I hope my reaction meets your extremely high expectations :D My goodness these ace combat songs have slapped me in the face. Zero, Unsung War, Daredevil. My goodness. I can't wait to stream Ace Combat 7 and experience it knowing how valuable and stunning the music is. Lots more ace combat to come! Alicorn comes in a few weeks/month.
Don’t forget about Hero of Comberth Harbour! (the part 2 of Alicorn). Listen to the non game version of the track as it has a slower build up but a much better finale, unlike the game version which gets intense pretty quickly then loops back around. Edit: yup, might as well mention Awakening here too.
If you want another ace combat song that does a wonderful job of conveying the story and context of the moment, I'd highly recommend Hush which is also from 7.
The Alicorn suite has 3 parts, technically 4, so please be sure to hit them all. They all build up to each other, so it'd be: Awakening, Alicorn, and then Hero of Comberth Harbor
I have to echo the above comments, Alicorn, while an excellent piece, is a part of the whole. To get the whole picture, you kind of have to do the whole trio of Awakening, Alicorn, and then Hero of Comberth Harbor, in that order. It is a build-up, much like this song you just did, only divided into three parts to match the phases in the mission.
Daredevil was basically a song made for an already finished game, however the producer wanted a song that felt emotional and powerful, so he contacted Keiki Koyabashi (butchered that) and delayed the game *just* for this song. It truly lives up to the title as *Daredevil*
the game was made in 2018 officially, didn't get anything started on it until almost two whole years after it's initial release in 2015. fast forward 4 years later, and now you got a game that honestly feels incomplete, especially in VR and Multiplayer.
"It wasn't magic, It's a scam" When you listen to the song in game, the voice acting and the sounds of the lasers and APS from the arsenal bird in the game are part of the song as if they are also instruments in the orchestra. The battle sequence is paced according to song. This is peak game design.
The full on mission is just a sound of.. yes. Watching master class players do it and MATCH the song's battle rhythm and seeing it dispear in a crescendo is... MAGICAL
Oh this is an example where ever single aspect of a game comes together to create something special. It's funny, but I think of it like the warthog run at the end of Halo 3, where the music, action, effects, and sounds all come together to create something memorable and iconic.
This is where it all comes together. No sides. No nations. Just ending a conflict that was started for the wrong reasons, through manipulation. Take down that Arsenal Bird, Trigger.
4:22 just as they say: "Stick with Trigger and you'll make it." In the story, a data analysis concludes that whenever the main character joins an operation, friendly forces always have greater chance of survival.
Which harkened back to the reveal that the protagonist of AC 4, Mobius One, was evaluated to have the combat power of an entire squadron of aircraft. So the arcade mode in one of the games is a canonical event where a remnant force was destroyed by the ISAF sending a single plane in to do it alone. Because of the crushing psychological blow doing such a thing would accomplish. While it required several reloads, in the history of Strangereal, Mobius One did it, with only AWACS and replenishment support. A single pilot, in one plane, putting down an entire reactionary force. Ironically, by Yellow 13's measure, Trigger might well be the better pilot. Mobius flew alone, Trigger brought allied forces home alive.
4:20 is literally the moment you win. the game isn't over yet and there's still things that need to be done but at that moment you go from a hopeless battle to victory.
Yessss, here we go. The game was actually delayed for this song. The game was finished, but they wanted one more song for this extra oomph. When the vocals come in it feels like you've just flown through the clouds and you're met with the unhindered blue of the sky. And when it ends for the first time you dive back into the storm below to take on the monster that awaits within. And it's not even the last song you experience in the game. The song that comes after is pretty good as well. After this triumphant theme you hear the robotic, futuristic sounds of "Hush" starting up. And you realize... you're not out of the woods yet.
Kazutoki Kono, producer of the Ace Combat series felt the penultimate mission lack emotional impact. He decided at the very last minute to add another new song to this mission that would make him feel goosebumps despite the game already being close to completion. He called Keiki Kobayashi, main composer of Ace Combat and told him “I want you to make me a music track and I want it to be a great one, I want it done now.” Kobayashi’s response? “I understand.” Thus, Daredevil was created
In addition to being a great composer, it seems Kobayashi is also a badass; he wrote Daredevil after receiving that call with no complaints and no hesitation. He just got straight to work.
He's been introduced to the world of ace combat. We've watched as the ace combat series has gradually changed this man with its amazing music. Soon he'll be comparing every video game soundtrack to ace combat like the rest of us.
I wait for him to look at the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack, or just Final Fantasy in general. Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius and Soken is a worthy successor to him.
@@MarcoMeatball i'm watching your reaction a long time after first seeing it (daredevil came to mind watching one of your videos) and the fact you're still in this comment section a year later makes me happy
There is an important reason for the unusually long buildup, but saying exactly what would be both a spoiler and would risk butchering the experience. The song was requested very late into the development of the game by the producer to the musician with a very specific point that you really have to experience yourself.
