- 'Marks of Mana' Pt 4 looks at the original legend of Tatau in Samoa intended for women, and the first female Tufuga tatau who has been gifted the tools of the au again. This documentary looks at the history of the malu and tatau for women across the Pacific as these ancient patterns move into the modern day. The meanings of these age old marks for women have often been overlooked by the dominant male tatau culture, but are now being brought to light in these beautiful stories.
From the malu of Samoa, to the Moko Kauae in Aotearoa, the tep tok markings of Papau New Guinea and the lost tatau for women in Fiji, the Cook Islands and Tonga, 'Marks of Mana' explores these ancient marks that are being re-imagined in different ways across the Moana.

6.40 where can I find this beautiful song 😍
I'm 28 and feel like I missed out on everything not being born in Samoa. As if it's too late for me and that now my daughters have to miss out on the language and the culture, the art, history and I just feel so disconnected. I hope it's not too late.
Never too late, it's in your blood. You can start incorporating Samoan language and culture into your lives a little every day.. If you want to learn, surround yourself with Samoans, especially those with a rich knowledge of the culture and language.
My children are half cast and they also learn my culture through attending Matavai cultural pacific arts - a centre that teaches cultural dance, values and traditions to our children. In addition to me teaching them language and values in our home.
Don't be discouraged, you can do it.
Nice💪👍
@6:53 anyone know the song please
women pride!!!
❤😍
Do you need permission from a Samoan relative to get a Malu or is it okay to just get one if uu are of Samoan heritage
seek for guidance through the elders where u inherited the culture x
Yes , as long as you Samoan blood in you
You can have malu
Krd was the original spot in the 80s when pacific islanders lived in the inner city
It would be cool if you could do a video about the Filipino Batek Tataus
anonymity mori I dont think they will because it’s a channel of Polynesian culture and the Phillipines aren’t in Polynesia
It would be cool. But I don’t think that’ll happen because this is a Polynesian Network.
That will be a good idea since its tattoo and culture related.
Lol racist samoans, polys originated from the part of the world, study your language.
Too bad for us in Fiji it has discontinued when we were introduced to Christianity 😊
