurance which he declined to take. He returned to his cruiser again and this time proceeded to take even longer. I exited my vehicle and approached the cruiser to ask what was taking so long. During the wait I had convinced myself that he was going to return a 3rd time to request the proof of insurance and I was tired of waiting. He got out and told me to get back in my car or I would be arrested. I immediately started to walk back to my car as he followed me. I asked over my shoulder how long this was gonna take and he said to just keep walking which I did. I didn't say another word and as soon as I touched the door handle of my card to open it, he placed me under arrest. That was clearly his intent from the moment I disagreed with him about the traffic light. Allowing police to behave this way is wrong. They shouldn't do it and they should have consequences to pay when they do.
I knew cops were pricks back in the 1980s. I can't believe how many people say, "What happened? Cops used to be decent people long ago! 😳" Wrong. Anyway, sorry that happened to you.
Was the force excessive? Yes. Should the officers be punished? Yes. Do I have any sympathy for Mr. Parks? Nope. When you threaten to "smoke" someone, in front of police officers, you're putting yourself in the cold, unfeeling embrace of natural selection, a process we must all accept and respect.
I give the driver an A. He has the right to leave the vehicle on an illegal traffic stop, and the people have to get out of this mindset of how cops think or believe because thats how they got all this damn authority in the first place, by licking their boots.
It's not about rights, it's about personal safety. While yes, he has the right to do so, he is actively, unfortunately, endangering himself in doing so.
Risk factors. Getting out of the car and shouting like that is a very easy ti get assaulted and possibly killed over officer safety. The officer will have the local gov't to back him. All you have us your savings account and children's food money
Shows why people shouldn’t call cops, and handle their own business… calls cops to prevent a burglary and get knocked out when he is confronting the criminal, by the cops. Cops touch man first.
I'm a resident of Auburn, NY. Our town is very concerned about some members of the local PD being too excessive. Some of the officers are fair and reasonable, but there are also quite a few that overstep the bounds of reasonable force. It's put everybody on edge, including all the police officers. This video that made it onto your channel is only one of many events we are dealing with right now.
"When pulled over, keep your hands on the wheel, dont make any sudden movements, and don't get out of the vehicle or you could get hurt or die." Sounds more like an encounter at Jurassic Park than with "peace officers". Giving someone a lecture for getting out of his own vehicle and utilizing his freedoms is some pathetic crap. If cops are this dangerous just having them around, we dont need em
Honestly my opinion, is that because officers are held to a separate arm of the law, example they can break into houses, murder, assault, and get a vacation. It makes it to where they aren't concerned if they break the law. I truly believe this is the reason why officers handling country wide has been on a downward spiral. It's a tough job, if you do it correctly your still demonized. You do it wrong, there's no personal penalty and you give the badge and uniform a bad name. Just my two cents.
And you MUST obey every command, even unlawful ones. Doing otherwise is an automatic ticket to jail or eternal vacation in the realm of the dead! The place to contest unlawful orders is the courtroom, not the side of the road!
for one, nobody was lectured buddy, he said what's real and exactly what you do need to do to be safe, regardless of it being right or wrong Secondly the stupid ass "abolish the police" argument holds no weight. there will always be a corrective power, take away modern police force and militias will take over. when those militias grow there will always be a strongest, which will have more influence, which gives them more power, more power means more need for structure, a structured militia then becomes law enforcement. abolishing won't do shit we need reform
It’s also amazing the length of dialogue time these cops out here are willing to engage in when the suspect is “Jamie” instead of “Jerome”… the patience and tolerance contrast is Fuggin Outstanding!! and Mr. Parks got exactly what he should…smh…🙄
Slap a cops hand away while threatening someone and you will be arrested too, and if you resist being arrested then yes you get taken to the ground. This is not a case of racism and it's a trash argument to try to say it is.