Oh the moment of absolution. I love how the mission plays out It wasn't magic. It was a scam. I had the biggest shiteating grin when it happened. The man never fails to impress
SPOILERS Alright, everyone here should have atleast one Arsenal Bird 'Justice' on their kill sheet. The entire first half, the buildup, plays while you're engaging the newly arrived Arsenal Bird and its many drones. After a set amount of time the Arsenal Bird's shield, which it has been turning on and off periodically, turns on forever. As soon as the buildup finishes, offscreen characters destroy the Bird's power source. The drop into the 2nd part is specifically scripted to happen as soon as the Arsenal Bird's impenetrable shield goes down due to lack of power. Bing bang boom, you've blown up one of the most powerful superweapons ever developed.
Osean HQ: You two aces, it's time to show us what you got! Count: We don't have two anymore... guess nobody told them. Long Caster: That's quite true, Count. It's not just two. Wiseman trained his squadron well. Everyone still in it is an ace, and he'd be proud of you all.
Finally! For context, this song was the last song made for the game. The game is already done but the producer feels they need one last banger song. So he asked the composer and delay the game for this song. EDIT After finish watching. This song is so inspiring for the team, they made everything revolve around the music in the mission. The radio talk and the event in game sync with the music.
The game was delayed just so they could make this song. The producer wanted the song for this mission to give the players goosebumps, he asked the composer for a new track and all he said in response was “I understand”. The resulting track was so good that they reworked the dialogue and scripting of the mission to better fit it. Delaying a game just for a piece of music was a pretty daring, so they gave it the name Daredevil. The in-universe name for this mission is also Operation Daredevil. I wonder what’s next on your list, Hush? Alicon and Hero of Comberth Harbor? Fighters Honour? There’s still quite a bit of AC tracks with choir, and even the ones without like Liberation of Gracemeria are 100% worth checking out.
Marco, do yourself a favor. Watch the trailer that has this song in it! You don't need to do another video or anything, but just watch it for yourself. The additional visuals, dialogue, and story boarding really take it to a while different level. I GUARANTEE you won't be able to watch it without getting goosebumps!
Ahhhh Daredevil....it still is, in my opinion a perfect piece for the battle that takes place. It's a great piece for Trigger's (The Main character of AC7) story as well. Loved your discussion of the piece! But, I am also here once again to suggest "Alicorn" which I feel you will greatly enjoy. Thanks again for checking out more of Ace Combat's music! ^^
Ah you've finally done it! The epic drop in this piece is literally programmed to play at the exact moment of the climax of the mission it plays in as you, the pilot character, ascend to one of your final crowning undertakings that forever seals your status as a legendary ace pilot: shooting down an unmanned aerial cruiser that borders the stuff of sci-fi, but mostly remains eerily within reach of us today. This is a continuing theme of the series to feature such imaginative projects or advancements in warfare and this one in particular helps beg the question about removing man from warfare, the use of drones, and the costs of continuing technological development without pause or question. You're right about the introspective part too during that first kind of softer introduction of the main theme of the song. That theme is essentially the theme of Trigger, your character, and plays in many different missions in many different arrangements, kind of marking his progress as a rising star in the Osean Air Force. That moment there sort of gives the player a chance to think back on the entire campaign as they begin the conclusion of the game.
You touched on something I love about Ace Combat at that's the near future Sci-Fi. Like, the Arsenal Bird is something that we could easily imagine seeing in 50 years. Probably less.
When you get around to the alicorn songs in AC 7 (awakening, alicorn, hero of comeberth harbor) highly recommend you do them in one recording session and in the order above, they are a progression building upon the themes of the previous song and I feel definitely would benefit from being heard in the proper order.
Ace Combat 7's soundtrack is one of the most in-front examples of how Keiki Kobyashi builds on a bunch of leitmotifs. Now that you've listened to "Daredevil", listen back to "Charge Assault" in your own time. It's the first combat track of the game. It just shows how incredibly well symphonically put together this and his others works are. Another side note: Listen to "Diapason" in your own time from Ace Combat: Zero to kind of hear where the leitmotifs for AC7 come from, imo. It's heavily inspired, for sure.
Yep, I can see the music at 4:20 hit you just like everyone else. We all love that part. For more context, that part of the song plays exactly the moment the energy shield on the giant floating drone carrier goes down. All the aircraft present have been trying to take it down, but they can't because of the shield. It's not Trigger (the game's protagonist), that causes that but the Erusia kingdom's princess that destroys the controls powering said shield. It's that exact moment that gives Trigger that chance to take it down. That being said, the song really sounds more epic without all the constant missile alerts blaring at you in-game ;)
The fact this game was a love letter to us fans of the trilogy(zero, 4, & 5)....emotional doesnt begin to describe how i felt playing it. Imagine me, reuniting with a superweapon from a previous game, now cranked up to 11, with this song, then 4:10 to 4:20 hits at the exact moment my invincible enemy is made vulnerable. I was lost in thought afterwards for awhile
There are the 3 different versions of essentially the same track for ten million relief plan, which is the title of the mission. I think they are, Awakening, Alicorn and The Hero of Comberth Harbour, kind of confusing I know, but, they step up in their intensity directly relating to the steps in the intensity of the mission. Truly a rival the the way daredevil also relates to the main story, big focus on vocals in those tracks. Definitely a solid recommendation.
