  • Jon Ronson is the journalist behind books like 'The Psychopath Test' and 'You've Been Publicly Shamed', and more recently the podcasts 'The Last Days of August' and 'The Butterfly Effect' investigating the porn industry. He talks to Krishnan while on a stage tour in the UK about the importance of curiosity, why he's decided to talk about his mental breakdown, and the ethics that drive his journalism.

      Grace Chan I have only gotten 10 minutes in and so far he has shown to have a ideology based on racism. He propagates tropes like white privilege reinforcing the atheist Je*_*h notion that people are first skin colour and then human (read any Naom Chomsky book for example). People to these people are Blacks, Yella’, White and red, while they are chosen to be the leaders of the pack. Mostly done out of “love” for the minions.
      These mislead people, atomists, whom has much insight but no spiritual clear sight, knowledge but no wisdom. Any one being led astray will denounce the creator out of fear. Fear is the driving mechanism behind their insane need to control everything. To go against the god-code.
      They understand it is us whom are to become what we envision within the word. But without carrying the image of the creator at heart, man will become a false god. A artificial instalment. A tragedy.

      @@ordsmedensmening9702 If you truly believe this then you are way too sensitive. Telling one joke that's racist shouldn't offend people unless it was hateful (and trust me people know when something's meant to be hateful and when it's supposed to be funny). Jokes are jokes nothing more nothing less if you look at a joke as hateful (usually people who do this just want to dehumanize the other person and tear them down in a sort of psychopathic way) you will never enjoy them and will not be able to even laugh at yourself or stereotypes/tropes of yourself. I call people by whatever name they want to be called, but when I refer to someone's skin color I call them black bc most black people dislike being called African-American because it dehumanizes them and makes them sound like a science experiment.

    Re the Danny Baker case; some of us black people are frustrated there’s little to zero representation of those of us who were not offended. Hard to believe a hard-core racist managed to get away with it for so long but then trips himself up over a silly joke.
    And what is this BS that intent doesn’t matter? Not only does it matter, it’s the very basis on which one should asses offence...,otherwise it’s simply ignorance. And ignorance can be dealt with simply with information.

    • @simonjohnston9488
      @simonjohnston9488 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tweet seemed to me the straw that broke the camel's back. And I'm not sure if many people were actually offended - that's another right-wing red-herring, in my mind. It's pretty much 'oh god this idiot hasn't learned that he needs to use his brain, and understand who the BBC's audience is. Maybe even spend time with black people, so he might learn that they're as human and varied as white people are.' A racist like him was lucky to keep that job as long as he did.

      With the culture we live in, there’s no room any longer for people to make mistakes and learn from them. Danny Baker comes from a culture where it’s normal to be mouthy and opinionated, to sound off without really thinking about the consequences and also he comes from a background that, let’s be honest, have quite a history of inward looking attitudes. Many people in his environment as he grew up were probably toxically racist. Danny Baker, being a public broadcaster and opinionated was sooner or later going to say something really offensive, not because he’s a bad person, but just because of the cultural background he grew up in. When this happened it should have been an opportunity for everyone to examine what’s going on and question the prejudice and grow a bit. But this is only possible in a culture where it isn’t the end of the world for someone to mis-speak like this. What I’m trying to say is that if we could stop judging the person speaking, it would allow us to make sensible choices about the things they say and question the racist assumptions that lay behind them so we could all learn and move forward from our own perspective and prejudices.

    You really can't have a worthwhile opinion on this without having read at least one of his books. He is a fantastic journalist, he doesn't get everything right re: Alex Jones, mainly because he obviously backed off going in deep on the political/CIA/conspiracy stuff, in order to tell more human tales. If you've read any of his books, they are funny, self-deprecating, seriously insightful - on a level of Louis Theroux, where he catches all sorts of people off-guard and gets them to reveal truth about themselves.
    He's mild-mannered and anxious, but wow, some people think that means he has a pedo vibe to him, good grief people, that's like saying the nervous kid in class looks like a mass shooter in waiting. What a shitty thing to say. If you don't like his style, go find something more shouty and testosterone-filled.

Steers well clear of pontificating and foisting his own opinions, engaging his subjects as people and letting them be themselves either for good or for ill and leaving the viewer to make up their own minds. I just hope as he has gotten older he has tamed his ego and learned from his mistakes because I would rather remember him for the great work he has done rather than his more egotistical aspect of his personality. I have to say that I am a fan of Jon Ronson's books, most of which I have read and found humorous and informative. However, I was surprised that Jon downplayed the Bilderberger's and Bohemian Grove by dismissing it as a "Conspiracy Theory" after having uncovered enough evidence to show that both are a serious problem. I believed at the time that he did that because he was afraid of being assassinated by the both groups which when you consider he lived with Islamic extremists is probably not very logical. As an person on the periphery, who had good inside information, I knew over ten years ago that their plan was to exterminate billions of human beings. Like Steven Hawking and Baron Martin Rees I had worked out that if those insanely psychotic groups remained in power then the actual result was inevitably the total extinction of the human race. I would have hoped that Jon Ronson was intelligent enough to work that out for himself, but apparently not. Alex Jones is over the top, loud and a bully at times but most of what he says is factually correct. He does make some mistakes as every human being makes some mistakes, but not so many mistakes as the Guardian or other mainstream media outlets. The public today know this is true. So I now wonder if Jon Ronson may be one of the bad guys now who is helping to bring about the planned "accidental" extermination of the human race. Disappointed.

    Alex has broken stories that no one else has so he is a forerunner . He gives deep insight into people by the guests he has on, for example interviewing a past girlfriend of Bill Clinton who was a lawyer . He is the only journalist I know of that entered and reported on Bohemian grove . We need the Alexes of this world to do their job .

      I'm curious of your opinion of the deposition video? The lawyer is a tool, but he does get Jones to admit that he didn't do any "deep research" into Sandy Hook like he said he did on air, but rather believed and reported what other's were saying, even though even Jones says his main "source" was a nutcase.

    • @DzondzulaKarakondzula
      @DzondzulaKarakondzula 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sashman02 I think Jones is too quick to assume something is a conspiracy and convinces himself of it hard because of some other things being true and conspiracies being very common in history and politics. Personally, i think one of his sources/insiders fed him bad info and he bit hard. Also, it was super unwise to walk into that minefield, even if he had some evidence that there was something fishy going on, it's too sensitive of a subject and it amounts to shooting yourself in the foot in the end.

    Both come across as incredibly deceitful. Jon's story about Alex Jones sounds completely ridiculous. He bullied people in a city so they invited him to a bar so they could beat him up... . Bronx tale style was it? Presumably they owned this establishment. He's 5 foot 8 or something so God knows who he bullied. But apparently the beating persuaded him to spend a decade in obscurity listening to callers rant and debate, while making himself a huge target for liberals, liberal bullies in fact. Not to mention torching his ability to make a career in anything else. One thing he gets right is mentioning Harvey wienstein having an ideology. That being a secular, hedonistic, liberal one :). Not surprised the therapist wanted to talk about this geezers mother.
