  • @gearoftones8585
    @gearoftones8585 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    It always amuses he how people get so angry at being filmed in public and are utterly convinced you need their permission despite the fact they are being filmed by the state and private companies as well as on dash cams everywhere they go but dare to stand filming what you can see in public and some people utterly lose their minds and take it as an aggressive act. There needs to be a huge educational campaign on the right to film anything you can see in a public space. If you're in public, you can be filmed. It's as simple as that.

    • @djinnxx7050
      @djinnxx7050 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You make a fair point. Though the difference is that it's literally a guy standing there filming you, even if only in your head is it you specifically. Like, some just don't like being the centre of attention, especially when they're unaware of the intent behind it. People get self conscious, some lash out defensively, it's not hard to understand really. A little empathy goes a long way.
      I get where people are coming from. I wouldn't like some random guy filming me, I'm already annoyed that I'm constantly filmed by CCTV, I don't need a member of the public doing it to. Yet conversely, I have no such issues when I'm skating, like shit, if you want to film me losing teeth dropping a ten set, be my guest. I want that shit filmed for posterity and if I'm not filming it myself, I'd welcome the audience. It's basically time and place.

    • @gearoftones8585
      @gearoftones8585 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@djinnxx7050 if people are so concerned about being seen, they'd be as well not leaving their house. Cameras are everywhere and people need to accept that if you're in public, you might well be filmed. The same way the state films us, the same way public transport films us and the same way private businesses film us, not to mention the police and dash cams. One citizen holding a camera isn't going to harm you unless you're saying citizens shouldn't have the right to film but everyone else who I listed should?

      @@gearoftones8585 As i understand it today, many tv shows, TH-camrs and news broadcasts have to blur peoples faces if an individual requests not to be filmed. But only if they request it.
      It's like the organ donor system in Wales. Instead of previously opting in, which was correct, they instead made it an opt out system, which means you consent by existing and are effectively guilted into remaining on the donor register. You now have to go through some hassle to opt out, thus making it more likely that you have compliance by making it harder to reject than to accept what was previously an infringement on individual rights to decide either way before any action was then taken.
      Obviously, for organ donors, you're generally dead so can hardly opt in at the moment you can actually donate. But for being filmed, we accepted it by doing nothing about it, and now here we are in a surveillance state, and the last thing some people want to tolerate is some random person also filming them without their express permission.
      If you just happen to be passing by, then there's no need to kick up a stink, so most don't. But if you're stationary and feel like you're the subject being filmed by an individual, there is a limit to individual tolerances. One camera, two cameras, four cameras, eight cameras... and now this prick just brazenly standing there filming you, you can't attack or show your distaste to the man behind the other cameras as they're far away in some data centre, but you can verbally express it to that guy in front of you.
      Have you never previously walked past CCTV and raised your middle finger in the early days? I did. If I did it now, my finger would become very tired. We can't wave our middle fingers forever.
      You understand what I'm saying?
      This dude, he's simply like an extension of the surveillance state that people can actually have a go at. And so, they express their frustrations towards him. I'm not saying that they're right in doing that, I simply understand it. I think we all have to understand eachother better, have respect for others. You don't repair a broken society by antagonising, whether by accident or purposefully, the broken cogs within it.

      It seems a lot of major cities in the UK are in a rapid decline. City centres are now just a scumbag central. I'm from Leics and the city centre is almost a no go area for me personally. Once I'm there, I want to leave immediately. I used to love going into the city centre as a kid, but now completely loathe it. Too many spice heads, drunks and bellends who harrass you for absolutely no reason. Travelling up to Manchester gave me the same vibes. Went for a football match and have never felt more unsafe walking around a city at all times during the day. This area in particular felt like a hot-pot of crackheads and scum. Oddly enough, London was the one place I felt completely safe.

      I’m in Newcastle, Australia. I’m from London originally. Moved to Australia when my kids were in primary school. Every time I come home, I’m a little more sad about how I don’t recognise it.

      Melbourne has a huge problem with drug abuse, ice & meth, maybe you don't see them hanging around like in Manchester although Hosier Lane was known to be pretty grim.

    “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
    Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
    And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?
    Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
    Matthew 6:25-27, 34

    The funny thing is that most people today seem to have such a thirst to get social media fame (thankfully I'm not one of them), and I can imagine that those who object to being filmed in all likelihood have their social media plastered with photos and videos documenting their lives, even the most mundane aspects of it.

      South Park nailed that subject once. Cartman complaining about his privacy rights while on increasingly big social media platforms to ultimately a brain implant that directly puts his thoughts on twitter: thoughts about his privacy.

      "...and by the entrance to McDonalds a Mancunian lesser ravaged crackhead is scavenging for its next fix.. "
      Nature this diverse presents a huge challenge for the undiseased native speices.... but when the morning mist rises, its clear some blue and white chequered hogs have taken up positions to reclaim the territory....

      And here we have a spice head in his natural environment perched upon a bench falling in and out of consciousness. We've got to keep our distance and be careful not to spook the creature as they have been known to get a little stabby when scared. Watch how he rocks back and forth in a mating call to all the women spice heads who come stumbling over to view him in all his glory. Fights have been known to break out between groups of women vying for the man's last drag of spice and some will fight to the death to protect their stash.
      Something like that would be great in a David Attenborough style