@@cmdrpanorpa8631 Yeah, I'm pretty sure "Ten Million Relief Plan" is just the track that plays when Torres is charging the first railcannon shot after faking his surrender.
As always, love your reactions and I love the fact we've gotten to the point where all you can be is gobsmacked at each new track Ace Combat throws at you.
Its crazy to think that part of the reason this game was delayed for almost a year was because the music director wanted to make sure there was one big song in the game that would give you goosebumps from start to finish. I think he nailed it.
Usually I try to add some analysis to these songs for your reactions but you and the other comments have said it all. Goosebumps every single time. Glad you enjoyed it!
"Daredevil" has the longest buildup in the entire series soundtracks The second longest is "Liberation of Gracemeria" from Ace Combat 6, might not be a video material for you since there's no vocal yet totally worth listening
@@SaltyGamer777 in the sense of what these people feel is needed the ablsoute mindset of if we can't have it then you can't either. And that there's no other option besides this. It sets itself up well for what we go through in 7 By no means is its BAD track (as it's a somber version of brand new day I think) its like a cold dive into artic water but the context of WHY it's playing there is depressing
The biggest highlight of AC7, the one song the entire game was delayed for. Brilliant as always. Would love to watch you play the game and see your reaction of the scene as it happens
Because for the first time ever, this battle sequence being scripted to the music piece gives me this breakdown as I played it myself. Of course, the pilot isn't going to hear music but each change reflects the scenario in battle. 0:21 - The introduction to the battle against a near-impregnable adversary that has dogged them since the war began, a reminder of the imposing presence of this airship. 1:58 - The pace settles down, the air battle continues to a sequence you are familiar with. 3:27 - Something unexpected occurs. Unless this threat is neutralised, nothing can defeat this airship. Desperation begins to settle in as all pilots have no answer to it. 4:20 - A miraculous breakthrough happens, the offensive continues as the airship is continually stripped of its facilities. Also Marco, you have to play it to believe it - there is a palpable moment of suspense that is only present in the game, which you will not find in any of the OSTs. PS: Since you're diving into Alicorn, would you give "Mimic" a listen? It then divides into 2 seperate pieces called "Mimic - Rage", and "Mimic - Scream". It's a rock piece, so maybe you don't have to evaluate it on video, it if its not your cup of tea.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I keep coming back to this one and makes me so emotional, the build up is way too good, the soprano and the choirs and the second part is just majestic.
this song probably one of the best in capturing the feels at the moment, enhancing it and delivering it right back at you; five folds. the feels of redemption, layers of it, redemption upon redemption, until at one point you know it (oh hell they make sure you know it) you reached ABSOLUTION!!! you can feel the "lifting" feeling when all burden dissolves and everything is forgiven.
Oh yes! Also, Hush, from the mission directly after the one that Daredevil plays in, is just as good, and heavily underrated. Edit: As always, your reactions to these songs brings me immense joy to watch.
Daredevil was my gateway drug into Ace Combat music. Glad to see you reacting to so many iconic tracks from this series, along with those from other games. An interesting thing to note is how the story of each game tends to subvert the first impressions given by the music. You described Zero as a patriotic national anthem, yet the story constantly questions the value of the state. Daredevil is indeed a triumphant return, but it's also a song of redemption for multiple characters. On the surface, AC music extols the glory of war, but in context it's very anti-war. That said, reactions are a dime a dozen; what makes them worthwhile is seeing people genuinely moved- which usually applies to folk who have a real passion for the subject and come from a relevant field, like you. Whenever possible, I'd enjoy seeing you explain more of the technical aspects of music using your opera background, such as in your God-Shattering Star reaction. Looking forward to more.
The whole song is timed perfectly to the level. That last build up is timed so that as soon as it peaks the invincible shield protecting the last arkbird comes down and the way to shooting it down, and ending the war, is opened. The last few minutes play while you blast away at it while drones swarm around you and your allies, while also protecting the arkbird with their bodies.
This is one of my absolute favorites from the entire Ace Combat lineup. I love how this song seems to tell a story all on its own. You can practically see the scenes it's portraying in your head as it goes along.
Ah, the culmination of your struggles. After fighting alongside your former enemies in a desperate struggle against a literal aerial fortress still under control of the enemy, which is sending out a neverending swarm of killer AI drones in addition to being armed to the teeth & impenetrably shielded, only for your allies from both sides of the war on the ground sacrificing themselves to finally disable the shield of the monster & at that moment THIS(8:06) portion of the song starts, essentially telling you that it's YOUR turn to finish the job, take down the Arsenal Bird & be the hero we always knew you were. MAGNIFIQUE.
What a great piece of music! And your breakdown of it was quite insightful, as per usual. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of your Ace Combat reactions/analyses before now, and I'm starting to think that was a grave oversight on my part. I'll have to get on the rest of these ASAP!
