    The rep counter is really helpful. It can also track a lot of exercises automatically like squats, bench press and curls. I do not want to miss it in the gym anymore. I've been using it for 6 years now. It's also great for skiing, golf, running and cycling. I even use it for racket sports, but it does not track your shots or anything related to just that acitivity.

    I'm switching from AW to Garmin, epix pro arriving next week and getting some prep work done. Very helpful videos! I'm going to use it for cycling, hiking and strength and just wondering about warm up sets here. Do you just not hit the lap button to start until your main working set and then stop again before the warm up sets for the next exercise or do you program warm up sets too? Keep up the great work on the videos!

    • @Aesthetic_Al
      @Aesthetic_Al  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad it was helpful! I usually have 3 workouts I follow weekly every 4 months and try to progressively overload the weight. So I have a warm up that when I am ready to start my main working sets I do hit the lap press button. After for another exercise I actually dont really do warm up sets but you can program a warm up if needed. I would probably do some warm ups during my "rest time"... Hope this helps you really got me thinking.

      When I have my workout logged into the watch. Its my favorite experience. I am more efficient at the gym, and it's easier (to me). • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@joggerino3284 . The watch can't make you do anything you don't want to do. However, all the performance metrics it collects for you, goal setting, and reminders helps with motivation. Also, Garmin is not mainly a weightlifting watch. Garmin watches, especially the higher end ones, can handle just about anything a normal person can throw at them. If you really want to go all out with a Garmin watch you can get one of their MARQ watches but they will set you back a couple of grand. I doubt you'll ever use all the features in their mid-range to high-end watches so the only decision is how much you want to spend.

    Question if you are doing dumbell workout or concentration biceps curl or dumbell row on right and left side do you split the set? or you just combine the rep and weights on both side?

    • @Aesthetic_Al
      @Aesthetic_Al  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just combine the reps. Single hand, dumbbell work is a bit tricky because if you are doing dumbell rows if your hand is resting it won't track the reps. I still use it just to count the set and HR but then tweak the reps on the watch after the set.

    Strength training with a Garmin Venu 2 watch is a chore. You constantly have to enter weights since the watch "forgot" which weights you were using in the previous set. The number of reps is for the most part OK. But then there is no way to enter the exercise performed on the watch (you have to correct after the fact in Garmin connect), even on watches that have the hardware for voice input. And sadly, Garmin is not very responsive with respect to suggestions.

    What are the benefits of having the strength workout on your watch besides the math? does it do something to the other metrics the watch is tracking? It seems like a lot of work to enter in the phone, compared to the paper tablet I keep? I do like how you walk through the process most people spend less than a minute on a feature, just so they can talk about as many features as possible.

    • @Aesthetic_Al
      @Aesthetic_Al  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In regards to any type of health or workout metrics no difference as far as I can tell. I tested it by changing for example the "work load" on lifts or the time duration and nothing.
      I am using this because this summer I signed up for a powerlifting meet and hired a coach. All my Lifting is done base on Percentages % on my compound lifts. (Feature 5) in this video.
      So it helps me as workout journal and I made my Garmin Connect Workouts accessible to my coach so he can see what weights im hitting weekly.
      As a workout Journal Garmin really looks some great features from Apple Apps Like "Heavy, Gymaholic, Strong".
      Hope this helps brother

      When you are already on training mode simply free-styling a lift. When you complete a exercises you only hit the button to complete the exercise and by default the rest timer starts. You can keep doing this until the workout is over.
      It can help so at the end of the workouts you can see what's the average rest time in between sets.

    I'm looking for a smartwatch that I can follow my training at the gym, so would be any Wear OS device that can run an app like Hevy or Strong.
    Since Garmin have his own training builder, do you think it's better? It's exclusive for strength training, or I can custom the reps and rest time?

    • @Aesthetic_Al
      @Aesthetic_Al  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have used heavy & Strong. on the AW my favorite was "Gymaholic". I say that Garmin strength training is very similar to both those 2 apps. Heavy and strong. (Gymaholic I just next level).
      the 2nd part yes you can customize the reps and rest time.
      You can customize by time example (2 minute rest in between sets or even as much to as rest until my heart rate goes back to zone 1)
      Hope this helps Henrique

      sooooo Garmin when it comes to Nutrition Pair really well to my fitness pal. At that point on the watch you dont have a view on nutritional data. On the Garmin connect app on your mobile device there you have a really good insight without needing to go directly to my fitness pal. Hope this helps (And yes it syncs with other nutritional apps but My fitness pal is the one that has a seamless integration)

      Check out the video I just made it might help clarify. Almost all of 2023 Garmin watches will have all the strength training features and I do an accuracy comparison I was shocked: but if for the price from least to greatest:
      Vivoactive 5, Venu 3, Epix Pro.
      I mention those because you said gym and didn't mention anything about other sports so I excluded the Forerunner series. Hope this helps brother. Cheers!

      Good point this it is really similar to the days of writing it down in a notebook. It really was helpful to me while I was following a powerlifting program. My coach would program me my workouts and I sent them back via the Garmin connect app on the website. Point 5 was really useful because it would help to calculate my 1rm and adjust my lifts for the next week. Just my experience. everyones different
