To see Joan Fucking Jett up there, wiping away tears, and saying to Taylor, "...we'll form our supergroup when I get there with you..." that took me OUT.
Video quality is impeccable. Keepin’ the 80’s strong. Nothing as close to a youth pill as listening to 80’s rock and roll. Poor kids today can and will not ever understand how this music still affects us…
I wasn’t a bog Foo fan (I spent the 90s and aughts listening to classic rock, but am from Seattle so knew Dave. Saw the Foos on Carpool Karaoke and just fell in love with Taylor. Then ran across some Dee Gees videos and that love grew. RIP Taylor. The world was a brighter place because you were in it.
@@abelmontalvo4052 I actually casually knew them. I went to college in a small town called Ellensburg and that was where they were from. Just a bunch of ratty nice guys wanting Mexican food ( I was a waitress at the restaurant). When I put 2 + 2 together I went to their table with their food and said, "I cannot believe it is you guys." He said, "It's not babe, can I have some salsa?" Nice guys.
Thankfully, this is not a dual memorial. Let's not forget Travis could have died on June 28th from "life threatening Pancreatitis". He is a testament to the human will and human spirit. Glad your still with us Travis.. Rock on Brother..
I saw Joan and The Blackhearts play their last show of the year, here in Pennsylvania, the night before this was filmed. Happy to see her join her friend Dave here to celebrate Taylor`s life and music !
Seeing Joan tear up like that hit me. Hearing a legend like her talk about this young stud like that, she really cared about him. It's still weird seeing them without Taylor. Also God damn Travis is a fucking beast.
I'm surprised with how many drummers feel that way. I can think of at least 10 drummers that play similar music and have much more diversity, have better feel, cooler and more unique fills and actually smile once in awhile.
Prob 15yrs ago I was at a small country fair in CT, not knowing that Joan Jett and the Black Hearts were the musical guest for the evening. WTF, she's here? She was fucking awesome.
Well said Joan 👏😇😇😇we all felt Taylor was our freind loved his talent and his charming smile, wishing strength to his family , freinds and fans and hopefully when I'm there with everyone else we've lost well b ❤ 💙 ♥ 💜 grooving to a mega super group. RIP Taylor and everyone else gone to early 😪

If you look it up, Dave tells a great story of how he bought his daughters the Joan Jett Barbie, and then how Joan came to his home and amazed them that the "real" Barbie they had was at their house.
People dont understand that being addicted to certain drugs, isnt necessarily just a choice that you were like "yea let me try this shit and be high". Alot of times, medicine, stress and a problem even a sickness, then people start to self medicate to feel better, when youre in a mind like that its not easy to just say, im not going to take it today. It could even be a prescribed medication. Taylor definetly wasnt just a party addict, God bless what he was going thru, but obviously he also had a health problem in his heart. Those saying nasty things that he was a drug addict, i hope you never go thru it or have a person close to you actualy commit suicide because of something like that. Taylor died from a health problem, not because of being an addict or taking his life.
No some people just don't get it must have missed Gabor Mate discussing his new book too seventy percent of Americans are on at least one prescription medication and more than fifty percent take more than two the majority also have high blood pressure it's hard to heal in a toxic environment lots of stress and trauma. I think some like it when they can look at a talented "star" and just dismiss them as a junkie loser instead of a human being because they maybe have no talent themselves or empathy and who knows what drugs they take or what they will die from?
Dave has so much respect for women he plays/covers their music and always includes their skills. He’s an amazing modern non sexist man. You should see his Peaches cover of F the pain away.
I would love see Taylor Hawkins son Shane be the new drummer for the Foo Fighters. He did an amazing job playing My Hero for his dad and my Lord it was blowing my mind he was that good.
Ms. Jett, Do you remember winking at me as I was in the pit at The Warp Tour / Cal. State Fullerton in 2009 while you were performing? I do ! Your still my #1. R.I.P. Taylor.
Dave's neck must be painful. Bad posture and head banging do damage. But he always seems like one of the nicest people in the music industry. Joan sounds as good as when I saw her in the 80s.
Let's take a hot minute to appreciate the living legend that is... Pat Smear 🖤😍
Patzilla is my guitar hero
Pat is an icon. I hope he stays on the scene for 15 more years at least.

Perfect musician mix for this song. Perfect guest drummer, I love it. Also, Joan's voice has aged perfectly for her music. I love it!

Dave talks to the audience like they're in his living room . I think that's one of the reasons people love him .
The first time I saw Joan Jett live was in London when she opened for The Who. She blew me away. Total pro.

Joan Jett Concert in the 80's was the best Concert I have ever been to. She Rocked!
This is emotional and so good at the same time. No pretentiousness, just real people, real talk and good old fashioned rock 'n roll.
Joan produced the Germs. The circle is unbroken.
That is what's so great about music. It's a family tree 🌳

Dave and all the guys are great but anytime I thought of the foos I thought about Taylor. To me he was the band.

I like how Dave and Chris have classic guitars for this one, the explorer looks tiny compared to that giant Dave Ghohl Gibson, and a flying V.
I like how Travis basically played Smells like Teen Spirit for the chorus.