Ever since I've seen your reaction to the first Ace Combat ost on your channel I've been looking forward to this, thinking something along the lines of: "Yeah, he's definitely gonna lose it during Daredevil" Also, seeing you leaning forward, trying to pinpoint the drop only to be surprised is so funny xD (understandable though since the buildup is so long in this track)
Ace Combat at it again with the leitmotif. The same melody can be heard from the first mission's BGM onwards. How much do you have to use a leitmotif before it becomes a hevymotif? Not sure if I've seen anyone recommending it but check out Chandelier from Ace Combat 6; it's an entirely choral piece which is a bit of a departure from the other "final boss" themes in the series but I think you'd appreciate it. Again though, thematically it fits so well with the mission it accompanies that the game is worth playing to hear it in situ.
the thing i love about Ace combat soundtrack is their build up, so rich so high , like i can really feel it, can fly to the sky ,damn ZERO and Daredevil is fav
"Books make you homesick for a place you've never been" and Ace Combat makes you patriotic for places that have never existed. Liberation of Gracemeria from Ace Combat 6 is the song that does that for me and was the song that introduced me to the series. It doesnt have any vocals for you to review but figured id offer one of my favorites that gets me every time!
Your reaction to this piece is absolute gold. I'm so happy you're reacting to more Ace Combat music and even happier you did Daredevil specifically. I did previously comment saying the composer delayed the *ENTIRE* game just to make this piece perfect and I say its well worth it. The first time I played that mission.. it was an experience that had me to tears. Such a stunning buildup only to have an *AMAZING* score provide such uplifting and soul touching climax to the story. Its breath taking. Especially when you're in the moment of the mission. I hope you keep reviewing Ace Combat music. The music is criminally underrated. Also.. have you heard of a game called Valkyria Chronicles? Its a super unheard of game, but its a really good series. The music too is just.. stunning. I highly recommend it.
As usual I love seeing how much fun you are having listening to the ace combat music! This is a very pivotal battle in the war the game takes place in. Huge build up with everyone throwing everything they have at this nearly indestructible target. The radio chatter is shear panic leading into desperation. And something happens on screen right as that drop hits that turns the battle and gives everyone that final spark to push on to win. I honestly started tearing up first time I experienced it that I crashed and had to start over lmao. One thing I like about the song as well is how well the rhythmic dissonance works. You have all these different time signatures that weave in and out of each other and honestly represents the fur ball that is this battle the track happens in, it’s complete chaos lol. Attack on Stonehenge is a great track where you can just feel the danger radiating from the track. Also First Flight is a very addicting track!
4:19 i love that in game you had like a little of silence before the Arsenalbird's shield falls off and the music resume with that intensity like the game is screaming: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWW!!!" and you began to tear the machine apart.
Ever since I found your reviews of Ace Combat music, I have been waiting for this video. The use of the vocals -- particularly the soprano descant with the do-re-mi, fa-mi-la leitmotif which represents the player character -- is incredibly impactful. The song just wouldn't be the same without that surging triumph. (A very similar thing happens in the BGM for the very last mission, "Hush.") Also, I'm like you: I decided to play the game solely on the strength of this song.
you sir, have quite quickly become my favorite reactor, the energy you have is fantastic! another vocal ace combat song i think you might enjoy is from assault horizon called "Mrs Krista Yoslav" it plays during the final encounter with the main enemy ace.
Even if it takes some growing pains and you using the easiest difficulty, I would love to see you try some ace combat games and give your reactions to them... as not only a VA and ex-singer, but also as someone experiencing these songs in the full sense of the game for the first time.
Loved your reaction man! For info, when the game is ready to be released, the producer said "I want a banger song to go with the action", and thus he asked the composer to make one and delay the game's release just for this song. And yes, the "action" sequence that goes with this song is absolutely amazing, they literally timed the song's tracks with the action, so when the vocal drops hard, it's perfectly timed with a major plot event You can tell that the music team of Project Aces are REALLY passionate with their music, nearly all of their music is filled with passion and love. I hope you're gonna reacting to "Alicorn" next, it's a testament of how much passion they put into making music (and this is a music for DLC content, mind you)
Despite some...interesting additions to the series, at it's core Ace Combat has been a story spanning almost Thirty Years (At least when you get to 7 chronologically) of conflicts. A running theme of Greed and Mercy, Hope and Desperation, Ambition and Humility, Revenge and Forgiveness. The constant ambitions of Generals and Politicians, and the consequences it brings on soldier and civilian alike. Where the true legends are just people caught in the worst of the conflict and surviving to bring it to an end. The constant escalation of war and the heartless machines created to wage it, and the people just trying to see the next day. Daredevil comes in near the end of 7, in a story where a nation is brought up to wage war for the ambitions of those who don't even care beyond their own dreams. Where cold machines threaten to replace soldiers to escalate a conflict to the point of never ending. Where everything has fallen so far out of control that two armies have lost all communications with their own homes. No more orders, no more doctrines, no HOPE. Until the soldiers of both sides come together, in a desperate bid to destroy the machines which were created for this war, to end the fighting and, if not bring peace, at least earn some REST. Soldiers, civilians, even convicted CRIMINALS come together in a massive unified but chaotic effort to save the world, the second half of the song signaling the moment when a massive battle with no real end in sight suddenly changes, when a convict and (I shit you not) an honest to God PRINCESS create an opportunity for the Hero to end the threat, even if it's still a harrowing battle just to USE it. The end of the song, where the music is winding down but no less intense, where you watch as the war machine crashes into the sea, you're still tense, waiting for one last surprise, one last enemy to appear and force you to fight just one more time. Ace Combat has always had a soundtrack to pull you into the action around you, even without notice, so when it pulls out the stops and comes in hard, it comes in HARD, and you just KNOW you're in for a ride.
