We've been using Mavic 2 Pro > Garanin Apps RTMP MiniServer > vMix for three years now to cover live rowing events. It's an excelllent quality combination running at 1080p out of the DJI Smart Controller HDMI. There's nothing in this price range that touches it. I can only imagine that the Mavic 3 Pro via the Ocusync 3 video link is even better.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial, but am stuck halfway. Am trying to connect my DJI Mini 2 Drone. I have keyed in the RTMP local Server address to my DJI App. But where do i key in the stream name on my DJI App?
I'd usually just stream to Facebook or TH-cam as unlisted, open up the stream link wherever I am(most likely quite a distance away) on a laptop as full screen, taking it into vmix as NDI or just capture the laptop into my vmix pc. I am definitely looking into this server option.
We didn't try a screencaster from the phone itself, so I'm not sure how it would fare. It may work, if you already have the drone, you could try it out.
I stream from my drone controller. Any sport with permission from the organizers though. I'm wondering if I need a licence to fly drone and stream from it? @vMix
You'd need to check with your local laws to see what is permitted. Each country/state is different when it comes to drones and what you can film/where you can fly them.
I live in Wisconsin. I can get a Hobby License for $5 but if I wish to sell my videos I need another one that costs $150 & from what I saw of the test you just about need to know what Pilots know! I just do it for fun.
Using the RTMP stream emthod, what if the drone controller / phone was not on the same wifi network as the computer running vmix? Would it still work? If not, is there any workaround?
If that was the case then you'd need to be able have an external server that you can send the RTMP feed to. You'd need an IP address for that server to receive the feed, then you'd need to setup a stream output that you could accept in vMix. This would add additional latency and might be tricky to set up. Unfortunately we don't have any tutorials on setting this up as there are a lot of things to consider. You may be able to find some guides online though.
I have a Dji mini 2 drone i want to connect it to the server i downloaded the DJI go software on my iphone the software looks different from what was showing in this video so i am unable to get the proper software to get for my dji mini drone. Can you please help

Are you guys going to do anything about the design for the interface ? I mean sure its a high quality software used for extreme tasks but atleast will u guys add a bit of modernistic touches to the interface ?

What about SRT? In case the drone is in a remote location and using SRT rather than RTMP. For example via Larix Screencaster on the phone.

The DJI Smart Controller HDMI out gives you a clean video feed. Streaming the phone's screen will not, as it includes the GUI.

We haven't tried that. Have been meaning to get a Pi4 to do some testing, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

There are a number of different options out there. MIST server is a free option and there are paid options such as RTMP MiniServer.
