Very late, but I wanted to mention that you can study vanilla quest items with this mod similarly to the imbued items the mod adds. You can actually study Meridia's Beacon, that you had in your inventory, and learn some archetypes from it.
Haven't not touched Skyrim in like what feels likes 10 years. A VERY long time, 5+ years at the very least. And this mod looks amazing. I wouldn't mind seeing a lets play with this mod focusing around this mod. I highly doubt I'd ever get back into playing skyrim and modding, especially since I always go overboard with 150+ mods, and that was back when Frostfall was still somewhat new, and that's a lot of work cleaning up, testing, fixing, configering and all what stuff. So would love to see you go through the game with this mod instead, for people's, and my, enjoyment to really see what a playthrough with this mod would be like.
I just started using this mod after watching your series on it. Its great for a Vigilant of Stendar playthrough since they always go on about searching and confiscating " heretical" artifacts.
If you didn't know, you can study the thesis for a ton of experience in that school. To do so, just go to your inventory and activate the thesis -> Study. They won't have secondary attributes, so you can just spam it.
Hey bro great video. I just wanted to let you know that according to Enai, you should load Odin below Apocalypse; It has something to do with checking the script and removing duplicate spells from the game. If you want a more detailed explanation, he mentions it on the MOD page for Odin I believe.
Yeah, the more complicated the thesis, the more material is required. There are some addons to Spell Research that make it easier to get / craft ink or quills. Worst case scenario you can use the command line to give you as much as you need.
@@Sethiroth_Gaming i can always count on you for replies :) i found the issue. i had to spawn in all the different quills in console command and one of the quills qualified for writing material.
Can you do a roleplay play through as a wizard with this, Vatican magic from ordinator, and the anti magic cuffs prison mod. Any magic mods you want to add also is fine. And any realistic mods would be cool also a mod that lets you start a storefront sell your magic and add the mods you mentioned.
Wow, that's a very specific playthrough style :) What kind of alternate start did you have in mind? Vanilla? College of Winterhold? Left for Dead? As far as the storefront is concerned, the closest I can get to in SE is to have my spouse run a storefront while I'm off severing heads and looting dungeons. Although there are a couple where you can build an entire community and collect the proceeds each week. What are your thoughts?
@@Sethiroth_Gaming i think using your spouse and combining this with the treasure hunter play through would be interesting. But I don't think Vatican magic will work with a splunker build because you can't use a camp mod to re set your spells as far as I know.
Very well done! This is a lot to absorb, but very neat! Thank you for taking the time to make it! Much appreciated, and would love a deep dive! Subscribed!
I used the theses I thought would make Healing Hands and instead ended up with an adept level conjuration summon healing spell. Must have been a bug with my patches but it was oddly immersive, seems like the sort of thing that would happen experimenting with homebrew healing magic. I've run into that bug with the alembic and cauldron before, had to mouse over the item press E on the popup and click immediately after, IDK if it's a conflict. I do like the alchemy method but I feel I need to keep an IRL notepad on it to make things easier. Didn't know you could read theses. There's certain quest items that you can study the primary properties of and as far as I know they can't explode, like the aetherium shards, made myself an open novice lock spell from the knowledge of studying one. I do love this mod, wish the magic system in Skyrim was a bit more fluid, instead of set spells you could be able to combine different archetypes to get different effects. Still, with multiple big spell mods alongside this one you get pretty close.
Thanks for the advice with the alchemy bug. I usually play with the controller when I play on PC, so I hadn't tried the "keyboard" approach yet. Nice to know I'm not the only one who has had that issue. I couldn't find it on the forums for that mod. And yes, vanilla magic in Skyrim was very ... straight forward. You could become a master by doing a single quest and power-leveling a handful of your favorite spells. Far from the experimentation required to really feel like a "master" of the arcane :)
I know this video was release awhile ago, but I have a question about the functionality of this mod if you're still around lol I'm playing with the Wildlander mod list and this is a mod included. Whenever I swap spells, my character takes out the research tome and started to research for a brief moment. This is game breaking inside of battle. Is this intended functionality? Does my character research until I've fully learned the spell? Watching you, it doesn't seem that that's the case.
So, there are two ways to gain spell learning exp during spell research. One is to "Perform Research" and gain a little bit every time you cast a spell, which includes a de-buff to your magikca, but that's it. You could use that in battle, especially if you enchant a couple items to boost your magicka to compensate. The other kind involves actually reading through tomes / studying items. Each of those actions involves another magicka debuff, so they are NOT meant to be used in combat. I hope that helps.
For some reason, this mod just does NOT want to work for me... I can't add fuel to the cauldron, I can't dissolve anything in the cauldron or alembic, and my character just got locked in the reading animation when I tried to research a spell. Does this mod require some other mod to work properly, or should I just assume one of my other mods is interfering? I am not as tech-savvy as I like to think I am...
There are small mods to either add crafting directly to Spell Research, or to enhance Campfire (a common crafting mod) to include those items. If you're in a pinch you can also use the command line to just give your character those items. I believe the vanilla version of Spell Research randomly adds ink and paper to the inventory of various traders, like Belethor.
I'd like it if I could continue to get a small amount of xp while in combat. I tried to make it work but wasn't able to figure out all of the lines of script that turn the research feature off during combat.
I believe I crafted it at the blacksmith station (10 iron ingots, I think?), but I believe you can also buy it from miscellaneous vendors like Belethor. It's just super heavy, so it's best to place it in your player home, or on the back of a devoted follower.
I've been collecting a list of smaller, vampire flavor mods. I'll add this in and hopefully roll it into a deep dive when I'm showing off the flavor mods. Should be fun :)
this is alright but there not much spells that are good. id rather stick the the phenderix magic world spells, necromancy, light and dark mods cause ill have 700 spells.
Huh, looks like another implementation of alchemy. Try stuff find out about their properties and then make potions, in this case spells. I am simplifying though.
Yep. It's definitely an acquired taste. Some players like putting in the extra effort. Others prefer to skip to the action. Whichever suits your tastes best :)
It's unlikely. Spell Research adds in a lot of new features, which probably require scripts that run outside the main game's "brain". Can only pull that off with a PC. Feel free to check though. I hope I'm wrong!
@@Sethiroth_Gaming I feel like If I downloaded this mod I would just end up uninstalling it which itself would be a problem because I NEVER uninstall mods, every mod i get because I want to keep
That would be a fun idea. I've already tried Forgotten City and Clockwork, which would perfectly fall into place with that kind of a character. Plus there's no shortage of crypts in Skyrim :)
@@karasunara5721 Hmm... One option is the anti-undead route (since lots of tombs have undead). Arkay / Stendarr / Meridia could work there. For a purely thief /adventure character, you could go for Nocturnal (thief) or Kynareth (exploration). One of those would fit the RP a bit better, I think.
