This is literally what the game sounded like in my head when I was a kid. Thank you for putting this together! Love this and your GoldenEye album soo much.
I think they mean.....the feeling they get from this is like what they felt like as a kid. Because this doesn't sound like the original which is ingrained into my memory.
@@troywright359 You are correct. I know what the real SNES OST sounds like, but to me as a kid the OST might have sounded as grand as this because the game blew me away. I just got the same feelings I did then when listening to this.
Completely agree. As a kid there's no difference between 8 bit and symphonic, its all as good as the rest. Not picky or elitist, just kids hearing the sound embellishing the scenes at play. Simple.
I still play this game even right now and they both sound just like each other. If you play SNES on modern tv or headset, you can hear everything you can hear here. Just very compressed down for obvious reasons. Which is much credit to this man that remakes them
This game Is the living proof that graphics doesnt really matter. Give the game a unique soundtrack , interesting plot, imersive gameplay and Its good to go.
Back in 1995, this game had amazing graphics (Still does). Back when I was a kid, there were only 3 Zelda games, Zelda 1, Zelda 2: AOL, and this. This game was the go-to back in the early 90s.
There are 2 kinds of 2D Graphics, pixel art and 2.5 what you see with modern games like Metroid: Dread. Both styles are good, but pixel art holds a certain artistic magic that you just don't see in modern VGs.
It has a lot to do with the fact that back then, they had such simplistic "digital instruments" and only so many of them to work with. They had to _really_ get creative to make catchy melodies. That's why they still slap to this day. Those melodies still stand on their own, even when made with completely different "instruments."
What I love about this, is that there aren't many extras added. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy some remakes with extras or other new instruments and such added that make it even more epic and refreshing, but this here feels like what the music would have sounded like If they had been able to compose it to this quality for the game back then. I think you can hear how much love you have for the originals, and how much love you put into remaking them.
As one of my favorite games of all time, the End Credits hits hard still my favorite LOZ song. This remaster encompasses everything I love about the OST but add an etherical element. Bravo excellent work!
This actually brought me to tears. A Link to the past was the first Zelda game I ever played and is so very special to me. To be able to hear what a modern remake might sound like is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in a long time. This is a symphony and a masterpiece.
Dude, I've heard COUNTLESS remasters, but you're on another level. You absolutely nail the principle; total respect of the original material, modern technique, perfect choice of instrumentation, you never overdo it or add unnecessary things. I don't know how you feel about Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger, but I seriously hope you plan on tackling these. You probably would be one of the first to be able to pull off something decent. Whatever the fuck you will do in the future anyway, I'll be psyched to check it out.
Best Zelda game and lovely music remake..played it as a child, teen and adult and never dissapoints. Those where the days ..simplex times in life and when Zelda was Zelda .. Dear Zelda creators thankyou for this but please bring back Hyrule with Castles, Classic fairytale elements and AWSOME MUSIC..dont forget It.
One of my favourite OSTs of all time. Great job on these! I don't suppose there's a chance you could upload the uncompressed audio files for people to enjoy? My other personal fav is Perfect Dark. Seems that you've remade the Goldeneye OST, so I'm sure you played PD as well? Both were done largely by Grant Kirkhope, love his work.
Wow, unbelievable! Can't believe I just found this. I listen to Zelda music when I'm studying. :) This game was such a big part of my childhood. If Nintendo ever remasters A Link to the Past, I would argue for them to use your remaster for every soundtrack. Well done.
I always liked how the sword looked in the art. (Aside from that goofy hand guard lol) I always liked how busted up the actual sword is. I feel like that gives it life in a way. Also the hilt looks really nice to me, with the brown bandages and gold accent at the end. It's nice seeing the master sword in a diffrent light.
I believe the sword on the cover is actually the Fighter Sword (the one Link’s uncle gives him), the Master Sword on the games Home Screen has the distinct hand guard and the glowing white blade
Wow! This is fantastic. This is like what you remember the music sounding like, until you go back and realize it was only 16-bit music you were listening to as a kid. Really impressive.
Really? You went back as an adult and were disappointed by how the original sounded? You suddenly heard only limitations and restrictions instead of wonder and magic like you do here? The original is FAR better. But this is a nice effort
@@troywright359 The original score is a masterpiece, but clearly limited by the technology of the SNES. In this version you can hear the instrumental tracks as they are intended to be heard. Compare the harp in the intro to the 16-bit sample of a harp in the original. I mean, I like the sound of the S-SMP but let’s not have nostalgia blinders about how great real instrumental compositions sound.
@@davehugstrees 'intended' to be heard? No, the original soundtrack has a style to it. It's not hampered at all, which is why for Four Sword Adventures on the GB, they revisited this snes style for the soundtrack as it was heavily influenced on the snes ALTTP. They had technology to have all orchestral real life instruments, but they CHOOSE not to, and it didn't hinder them there either. Point being, original kicks ass, but you can prefer the knock off remakes if you like
sempre derramo lágrimas quando escuto essa trilha sonora, marcou muito a minha infância e definiu minha personalidade e gostos, obrigado por esse remake.
This is fantastic! I am looking into trying my hand at VGM composition and would love to try and remake classic tracks as a way to learn. Brandon, if you see this, I'd love to chat further about how you did this
This is so epic! I'm making a 3D Remake of the game (maybe just the beginning because is too much work) hope you don't mind if I use this music for a video of the remake, I'll put you on the credits. I still dont even create the channel but i will do it :D
Try downloading the mp4 by a TH-cam converter and using a live wallpaper software. (try searching ytmp3 converter, and copy the link to the vid, there will be a mp4 option)
Any chance we could get a download link for the individual tracks, like you provided for your Goldeneye music? I listen to it all the time and would love to add these tracks to my usual playlist.
I like what you did with Dark Golden Land. I like how you added some sound effects at the start of a few various tracks, and the Cave track is nice. But I want to be productively critical here; most of this could have been a lot better. For the most part this remake isn't trying anything new; it's not trying to emphasize any emotion nor trying to bring a fresh interpretation to the original; it's just trying to be exactly like the original. Which can work, but if that's what you were going for then you'd really want to use better sound fonts. Most of the instruments sound like outdated synth, but not in a deliberate way. With the Goldeneye remake, the few strings and other orchestra sounds were overshadowed by guitars and distinctly electronic sounds, and in that environment the slightly synthesized sounds really worked to compliment the feel. You don't notice the quality of the sample when it's got an electric guitar playing over it, and it probably sounds better that way. But for A Link to the Past, the original was written to sound like a live orchestra, and using synth/samples that don't sound *quite* like live instruments makes it feel like it isn't quite reaching it's proper goal. The synthesized qualities become too noticeable when they are given the center stage. I think this soundtrack would have been better served to add a more original interpretation that would have worked better to embrace the tools you have available. You adjusted Dark Golden Land and a few others in way to deliver more emotion, and that was great. The Cave track used a deliberate synth sound to great effect. I would have liked to have seen more like that.
This is literally what the game sounded like in my head when I was a kid. Thank you for putting this together! Love this and your GoldenEye album soo much.

Nintendo had such amazing music back in the day. Definitely was a huge part of their success.
It has a lot to do with the fact that back then, they had such simplistic "digital instruments" and only so many of them to work with. They had to _really_ get creative to make catchy melodies.
That's why they still slap to this day. Those melodies still stand on their own, even when made with completely different "instruments."
And they still do have good music. Just think of the whole scoring from Tears of the Kingdom.
Love this. Definitely in the style of the original with a faithful ear for the update.
