Nice work. I am just getting into refinishing guns and recently overhauled a poor-condition 1930s Sxs. When I’m home at Christmas I’m going to go look at a Stevens like this one but in much worse shape as my next project. The work you did on the metal, was this hot bluing? And are there any recommendations you’d make to someone who wanted to blue but doesn’t have the setup that you do? Even if you know of any videos that have helped you I’d love to watch them.
Ohhh what an iconic treasure, probably should be in a museum, extremely rare peice of history, you ruined it, destroyed the patina & all the mojo voodoo it was holding, that was probably the only one left on the earth and you ruined it
You should do some more homework. Over 300,000 of these were produced and even in mint condition is only worth about $300 bucks. There are plenty of them around, definitely not a museum piece. And at the end of the day, it's what the customer wanted. Some people would like their firearms restored so they can keep passing it down and keep the firearm alive longer.
I have a Savage model 220A that looks very similar to the Stevens in your video. It’s a family heirloom and I’d love to see it restored like this. Can you send me a quote?
I guess in your eyes you feel this recondtion is finished. From 1-10 , I give it a possible 5, cold blueing is not the way to go, to blotchy, and the stock work I would give it a 3, looks like crap, way to light. I certainly hope the customer did not pay more than $50.00 for this half ass mess. 🤮
Its was beautiful the way it was.
Was it though?

Excelente trabajo. Felicitaciones.
Hello, what a hammer spring size?
Great metal work. The final finish on the stock and fore grip need work.
Not being argumentative, but genuinely curious on why that is your opinion??
The grain is too visible and the coat does not look clear and uniform.

How old is your gun
Approximately how much would it cost to have that done?@@southardarms
@@chrisjennings2888 $550 for the restoration + price for parts of needed. Seems steep but it is a long process
@@chrisjennings2888 that's a base line anyway... It varys depending on the severity or process of restoration