Ace Combat 7 soundtracks were really astonishing especially able to touch someone's heart for telling what's the basic of story for much to tell in this such actions.
Me and a friend of mine were actually talking about your channel yesterday, and he wanted to see you react to Laurence from Bloodborne and I wanted you to react to Daredevil. Then, less than a few hours apart, you do both.
this song is incredibly epic, and one of the best of AC7 and the entire saga. thanks for bringing her to one of your videos!!! ps: the inference of the mission in which this melody appears is quite correct, everything happens in the penultimate mission: "you, meeting with your allies and fighting alongside old enemies, all fighting to end the bloody war and defeat a boss that it surpasses them in power and number and that by itself can prolong the conflict and even extend it to other continents"... it is really an epic mission to play
When I heard Daredevil for the first time I got goosebumps and it was the trigger that made buy this game. What you may also like would be "Destructive to all" from Dragon's Dogma. It's a very niche game from what I can tell but it has one of the most fun game plays I ever experienced in a game and the music is phantastic. Although the story is weird and unfortunately got rushed alot.
I'm on an Ace Combat fever lately and found you channel because of it. I played Ace Combat Zero when I was younger and I've just started playing 7. I don't understand how this series can have such good stories, theme and songs, but I'm really glad you're covering them!
It's here. It's finally here!! Arguably the best song in Ace Combat 7, Daredevil lives up to its name. The situation in the story is that you, the player, are tasked with something that is considered impossible by your allies. There is an exchange in the mission where one your allies question if you're that good of a pilot to accomplish said task, and that ally's friend says that he'd bet on it. YOU are the Daredevil... the beacon of light that shines upon this world. Ace Combat 7 was delayed so Keiki Kobayashi could finish this song, and it was worth it!! Your reaction is so spot on. Don't know how you even can guess the situation at hand, but it's awesome. Can't wait for your next one. Still requesting "Blue Skies (Infinity Remix)" as another "final mission" Ace Combat song. Two other songs I'd think you'd like from Ace Combat 7 are "Sol Squadron" and "Faceless Soldier".
They really do pump out really awesome songs for this game omg. I dont know what else to say about this song part from that I could imagine in this in maybe something like Nier where its a really action packed area whilst the camera changes to a 2d perspective and your fighting enemies.
People have pointed out to you that Ace Combat has strong thematic and naming ties to religion, myth, fantasy, and fairy tales. In that sense, this could be called Dragon Slayer. The Arsenal Bird has brought out all the tricks, including a sustained laser emitter (fire breathing), you return to the space elevator (wizard's tower) with there being a princess confined there (no really, an actual princess). You fight to destroy an inhuman thing that rules the skies and rains death. All the while a princess looks on from a seemingly impossibly tall structure. You are a shining warrior leading the charge to decide the war. It is no easy battle though. The enemy's defense seem impervious to all, but then they fail from an unexpected ally, and you have an opening.
This song is so special. Im so glad that they delayed the game just for it. I this you really got the point about. Such a good analysis like always ^^ Love what you make. Peace and love Marco ❤️
Can't wait to see you stream Ace Combat, we got another convert guys! Really looking forward to see what awesome tracks Keiki comes up with in Ace Combat 8
In a series full of incredible music Operation Bunker shot is without a doubt one of my favourites. If you ever do listen to it Marco - the track is set to Ace Combat's version of D-Day, where you support a massive amphibious assault in treacherous stormy conditions.
Hearing your thoughts on "The City Must Survive" from Frostpunk would be very cool - it's a powerful piece. I really love the piece and enjoy your commentary, with me not being musically very literate it's always interesting to hear what instruments and sounds are accomplishing what.
I love this song in this game, it perfectly accentuates what's happening in the mission and also the tone of the game in the end. I wonder if you've done any Metal Gear Solid songs. This song reminds me of both "Quiet's song" and "Songs of the Father" from MGSV
This one track has a little of them all. In Daredevil, I can hear what I can only describe as the skeleton of the leitmotives from zero, 4, 5, 6 and even earlier entries of the saga as well. Looking back, and realizing AC7 does have a little of every earlier game in the saga, be it in gameplay, story and characters, it all makes sense and comes together full circle. Truly, AC7 is the best gift long time fans of Ace Combat series could have ever wished for.
As always, i love your reactions and greatly apreciate your input in music keep up the good work! and also id like to recommend ac7 "licorn" ost as well. Oh and if you can react to some of the Dragons dogma ost like "End of the struggle" and "clash of fates" thatd be great plus its a rather obscure game so alot of people might discover its existance thru you!
God listening to this song makes me feel so many emotions at the same time. Not many songs are able to do that for me and the fact that this is the so g for the final mission in one of my favorite games make it that much better.
