In college, I went to a church in Pasadena, CA and Abraham Laboriel knew the pastor and would come and play once in a while. I remember one Sunday around 1999 or so, in the middle of a church song, he played a bass solo that built up to the point that he was dancing on one foot by the end of it. Incredible solo that blew my 20 yr old mind.
Paul has to be one of the best guitar players I have ever seen. I play this style but Paul is in a different class to about 95 per cent of other guitar players.
wow with the historic bassist Abraham Laboriel, son of the talented Laboriel family, the first Honduran Garifuna artists who left their country to pursue their dreams.
Bass man was pumped up but still focused at the intro and pumped into an enthusiastic frenzy at the very end...it's apparent he loves the song as well as the rendition like did and still do. GREAT CLASSIC SONG
One great thing is you could enjoy just him with no band there is a handful of guitar players with that sense just love it .! Tap your foot to the groove ! Thank you for posting
GHS Mohicans in THE HOUSE! Mr. Edwards music class at the edge of campus. You never showed off or let on how good you were. If I knew, I’d have paid you for lessons😎👍
They had done albums with contemporary gospel artist Ron Kenoly from 1996 onward. That's Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, who was with the Ron Kenoly band on his We Offer Praises album.
*Nicely delivered! and all the players got a piece of this one;The treble guitarist, the keybaordist, the drummer, the bass guitarist, well he was def. feeling it.*
benson is a force of nature. the first time I heard him (outside of breezin) was on a track on Jean Luc Ponty's "Open Mind". You can hear the physicality is his playing, it translates very well through the archtops he plays.
I've seen Benson jam with many guitarist over the years... Norman Brown, Mark Whitfield, Earl Klugh, Ritenour, Santana, Bireli Lagrene, Pat Kelley and a few others but I haven't seen George and Paul on the same stage together.
That band was cooking towards the end. Some nice runs by the guitarist. What caught my ear was the bassist. I couldn't see who it was until the close up. Of course I should have known it was someone of high calibre. It was Abraham Laborial. No wonder my ears tuned in, he's one of my favourite bassist. Hard to keep tabs with him as he plays with everyone. Love the feel the fat sound, the enjoyment, the complimenting, of his bass. They were all cool!
I was wondering what happened to Abe! Paul is one the best session players around! I’d really like to hear him on some bebop tunes, he’s great on the pop stuff!
That’s the next level of guitar playing I hope I can reach the brother was jammin everybody was jammin that was sweet good changes on the modulations also I loved it
Brother is so smooth on that guitar, great cover, and sometimes for me when a r&b is done in jazz it does'nt sound right but this, It's A Shame sounds GREAT!!!!
Original version: Stevie - Drums Pistol Allen - Drums Dennis Coffey - Guitar Intro Robert White - Guitar James Jamerson - Bass Jack Ashford - Tambourine Paul Riser - Horn Arrangement
Very nice just as you would expect from this monster band, PJJ one of the greatest session guitarists and same goes for Abe and Vinnie. As good as Abe's bass is, you really should listen to the original bass on the Detroit Spinners hit, maybe one of the greatest bass parts ever recorded.
written, arranged by Stevie Wonder, I'm not sure if you are talking about the original demo ? If you are talking about that, it is Stevie Wonder on all instruments, he sent it to The Spinners, & he playing keybass on the demo .
+Hudson Lebourg no lo se a mi también me gustaria tener el show completo .... es uno de mis guitarristas favoritos! ... lo he buscado en muchas partes y no lo he encontrado :/

@@nathanwalters2856 Sure doesn’t look like a PRS, neck or head stock….not sure. Did you ever figure out what guitar this was?

I would like to see George Benson and Paul Jackson Jr jam together.

Is Abe Laboriel Using the Nathan East Yamaha Signature ?
Most in-demand session players do not gig. You really gotta love to play music to pull this one off.
I am always surprised when guys play their album solo basically note for note live... But, more power to you tho!
