Unfortunately the internet has labeled Halsey as this cringy artist and countinue to do so , I would say that if I can't have love and power changed the perspective of some people and start to take her seriously hopefully with the release of next album the great Impersonator the internet will stop sleeping on her .

I feel more like it’s the media as a whole, rather than the internet. Because the internet will always have a vastly different opinion when it comes to music/artists in general. But the media is telling the masses of people, what artist is “cool and trendy” enough. And it’s normally who they choose to represent. Such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, etc. because lbh… they’re the “cookie cutter” artists that you know won’t surprise you and switch it up too much. Halsey has always been on the alternative side of pop. She shocks people, pushes her creative boundaries and gives zero fucks while doing so. That simply terrifies them because they can’t control her.

I genuinely believe Manic was one of the most life changing albums I’ve ever heard - its confessional quality captures the emotional rollercoaster of being a woman in her mid twenties so accurately that it helped me understand things I didn’t even know, or accept, about my own life. For that album alone she deserves all the recognition in the world.
As far as I can tell after listening to Lonely Is The Muse and Ego, it seems like The Great Impersonator will be even more marvellously heart wrenching. Can’t wait

I’ve worked CS at a concert venue for years and out of every concert Halsey was by far the most accommodating and kind to us workers, making sure to call us out to recognize us. I can’t stress enough how unique and amazing that is. And her fans were also by far the sweetest people I’ve ever dealt with, my whole job was fixing problems and those lovelies didn’t give me ANY problems for the whole night, and one girl even gave me a pride flag. Love Halsey and her fans sm 😭💗💗

@@jimthecactus7425 Lol I love sharing this story! Worst concert experience was probably when the security guys outside the venue told people they could leave their bags with them in the parking lot if they were too large to be allowed in via the strict bag policy… then I had the joy of finding out they had done that right before they were legally required to clock out, (I need to mention the security at this venue legitimately consisted of 16 year olds) I called the venue manager and he told me that since nobody signed anything, I need to just leave the bags. And sure enough, all THIRTY bags got stolen and I had a crowd of angry people yelling at me for it at the end of the night. Worst of which was a girl who left her Gucci bag on the ground and spat a big ol lougie at my face because i had “stolen her purse and credit card”… I may have been the person to file the incident reports but unfortunately for her i was also the person who files venue misconduct forms… 😂

I really loved Halsey as a teen, her badlands era was so pivotal towards me. Granted, I found some songs of hers corny as a very loud fan (castles was the song I hated the most and I wasn't really that into the Chainsmokers collab). But I officially grew out of her by the hopeless fountain Kingdom era. I really did not like it, I felt the most corny or unrefined parts of her Songwriting and aesthetic world building were the most on display the most this era.
Then the outside relationship and social media drama really tuned me out of her. Ironically, my friends LOVED her in this era. My ex-friend had a pixie cut inspired by her, she became icon status the time I decided to withdraw my love for her. Felt really funny in an odd way, her presence surrounded me in a time when I wasn't that into her.
Manic really changed my view on her and made me become a casual fan again. Didn't really care for the tracklisting and thought the creative direction could've been more cohesive but it felt like a genuine attempt at her songwriting and vision again instead of a sell out vibe like hfk (she was going through a lot mentally and relationship-wise during this era I think but the album felt like two steps back imo). I also loved her using her painting as marketing, felt like that was really personal and beautiful
Then I heard her most currently released album a few months after it was released. Omggg... AMAZING. It was so cool to come back to her and watch her really reflect on the previous era and define her craft.
And the recent run of singles from this new era and the concept makes me feel so nostalgic as a fan, I feel like my inner kid is vindicated through her artistry being praised but guilt in a weird way because I didn't stick by her during my least favorite album era despite that era having the most traumatic moments in her life behind it(which is an interesting concept in itself, both from the perspective of the consumer and the artist).
Such a complex feeling comes by me when I see Halsey again, how she was perceived (even builled or stereotyped for elements of her music while people not taking into account her issues in life), how I perceived her going through the motions as a fan of her from multiple spectrums (full fan, casual listener and hater) and seeing her rise up again in popularity. And I hope with this new era, comes a collective retrospective on her work and and her HIGHLY underrated influence on the Pop scene. I hate using that word and I know people might disagree since she's highly known, but I mean videos like these discussing her artistry. Like it's crazy, no one makes the same level of pop TH-cam documentaries on her like other Pop acts of the Tumblr Era (but Ashley Norton's video is perfect). She definitely influenced Billie and the general Alt-Pop sound and no one talks about it???? It just makes me uncomfortable when she's just solely talked about as the "cursive" singer in passing when she has brought so much to the current Pop scene whether people like the contributions or not while also being brave enough to withstand public ridicule and performing with chronic illnesses. I wish the best for her and ty for giving her rightful flowers
(Here's a flower since you read this far lol 🌷)