That drop when the shield on the arsenal bird finally breaks off...goosebumps every time. [I'm late to the party, but just played and finished AC7 last week and now these are showing up in my feed lol]
Two for two... two for two 🥲🥲🥲 I teared up on the AC 5 & AC 7 video. the entire Ace combat series bring emotional feelings you never thought you had out.
I'm no musician. But when I first played the mission this track is from. Absolutely masterful composing from Keiki Kobayashi. And to think the game was delayed so he could write this masterpiece. I'm enjoying hearing someone like you break it down. I find it interesting listening to someone explain how the different parts work. Hope you keep doing these man.
I highly recommend the Project Wingman OST composed by Jose Pavli. In particular I’d love to watch your reaction to the “Kings” track that he recorded with a live orchestra as part of the games 1 year anniversary. It’s incredible.
You know what Osea is by now. Another major player is Eusia. Eusia, in the beginning days of the war, hacked/stole two massive unmanned aircraft carrier dronesand used them against the Oseans and the rest of the International Union Peacekeeping Forces (UN standin.) Each of these carriers, called Arsenal Birds (named Libery and Justice, though you never know which is which,) carry dozens of smaller UAVs, laser systems, short range air to air missile launchers, and long range anti-aircraft missiles. They're also protected by an "Active Protection System" (read: shield) that is borderline impenitrable. Couple that with advanced, almost fully autonomous AI controling it and a microwave energy transmission reciever (FYI: which is a real world technology, just not on that scale) and it never needs to land. One was shot down by another Ace Combat superweapon, Stonehenge, a mostly destroyed relic from another war. Stonehenge was a railgun originally designed to shoot down ASTERIODS on a collision course with the planet. It is NOT a small gun. The second Arsenal Bird could not be shot down by Stonehenge as it took a major operation to get it up an running for a single shot. Instead, an entire naval task force and multiple squadrons from both sides of the war team up to dump hundreds of missile into it simultaneously. Of course, it just turns on its APS and not a single missile hits. Making matters worse is that its AI has become fully sentient. And there are robotic factories all over the planet to make more drones. And the Space Elevator its flying next to is also the source of its energy transmissions and the planet's largest transmission tower. This is basically Judgement Day from the Terminator franchise. So this one character, the Euriusian princess as it turns out, ends up in this war zone and takes shelter in the space elevator. When it becomes clear what the AI's plans are, the group she is with sets out to stop it. (The force trying to destroy it is oblivious to the Aresenal Bird's intent.) She goes up the elevator and smashes the transmission equipment, depriving the Arsenal Bird of its power supply. Now running on back up batteries onboard, the APS goes down to simply keep its motors running. This gives the player a chance to fly in and destroy it. Right when its shields drop is when the second vocal segment begins. The track was perfectly synched to the mission in order to have this effect.
Words cannot describe how excited I am for the opportunity to see you experience the music in context
HAH! Koyabashi!
(JK man)
the game was made in 2018 officially, didn't get anything started on it until almost two whole years after it's initial release in 2015. fast forward 4 years later, and now you got a game that honestly feels incomplete, especially in VR and Multiplayer.
"I want one music track, and it has to be a really great one. I want you to compose it now."
"I understand."
Slapp
I've seen the same comment somewhere else on reaction video... 🤔🤔🤔
"It wasn't magic, It's a scam"
When you listen to the song in game, the voice acting and the sounds of the lasers and APS from the arsenal bird in the game are part of the song as if they are also instruments in the orchestra.
Don't forget the missile alert.
What happens when a game is made with passion and not greed in mind
The Choire also starts when the Arsenal Bird's shields are down and thats hwen it really hits.
1:56 I love how confused he was, expecting there to be a drop but just got a distant hum instead lol
This is where it all comes together. No sides. No nations. Just ending a conflict that was started for the wrong reasons, through manipulation. Take down that Arsenal Bird, Trigger.
Stick with Trigger and you'll make it!
"Fly!! I know you can Make it!!!"
Holy SHIT not only are you a fan of Destiny and Remnant, but also Ace Combat?! Fuck yes!
@@CaptainJackMorenzo Go Trigger's way, you'll make it. He leads the way.
@@jarodtate3451 lol I get around ;)
4:22 just as they say: "Stick with Trigger and you'll make it."
In the story, a data analysis concludes that whenever the main character joins an operation, friendly forces always have greater chance of survival.
The tingling it made me feel the first time it hit in game was so huge.
And then i crash a million times in the tunel to the elevator XD
Yessss, here we go. The game was actually delayed for this song. The game was finished, but they wanted one more song for this extra oomph. When the vocals come in it feels like you've just flown through the clouds and you're met with the unhindered blue of the sky. And when it ends for the first time you dive back into the storm below to take on the monster that awaits within.
And it's not even the last song you experience in the game. The song that comes after is pretty good as well. After this triumphant theme you hear the robotic, futuristic sounds of "Hush" starting up. And you realize...
you're not out of the woods yet.
Hugin and munin: *angry robotic screeching*
More like you're not out of the Storm yet
Kazutoki Kono, producer of the Ace Combat series felt the penultimate mission lack emotional impact. He decided at the very last minute to add another new song to this mission that would make him feel goosebumps despite the game already being close to completion.
