you can run java 8 on windows xp (an older version of it), so the latest version is 1.16.5 also because of microsoft account migration you need to now use atlauncher/multimc to be able to play the game since the old launcher is broken now
@@randomgamingin144p i would have to say: no. The regular XP machine (like my old laptop) did not want to run anything above 1.12.2, and i'd have to bet it was the fact that the system was weak. And, obiviously, 32-bit XP supports up to 4GB of RAM and can't run the newer processors and stuff. If you are a normal, casual guy, anything up to 1.12 is the XP's limit. I know, even 98 can run 1.16.2 but it's unplayable.
My grandpa gave me an old Windows XP laptop from 2004 (HP Pavilion dv1207) fairly recently. It's quite a cool device, though it's a little underpowered, even for its age. It comes in handy when doing things like running limera1n-based iOS jailbreak tools which don't work on later versions of Windows. I've also got a Windows XP x64 PC too, which is actually an HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF from 2011, but it supports XP x64 just fine. It dual-boots Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows 10 Pro. I'm sure you can guess which one I use more.

XP games only run on DX 9.0c. You need a gfx card that is compatible with DX9, maybe the newer gfx cards can idk. 4GB Ram was the highest ram available back then but you might be able to get away with higher ram as long as your gfx card, processor, and motherboard is compatible. Most high-end games require DX10-12 so you can't play up but you might be able to play down on a high-end PC as long as you can install Win XP which is a 32bit Windows program. I tried playing a DX9 game on Windows 10 64bit and I could not install DX 9.0c on it. That lead me on a quest to find a way to play it. I ended up getting an old PC with Win XP on it.
