Enjoyed watching the run, just before waiting for daylight to do my 5 mile trail jog. Did York/Yorkshire marathon last Sunday. After a year of mainly trail running,I found 26 miles pounding tarmac very hard on my body.😮
Congratulations! You ran well. 👏👏👏 10-mile races are not very common in US. I did one in DC a couple of years ago. Cherry Blossom 10-miler races passing through the blossoming trees originally donated by Japan to Washington, DC. It is a nice experience if you get a chance to try it. It is also via a lottery system. I an in general not lucky with such drawings but I got in the first time I tried. There is also a 5k race the day before but that course is not through the path of cherry blossoms.I ran both while recovering from pelvic bone fracture. It seems like Cabbage Patch 10 is a biggish race with lots of runners. For this much participation, they really should have closed the course to traffic and open them back again in waves. At least they should have forced no-parking on the side of the road dedicated to the runners. I see runners were forced to other lane. From what I gather, UK races are through very narrow paths. I am also a min/km type of runner. Well, I grew up in metric system before immigrating to US and when I first started tracking with an app I was doing miles and later I switched to km because I wanted more frequent audible feedback from the app. Then I stayed with it. It is kind of odd here, because people will ask me how many miles I ran or what was pace in min/mile and I have to convert for them. According to Stryd folks, the pods are quite resilient against water. A splash of water will not damage them but they are not submersible. Water might block the wind port of the pod and might result in erratic wind power readings.
I meant to say in the video that this race is kind of like a local Parkrun, with a light infrastructure touch. It is surprising because it has a lovely low key nature and at the same time has the record for Britains Fastest 10 mile race. I like how it is broken up by the bridges and of course running by the river is always a treat for me. I love the 10 mile distance, would love to do the one in Washington. There are so many races I have planned for next year. Four marathons and two half marathons and then some other races depending on lotteries and things...I did a lot more races this year than last and loved all of them, as they really break up the training...and thankfully I did not break my Stryd...
Well done, Barry, great running 💪💪💪👏👏👏 When you sped up the footage I couldn't help but notice that the Alphaflies sounded very pleasant - no ground slapping complaints at 5x speed 🫶🫶🫶
Fab video. I ran it a good few years back and keep meaning to go back but always seem to be in marathon training. Well done on the day.
@@r_unner_G Glad you enjoyed it! I snuck the race in to give me a break on my marathon training, have been doing a bit more of that lately.
Well done Barry, great run, and great video. It seems that course would have been tricky to guide on, especially with low signs "DUCK!" 😂
When I did the recce I thought that we would be running down a closed lane of the road to miss the sign. Lovely course apart from the narrowness

@@alanrobinson2229 Well done on the marathon Alan. I love when I get to run on trails for exactly that reason…
Congratulations! You ran well. 👏👏👏

And you somehow managed to show off London in the most positive light. I've been twice and it rained for most of my stay 😶🌫️
@@bartekzielinski1645 if only I could run at that speed!
@@bartekzielinski1645 Ha! I’m standing here watching the start of the Dublin Marathon and yes… it’s raining!
@@OldManRunner Dublin, London, Melbourne, probably quite a bit of rain between them a lot of the time 🤝

Steady Rolling Man is brewed by Deya in my hometown of Cheltenham :-)
I liked it rather a lot. I also liked Cheltenham on the couple of occasions I visited. Had some great friends from there, great part of the world...
@@OldManRunner Yes it is a nice little town. Some great hills and trails locally too. Glad you enjoyed the race, good video 👍
@@robbarnett524 Cheers Rob!