the second one wasn't impartial

Mr The Good did NOT get out of his vehicle during the traffic stop.
He had been told clearly, and unambiguously, that he was not being detained.
He also maintained a “hostile and aggressive demeanor” towards the officers throughout the entirety of the stop, which ATA will so quickly dock points from an officer for, but if it’s the citizen then it’s just in one ear and out the other
@@XANApwnsas it should be. Public servants have a responsibility to act in a servile manner. Random citizens don’t.
3:35 - Lol. Cop is doing a "well being check". Sure. That sounds legit.
NOT! Just another lying cop. Pathetic.
🇿🇦🤙🏼
Methinks we should do a wellbeing check on the officer, since he's claiming to see things that don't match reality 😂
Cops lie, that's their native language. They do it on and off the job constantly because they become so used to it.
Second video...Mr. parks aggressively walked up to the minor suspect, belligerently threatened him, assaulted the police officer, and then resisted arrest. I don't believe the cops used excessive force
Gotta analyze incident by incident
I agree, he was entirely at fault. However, I don't know if an arrest for a swatted hand was necessary. They should of tried for 30 more seconds or so to calm him down, I would have.
No. And you're not a good human. No one deserves to be almost murdered because they resisted an assault by police.
Idk. We need to stop normalizing the police slamming people's heads on the ground. It's dangerous
Agreed! I usually agree with ATA grading, but the "F" was unwarranted. It was Parks who charged towards the teenager in detainment, threatened him, then go aggressive with two cops trying to hold him back, and then subsequently handcuff him... I believe the actions of these cops was justified under the law.
big bad tuff guy, humbled QUICK!
went to my city hall 5 days ago for a foia, cops showed up at my door 2 days after asking for the papers so they could hand them in? how did they know where i live and why are police at my door askig about what info im wanting about government?
Intimidation...
@@propagandaisnottrue2121 i held my wrists out said cuff me or kick rocks.
@@thomaslascola9683no
Everyone needs to call for a supervisor and give them the shit. Those stupid stops will end. They don’t want to deal with the shit so they will tell their officers to stop.
B+ ? Wrong! First of all the officers said they were not detaining him. And if so....the detainment was concluded.
He’s correct though. As disgusting as it is, those corrupt cops could have used it as an opportunity to arrest him as they would have loved that.
@@Romanus-and he would’ve won a lot of money. Invoking rights shouldn’t hurt your grade
I think this grade fits him perfectly, cops are definitely in the wrong but he really edged on escalating the situation unnecessarily.
so the second video, guy strait out made a death threat against a minor... not supporting or arguing against the use of force here but the phrase fuck around and find out exists for a reason
he deserves an A++ bc he never was in a traffic stop and the cops were leaving at that point so can could LEGALLY get out at any point
Dude asked for a trip to the ground. The ground is hard.
"trip to the ground" is a funny way of saying deadly force.
Mr. TheGood deserves an A. The traffic stop was over. The police officers had all walked away and gotten in their cars. He was legally allowed to get out of his car .
Agree. The driver wasn't even detained at any time during this stop.
Getting out of the car and yelling "Sargent!" I don't think I could with conscious say he deserves an A .
Nah, the grade was fair imo cuz I would've given him the same and included the fact that he was acting aggressive. I get that he's frustrated since the police were retaliating/targeting him, but he was definitely very agitated and getting out just added to that mess.
Ehhhhn. I just would have said "I'm fine, thanks." He's the one that prolonged the stop by asking for a supervisor.
At that point you lose all credibility your being detained
I'm hiding my jackbooted thuggery behind a facade of kindness.
Your second case rating is nonsense. The guy cleared showed agression toward the minor, and after putting his hands on cop and resisting arrest. I bet the judges will not rule excessive force.
i mean yeah, but do you want the cop applying deadly force because someone is mad about crime or because of an empty threat.
the cop could of handled the situation better.doesnt matter minor or not he was old enough to run the streets so he was old enough to kbnow better.the cop technical put his hands on dude and he pushed his hand back while backing up.picking someone up above your head like that and then slamming them on concrete is murderous intent period

I normally agree with the grades provided as I do with the first interaction. As for the 2nd interaction, the cops do not deserve an F. He hit a cop then resisted arrest.
Exactly!
People get paralyzed or even die from that shit, and all the other times they don't, these details get lost in the bullshit police report where they clean it all up with carefully crafted, deliberately misleading phrasing. Cops HAVE to have emotional control, and often times they're some of the absolute worst.

So you can’t pull over. You can’t sit in your car in a parking lot. You can’t drive while black or brown. You can’t drive an expensive car. You can’t drive slower or faster than the speed limit and you must drive in a perfectly straight line without nearing any road lines. Got it! 👍🏻
Also, no driving while poor and looking like you cant hire an attorney. And my newest favorite, no driving while sober.
Hey, if you've read this far, you should also read this:

Yes that happened.
The simple reply is, " I am ok officer thank you & I do not need assistance ". And then tell him you are driving off. The is a time and a place to stand your ground and this was not really it. Once you tell him you are ok and you understand you are not being detained you drive off, and not go all wokey asking for a supervisor.

I think the first guy deserves an A+ tbh but I understand your reasonings
A+ from a legal perspective, B+ when factoring in his personal safety in the light of unhinged cops escalating for much, much less.
@ I absolutely agree!
I think the A- or B rating was warranted. It's very hard in such a situation to stay calm and be better, but that's what an A+ means. A+ is a perfect score. What he did in the end was justified, but, as AtA points out, dangerous. Plenty of times people have been arrested/tazed/shot for less because "he ran towards us aggressively".

👏👏👏 yep I agree.
It's not about rights, it's about personal safety. While yes, he has the right to do so, he is actively, unfortunately, endangering himself in doing so.

Here we go!
"When pulled over, keep your hands on the wheel, dont make any sudden movements, and don't get out of the vehicle or you could get hurt or die."
Sounds more like an encounter at Jurassic Park than with "peace officers".
The place to contest unlawful orders is the courtroom, not the side of the road!
for one, nobody was lectured buddy, he said what's real and exactly what you do need to do to be safe, regardless of it being right or wrong
Secondly the stupid ass "abolish the police" argument holds no weight. there will always be a corrective power, take away modern police force and militias will take over. when those militias grow there will always be a strongest, which will have more influence, which gives them more power, more power means more need for structure, a structured militia then becomes law enforcement. abolishing won't do shit we need reform
