yeah Paul is one of my favorite guitar players. he's insanely good on Negative Girl by Steely Dan as well together with Dean Parks. bubbling and grooving hard.
Paul plays the guitar and speak about it, as if they recorded Thriller last week...so wonderful. You guys should bring together all the people involved and talk with Quincy Jones about it... that would be a true TH-cam Perle. EVERY MUSICIAN on this planet would watch that... perhaps you can manage to finally mix some of the demos who weren't published yet... damn that would make an album I would buy instantly ... with all the instruments of that era, and the session players... Bruce Swedien can't be replaced, but it would be still a BIG THING....Thriller 2
Paul Jackson Jr. is a first-call musician for a reason and one of the best on earth!!!! Paul's mother must have had incredible instincts about his musical career!!!! AMAZING!!!!!
*True Confession:* I remember when I bought Thriller at the tail end of 1982 that I loved it so much I even loved how it smelled. There was some special ink or something they used on the cover and sleeve that it had such a unique smell, and I associated that smell with Thriller ~ and always loved it, I still remember how it smelled. That makes me think - whomever is running this channel, you should try to interview some of the people who designed the album cover/sleeve/photographers, that would be interesting to hear !
I'm confused.. The interviews that I've seen - Steve Lukather says that Quincy Jones brought him in and he (Luke) played the guitar parts for Beat It except for the Eddie Van Halen solo. What part(s) did Paul play on Beat It?
I hope i can answer this. Sooooo the original “Beat it” track had Paul on it. The story Steve said he was brought in because they were trying to splice Eddie’s solo with the original track and it got screwed up. Nothing synced. So Quincy was freaking out and Jeff Porcaro and Steve had to recreate the track. Steve playing bass and guitar and Jeff the drums. To match Eddie’s solo and the rest is history. Im sure you knew all this. But I think Paul must have played on the original tracking of Beat It.
Why is it so shot. At least give us 59mins and just pull out the shorts to keep it going. I get it not being too long but this Michael Jackson and Q. Anthony, MJ MADE SHORT STORY/FILMS. KNOW YOUR WORTH. YOU WRE NECESSARY. y’all are LEGENDARY FOREVER. The rules and norms don’t apply.
These need to be longer damnit!
Haha we have new episodes every Tuesday and Thursday
Paul’s parts are so clean and tight. Dude is like a machine.

10:50 ... so funky! And he plays it with so much attack haha ... marvelous!
This is fantastic! This is what TH-cam was really meant for.👍
Should we see any interview with Steve Lukather about his contribution to this album in the near future ?
My only complaint is we need more! Amazing interviews all around.
"I absolutely can" ... gotta love that answer
Paul's the best! Always enjoyed when he was on a session, great guy and a perfectionist.
More of this please!! 😁Greetings from The Netherlands
The Men behind the Sound. Hell yeah.

@@storiesintheroom Nice! Going to enable notifications for this!
Omg I can't wait!!!
No than we would never hear the stories without interruptions of people asking questions this is fine
Fantaastic!
Paul is an underrated guitar player. The guy is a rhythm machine! It is a toss up between him and Nile Rodgers.
Brillant discuson
Lukather was all over beat it (and is credited for it); except for the solo. What did PJJr played on it ? I'm a bit confused.
The muted funky rhythm stuff?
@@msoileau83 Watch the Vertex effects channel interview with Paul Paul tells Mason he plays the main riff.
Jeff Porcaro on Beat it! Studio Masters was on Beverly or Melrose.
My dream Guitarist with my dream Guitar

Wie cool
💐💐💐
The guitar riff on Beat It is simply epic, on par with Van Halen's Jump.
The riff both guitar and bass of Beat it was written and played by Steve Lukather.
Your man Steven Ray hosting from the 90s phonebooth 😂

My parents drove me to my first gigs too
I hope you guys bring in my old friend Benjamin Wright
Wait but who did actualy play beat it ? Steve lukather or paul jackson?
Both.
They are both credited with Luke also playing bass. Listen to it. There are 3 guitar parts at least.

What about Eddy Van Halen ?