He called Keiki Kobayashi, main composer of Ace Combat and told him “I want you to make me a music track and I want it to be a great one, I want it done now.”
Kobayashi’s response? “I understand.”
Thus, Daredevil was created
In addition to being a great composer, it seems Kobayashi is also a badass; he wrote Daredevil after receiving that call with no complaints and no hesitation. He just got straight to work.
@@Thesnakeroxand he gave us a masterpiece that hits just as hard in every replay as the first time

@MarcoMeatball I also foretell that Ace Combat 6 will be the underdog that ties for your favorite ace combat game.
I love how the mission plays out
It wasn't magic. It was a scam. I had the biggest shiteating grin when it happened. The man never fails to impress
SPOILERS
Alright, everyone here should have atleast one Arsenal Bird 'Justice' on their kill sheet.
Keiki Kobyashi: "I understand."
And then there's Project Wingman, no shortage of bangers there, for sure.
Kobayashi knows the music of Ace Combat, he is responsible for so much of it, so he knew exactly what he needed to do. And he succeeded.
It’s awesome how your analysis at the end matches very closely to how the actually mission in the game plays out.
It's great analysis, but say even more about the composer, being able to communicate/illustrate such a series of events without any explicit lyrics.
Oh yeah, Alicorn is the perfect song to do next. Blue Skies is also a good choice
Faceless Soldier suits Trigger as a theme better, also Two Prong Strategy is a Banger
@@SGTRandleOneOne I would wholeheartedly want to shoot it down just as much as everyone in AC7 does, if not more.
@@SGTRandleOneOne Arc Birb Is Better
When you get around to the alicorn songs in AC 7 (awakening, alicorn, hero of comeberth harbor) highly recommend you do them in one recording session and in the order above, they are a progression building upon the themes of the previous song and I feel definitely would benefit from being heard in the proper order.
You know a song is good and impactful when you can actually guess what's actually happening behind it..
Your guess is actually spot on man
Ace Combat 7's soundtrack is one of the most in-front examples of how Keiki Kobyashi builds on a bunch of leitmotifs.
Even in the very first cutscene of the game that leitmotif shows up during “Drag Racer”
I can see it, the 1:28 mark of Diapason took the start of AC7's leimotif.
Edit: i can also see it from ACZ's more "trumpet" style ZERO.
Unsung war / Shattered Skies would like a Word
I think the first soprano part is describing a "There's still hope, just hold on!" kinda moment while the second part... "Hold my beer!" moment 😂
The alerts and screaming are definitely part of the song in game lmfao
The fact this game was a love letter to us fans of the trilogy(zero, 4, & 5)....emotional doesnt begin to describe how i felt playing it. Imagine me, reuniting with a superweapon from a previous game, now cranked up to 11, with this song, then 4:10 to 4:20 hits at the exact moment my invincible enemy is made vulnerable. I was lost in thought afterwards for awhile
Hush and ten million relief plan is also got tier with choir. I’d totally recommend listening to those two.

I’ve noticed. More than happy to have proper analysis to my emotional analysis
"Daredevil" has the longest buildup in the entire series soundtracks
The second longest is "Liberation of Gracemeria" from Ace Combat 6, might not be a video material for you since there's no vocal yet totally worth listening
I don’t need vocals and I’ve recorded gracemaria just in a queue :)
@@MarcoMeatball if you want another good but depressing song from 6 Chandelier is a good example of them playing with Depressing choir
Depressing in a somber sense, right? Not as if it's bad because it really isn't.
@@SaltyGamer777 in the sense of what these people feel is needed the ablsoute mindset of if we can't have it then you can't either. And that there's no other option besides this. It sets itself up well for what we go through in 7

@@A_annoying_rodent Picture it, Marcos does a marathon of them. Picture it!
One song from AC7 I would HIGHLY recommend after hearing this one is “Faceless Soldier” I’m sure you’d love it
That song goes so hard, especially near the end
Underrated Track which was ALSO played in the trailer
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I keep coming back to this one and makes me so emotional, the build up is way too good, the soprano and the choirs and the second part is just majestic.
Love seeing the genuine emotion in your face while listening to these scores for the first time. You can tell the appreciation you have for the music
this song probably one of the best in capturing the feels at the moment, enhancing it and delivering it right back at you; five folds. the feels of redemption, layers of it, redemption upon redemption, until at one point you know it (oh hell they make sure you know it) you reached ABSOLUTION!!! you can feel the "lifting" feeling when all burden dissolves and everything is forgiven.
I try to tap into my technical background when I can - sometimes I just get wrapped up. :)
They tricked you at 1:58. You thought it was going to go hard and heavy. But they went quiet.
