      That's unfortunately not how it works. In WV judges are elected, not appointed. They can't be "fired" at all. Which, to be clear, is a very good thing overall, even if it has the unintended side effect of shielding some misconduct in cases like this.

      The only problem I see is think about a movie or a podcast is already a 1-1.5 gb so 8 hours it could work but think about the people that have to sit there and go through 10,000 officers that’s 80,000 hours of footage they have to go through in one day to make sure that they don’t commit crimes so you see why that would be a problem

    • @jeepliving1

      @@Dale-ju4nb These issues are in no way an appropriate justification for turning off the camera. It's not necessary to routinely review every minute of footage on a daily basis. The footage is significant only when there is a subsequent complaint or suspicion following an interaction. The recordings should be cataloged by date and held in storage for a determined length of time so as to be available if the possibility arises that there is pertinent data on the recording.

      This is why I feel a national licensing board needs to be established for cops. That follows you anywhere you go. So you can’t department hop when the heat gets too hot. Add to that require officers to hold insurance like doctors do. So that tax payers don’t have to foot the bill. Do anything to major to to many minor issues you loses your licenses or your insurance becomes cost prohibitive to be a cop. It would quickly weed out the bad ones.

    • @deanwiley6746
      @deanwiley6746 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @SRH and @dave: The fired ones usually don't get hired someone else. Fired (for cause) police have to redo all of their training/certifications. Which leads to...
      all three (at the time of this 'episode' ;) comment @dave @SRH and @zazuch: They end up - usually *high* up and butt-kissed - in Private Security.
      @z: your idea of Federal/National "Licensing" (even if only a PUBLIC database) is awesome. The ones that are "allowed to resign" and move to other departments often go without the *new* department knowing they should not hire them. As far as cops paying 'their own' insurance: They would just demand 10x the cost of it in tax payer salaries.
      Good thread!

How the heck does that make sense 😅 Not takeling responsibility for your own attitude, and placing blame on others is not going to get ya very far in life. Having an employee an employee yelling at customers is not a good look for a store. Whether you think the customer deserves it or not. There are better, more professional ways of dealing with situation then getting mad back at the customer and escalating things, and even turning away other customers. I wouldn't want my employees yelling at my customers either. It's not about just the one customer but the others as well, and in the end it is a business and the employer needs to be able to pay his employees and having employees and no customers does not really work very well. $650k settlement in four months with minimal injury is a great result. That attorney knocked it out of the park. Most attorneys would delay the civil suit until the criminal case is over. Drag it out and get a result probably 20% higher but over a much longer time

      Absolutely! Like the constant lack of personal accountability for personal decisions & actions of these officers - And the number of times they simply end up working for another jurisdiction.
      These are the things that we need to fight for. Personal liability insurance and loss of LE accreditation. Abolishing QI on its own is not the resolution - it MUST go hand in hand w these two remedies.

      The more you watch this type of video the more you realise how disgustingly long it takes for innocent victims to get a proper resolution. So don't feel badly towards sites that just want to get transgressions out there. It's often getting videos to go viral that leads to investigations and justice. Still come across way too many ignorant folk who comment on videos saying don't argue on the roadside, fight it in court - with these update videos it's hopefully showing folk that it's not as easy as that. There are delays, corrupt and inept prosecutors and judges. I totally appreciate him doing the updates but understand why other channels post videos with no conclusion.

    The tribal police story had me nervous for most of it. There's such contention between tribal lands and US law. I remember several years ago when a tribe couldn't file civil litigation against a Dollar General employee (manager?) that molested one of their minors. Reasoning being they had no standing in non tribal court and the employee couldn't face a jury of his peers on tribal lands. I'm pretty sure the crimson charges didn't go anywhere to start but i don't remember that side as well.

Besides this there were so many other incidents that happened while my wife worked under the chief you wouldnt believe out of such a small police department. I'm so glad my wife took another job.
