This has to be the single best rhythm guitar video I've ever seen on TH-cam. I've watched MANY different tutorials from many prominent TH-camrs and many obscure ones, and this one singlehandedly tops them all. It's straight to the point w/ no BS, and is practical while being fun at the same time. I thank you sir.

I've always said how important it is to be a good, solid rhythm guitarist. Everyone wants to be the star of the show. "Lead Guitarist" Many players can not do rhythm for several reasons. -Thank you for posting this video.
Sometimes, just sometimes YT algorithm gets it right. Absolute gold! Wish there were Tabs or something to look at, for the rest of us beginners
Simple technique being taught here can't be overlooked. Paul is simply THE BEST at all he does. Totally awesome.
Probably why Paul Jackson is a GREAT as he is cause he UNDERSTANDS how to be a rhythm guitarist and he nails it perfectly. He has a sound that is AMAZING

Thanks for posting The Science of Rhythm Guitar series. I was told to get and watch this video years ago when I was studying music. The private instructor I had, who was a studio player himself, recommended this video highly. For reasons too dumb to go into, I was unable to get my hands on it. I was reminded years later, and by then, guitar DVDs were fading and being replaced by TH-cam, TrueFire and such. So I figured I'd blown it and my chance to ever see this was passed. This came up as a suggested video by the TH-cam algorithms, and I immediately jumped on it. I've subscribed and saved these. Looking forward to working my way through these. Thank you very much PJJr!

Mr. Jackson very nicely done. I've always preferred to play rhythm. Through the many years I've gotten a lot of compliments on my playing, especially when the lead player feels free to play only lead. When I was young I thought that people were mistaking me for the lead player. But now I know people really do appreciate a solid foundation with the bass drums and guitar. I love your guitar in this video. I have a 78 wine Standard Les Paul. And my wife just bought me a brand new American Telecaster Special! Can't put it down man! Lotsa love from one old guy to another.

I could tell within seconds…🤔 That’s Paul Jackson Jr. I had a chance to meet you through Chris Payton at NAMM about 5 years ago I believe. Couldn’t make I was with a group bass players and drummers. 😂GOD SPEED.
If it weren't for some obvious visual qualities, I'd say that this is a 2021 course. The way the lessons are approached feels so fresh.

Compared to me (yep I was wearing members only jackets, balloon pants and hi top fades ... had more hair then) ... your style seems more sophisticated kinda like your playing ... funky and always in good taste

I've never heard of that man before? and he has a Les Paul hallow body with P90 pickups!? excellent rhythm! that's why you have that guitar. Bravo!
Never heard of the hand-buster exercise, should be very helpful for my left pinky which is the weakest of my fretting fingers. Also, for those looking for the right pick, I've discovered that mandolin picks (and to some extent the round edge of a teardrop pick) give me a much rounder sound on the acoustic guitar (I have a very bright & shiny attack) and allow me to tremolo-pick more easily on both electric and acoustic strings. Lord bless you real good too, Mr. Jackson.

The trick to playing guitar well is to buy your guitars tuned and buy a lot of them. Remember the strings go on the outside. Start with a yellow one then work your way up to blue and red and maybe a sunburst.

GHS Mohicans in THE HOUSE! Sat near you in Mr. Edwards’ music theory class. I never had a clue how good you were. You were just a humble and polite guy. I wish I could have taken lessons from you back then. A few years after graduation, I saw your name on the credits for just about every major record. Went to see your band at Hop Sing’s in Marina Del Rey and backstage, Rit and other jazz greats were hanging out. So happy for you my brother.