This is one of my absolute favorites from the entire Ace Combat lineup. I love how this song seems to tell a story all on its own. You can practically see the scenes it's portraying in your head as it goes along.
oh my god thats so amazing. thank you so much for this
🥰
Ever since I've seen your reaction to the first Ace Combat ost on your channel I've been looking forward to this, thinking something along the lines of: "Yeah, he's definitely gonna lose it during Daredevil"
Also, seeing you leaning forward, trying to pinpoint the drop only to be surprised is so funny xD (understandable though since the buildup is so long in this track)
That was great, getting all ready to that drop... just to get the soft vocals. Priceless my friend.
the thing i love about Ace combat soundtrack is their build up, so rich so high , like i can really feel it, can fly to the sky ,damn ZERO and Daredevil is fav
For sureeeee
"Books make you homesick for a place you've never been" and Ace Combat makes you patriotic for places that have never existed. Liberation of Gracemeria from Ace Combat 6 is the song that does that for me and was the song that introduced me to the series.
It doesnt have any vocals for you to review but figured id offer one of my favorites that gets me every time!
it's coming eventually!
Everytime those shields go down I always have goosebumps 100% of the time
As usual I love seeing how much fun you are having listening to the ace combat music!
Omg the look on your face when the music just SOUNDS like it is gonna drop and go hard and is just so soft instead. Love it!
Thank you for saying so 🔥
Even if it takes some growing pains and you using the easiest difficulty, I would love to see you try some ace combat games and give your reactions to them... as not only a VA and ex-singer, but also as someone experiencing these songs in the full sense of the game for the first time.
Loved your reaction man! For info, when the game is ready to be released, the producer said "I want a banger song to go with the action", and thus he asked the composer to make one and delay the game's release just for this song. And yes, the "action" sequence that goes with this song is absolutely amazing, they literally timed the song's tracks with the action, so when the vocal drops hard, it's perfectly timed with a major plot event
You can tell that the music team of Project Aces are REALLY passionate with their music, nearly all of their music is filled with passion and love. I hope you're gonna reacting to "Alicorn" next, it's a testament of how much passion they put into making music (and this is a music for DLC content, mind you)
I've been anticipating this since I first mentioned it, as many others did over a month ago. Did not disappoint at all!

I've been waiting so long for this!
this song is incredibly epic, and one of the best of AC7 and the entire saga.
thanks for bringing her to one of your videos!!!
ps: the inference of the mission in which this melody appears is quite correct, everything happens in the penultimate mission: "you, meeting with your allies and fighting alongside old enemies, all fighting to end the bloody war and defeat a boss that it surpasses them in power and number and that by itself can prolong the conflict and even extend it to other continents"... it is really an epic mission to play
It's amazing, isn't it?! Thank you for reviewing this title!

Don’t forget Archange which has the fuller lyric from Sol Squadron
You should watch a playthrough of the mission this song takes place. You would appreciate how the music lines up with what is going on in there.
“There pilots like you in every generation and I felled every last one of them”
They really do pump out really awesome songs for this game omg.
Such a good analysis like always ^^
Love what you make. Peace and love Marco ❤️
Can't wait to see you stream Ace Combat, we got another convert guys! Really looking forward to see what awesome tracks Keiki comes up with in Ace Combat 8
Same here man i believe in Keiki i know he is going to make a lot of Bangers in Ace Combat 8, Maybe even do the same trick he did with Daredevil lol.
No lie this song gives me goosebumps everytime i listen. Ace combats music should be awarded in the gaming industry
Even Simon Cowell would be proud of this song such a great song for a underrated game.
Marco you gotta react to Operation Bunker Shot from AC4!! There's no opera but the non vocal music is just as good
In a series full of incredible music Operation Bunker shot is without a doubt one of my favourites.
Monday!
Nice!
I love this song in this game, it perfectly accentuates what's happening in the mission and also the tone of the game in the end.
I wonder if you've done any Metal Gear Solid songs. This song reminds me of both "Quiet's song" and "Songs of the Father" from MGSV
A stream of Ace Combat 7will be fun. Lucky we got this game at all, it was at the brink of cancellation during it's troubled development.
This songs is far more impactful with the gameplay because it follows the context of the battle.
That exact moment the vocals hit the crescendo. Coming out of a cloud towards the Arsenal Bird just as the shields drop.
Perfection.
Its always you you are the hero and the music really does know how to make you feel really awesome when you play
The trailer using this song was just superb
I'm no musician. But when I first played the mission this track is from. Absolutely masterful composing from Keiki Kobayashi. And to think the game was delayed so he could write this masterpiece. I'm enjoying hearing someone like you break it down. I find it interesting listening to someone explain how the different parts work. Hope you keep doing these man.
I highly recommend the Project Wingman OST composed by Jose Pavli. In particular I’d love to watch your reaction to the “Kings” track that he recorded with a live orchestra as part of the games 1 year anniversary. It’s incredible.
Epic, but also a very different flavour of epic to the Ace Combat OSTs.
You know what Osea is by now. Another major player is Eusia. Eusia, in the beginning days of the war, hacked/stole two massive unmanned aircraft carrier dronesand used them against the Oseans and the rest of the International Union Peacekeeping Forces (UN standin.)
Each of these carriers, called Arsenal Birds (named Libery and Justice, though you never know which is which,) carry dozens of smaller UAVs, laser systems, short range air to air missile launchers, and long range anti-aircraft missiles.