I had a similar experience. HFK felt like a try hard concept album and manic had some great songs but some songs, music videos (you should be sad) and interludes on the album further turned me away from her music and art. I think she took everything related too manic too seriously and I don’t like an album having ‘lore’ in general. I think If I can’t have love… is a concept album done the right way. Curious for what she comes out with next. I like her stripped version of Lucky a lot

I recall halsey saying she was funneled into the sound and pop for hfk. It felt stilted like columbia wanted to funnel her into something that wasnt authentic. They have been trying to create a rock album SINCE badlands. I mean growing up and finding yourself in this industry has to be hard. People are always shocked when i say i listen to halsey because they have this concept of their old sound and no absolutely nothing about their influences. I think since columbia has given her the ability to make what they want truly, its been able to thrive. Manic was truly the beginning of that journey. Trent and Atticus have never worked and produced another artists work outside their own, so thats a huge deal.
I will also say that the point of manic was that it wasn't cohesive, she literally created it during s bipolar manic episode.

i have been WAITING for someone to discuss halsey and this album. i feel like every other artist that is in the mainstream, and most definitely arent underrated, gets their flowers and is overly considered underrated except for her. every time i go on twitter and there is a hit tweet about her, its always in a way to undermine her and treat her as if she is still a "cringey" 18 year old. she is the only artist right now who can effectively execute a concept from pre-release to post-release and have every part of the experience mean something. people completely disregard the level of work involved in every one of her projects, and how her entire discography is one big cohesive world of music. shes just so impressive as a storyteller and i really hope people start to explore her discography the way she deserves them to

Saw someone said Halsey had no charisma, that’s like the most absurd opinion I’ve ever heard from someone.Halsey’s diablo performance, Victoria secret, hold me down where she miscarriages, and so much so more literally proved otherwise, and are they even aware why she wasn’t active ? She literally had a baby, her absence in putting herself in the spotlight is much more than most artists is bc she wanted to keep her and her children safe.its one of the major reasons why you need to take in mind why she didn’t has as much appearance in the industry as a lot of other rising artists do. Also if you really open your eyes to her discography each one of her songs and album concepts there always something you can take away with, whether be it lyrical, characters and music wise, her uniqueness in her choice of fashion and tone setting in her concepts is something different most artists from back then. Her ability to tell a story from different perspectives and not afraid to voice out her honest feelings as a victim of her past and femininity is the biggest win of her artistry. If you don’t like her music taste, fine, you’re free to like what you like, but to say Halsey has no charisma when she literally serves ten times better than 80% of the girlies today is just ridiculous.

Speaking of the overexposed chainsmokers song (I'm up to 2:09 as of writing this so idk if it comes up later), when I saw her live during her hfk tour, I remember her talking to the crowd about how much she hated this song and how much distain she had for this song, and at the same time, her coming to the realisation and acceptance of how much this song has probably impacted people for the positive. She started talking about how this song was probably played when people had their first kiss, at their high school graduation, their high school formal/prom, at people's wedding, in the car when people are taking their first newborn home, etc. At the time, I thought, "fuck yeah this shit's beautiful", and 6-7 years later, I still think, "fuck yeah this shit's beautiful"

I am OBSESSED with IICHLIWP and it's so infuriating that nobody else talks about what a brilliant album it is. She's been doing so many interesting things since Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, which I did not like, and she's so intelligent and so ridiculously good at maturely articulating how she feels and so good at evolving her sound and image while remaining true to her vision. Genuinely a unique driven innate talent I've been following them since 2014 (with varying degrees of respect on my age, I went through a "Halsey is cringy" phase too) and they've had the artistic trajectory I DREAAAM of every music artist having. I was just wondering earlier today what Halsey would have to do to finally undo the "cringy" rep she has. I remember noting when Manic came out that Halsey seemed to be turning away from being radio friendly and towards experimenting and trying to perfect her sound and everything they've made since makes my heart sing. I wish I could tell them how deep my respect goes for them and their work

It feels like Halsey’s in a new zone creatively, there’s no focus on “hits” like you said, which lends a freedom to it all (and makes the album stronger I think). She just had no charisma, but a healthy backbone. Her music and videos are great, but she’s not very marketable as a large media plant

@@namphuongnguyen8569thats a gross misrepresentation. She has literally been battling cancer and lupus for 2 years and fans were dogging her for doing what she has always done which is make a self deprecating song about a very traumatic experience. Ill admit the promo for lucky was drawn out, but they can have boundaries with fans and be upset at the vitriol entitled consumers feel.

She is a good lyricist but her music sucks balllsssssss. The only thing of hers that I can listen to and love is the NIN redux one. And for that she will always have my respect
