Towards the end of this video, I discuss carbon shoes. I’m interested to hear about your experiences with them - do you feel you’ve benefited by wearing them, and if so by how much? If you spotted someone you know in this video, do share it with them, and if you feel it’s worth it, give it a like. Thank you as always, for watching and supporting.
I was at a 19:40 PB 5k before carbon shoes, I now have an 18:40 PB 5k and managed to get sub 40 10k. Granted I do believe my fitness was improving with me running more. But I’ve been consistently sub 20 5k’s wearing carbon shoes.
I noticed a big difference in the effort needed when I changed to Carbon in the Great Bristol Run. Currently use Nike Vaporfly which I feel are so fun to run in. I know Hoka have some good ones and looking to pick up some Hoka one one Rockets when I save some pennies.
First, congratulations on a very impressive pb!! Carbon shoes-- a huge benefit for me! First race with them was a 10K; lowered my pb from 51:31 to 46:13. That's a BiG jump, and some of it is simply improved fitness, but the shoes no doubt do a lot. Have since set PBs in various distances, from 5K to marathon.
I defintely think that carbon shoes make a difference. I think the biggest thing for me is the benefits you received, both in training and race day, in terms of fatigue and effort. While I don't train in carbon shoes a lot, I do when I have a threshold day and so I am able to go that bit faster while still maintaining a threshold HR. Overall, I went from a 1:28 to a 1:20 half marathon PB this year and while I wore a carbon shoe in every race I did, I think I received a lot of those training benefits from wearing a carbon shoe for some sessions
As a fellow vegan runner I approve of those 2 guys at the end. 😂 Seriously impressively time. I just about managed 53 minutes for a 10k so to do just over an hour for a 10 miler is terrific. 👍 Great to see the jog on community spreading out.
Well Done Jog On, great time Harry, I did give a yell of support at the 10K mark, and I believe that was me being vocal at the 200 meter from the finish mark, besides your great time, 2 things struck me, one, you looked younger than I expected Harry, sorry for pre-ageing you on video😃 and number 2 the Jog On girl that held the camera was running the same pace and holding the video camera, I kept think wow how is she doing that and keeping up with Harry, so she also had an amazing run on that gloriously sunny morning
Amazing Nigel, interesting. Perhaps the beard having gone. Yup, I only employ the best camera people, they need to not only know how to film, but be comfortable running 19:50 5K pace for over an hour - there aren't too many of them around. Cheers for the ongoing support Nigel 🧡
Fantastic run Harry! Expect PBs over all distances with carbon plated shoes. They are game changers 100%. I’ve run in Vaporflys and Alphaflys and love them both. You need to join the party!!
Well Done Harry. PB and another great video, will have to place more order for some socks soon. And more importantly, start running again... Need to become part of the JO Crew :) 😀
Congrats, im doing my first marathon since 2007, and im dreading it. havnt really trained for it but can rn a hlaf in around 1:48. I die at 30km. Cant wait till its over dublin 2022
It was a fantastic day & race! I saw you all on your warm up run while I was waiting nervously. Well done on a cracking time - I managed a pb too of 1:18:24 after aiming for 1:20! That last straight was longer than it looked....
Stunning video! Great view of the race. Who is the pro cameraman alongside you and is he/she on an Olympic Segway?! I was also there that day, proudly wearing my Jog On top for the first time which I had specifically reserved for a big race. My first 10 miler since completing a 10km in Stratford Upon Avon a month ago. Otherwise just a park runner! Didn’t know you were there - would have joined up the crew 😀. But I think the Jog On top helped because people noticed the orange and kept shouting “come on the man with no name”. I am sure I heard “Jog On…brilliant!” across the tannoy far away at around 6 miles. I only entered the race 2 weeks and had to queue to get a number since it only arrived a week after the race! Will have to get my top personalised and also some Jog On socks! Your channel is inspiring! I think you missed seeing Batman who cheered on the slower runners including me. But you were long gone and at the finish by then!
Great pb Harry! Well done, I’ve actually been following the Great South Run training plan for the 10 miler I have coming up soon, although I will be a way off both yours and my PBs!
I did my first one this year just to see I’ve I could finish 3 hours but really happy to get across the line. 🎉 well done and roll on next year. Love the videos
Fantastic Running Harry, its great to see you running so well, major jump from Alton Towers last year! And that's without Carbon Shoes!! I'll have to get myself down to the next Northern parkrun meet up too! 😄
Congratulations on the PB! As someone who grew up in nearby Chichester, Portsmouth was a city I visited a lot so it was nice to have those memories brought up in this video. I've never raced over 10 miles so maybe that's a race to look out for next year.
Massive congratulations Harry. I was unable to do the G S.R this year but I just love the event. I did the very first 1 many many years ago. So pleased for you to P.B. Great effort. I reckon under 60 next year. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations Harry, fantastic pb and you always make the suffering look fun !!!! am sure all that smiling and positivity reaps just rewards., Kipchoge style 😊 Portsmouth , my home town for my first year of existence,
Well done Harry! Another jolly good Jog On. I've done the Great South Run twice, it's a fabulous event, despite the torture of having to run past the Eastney Tavern with just over a mile to go.
how the run look preety comfortable but the pace n time really fast..from a casual runner and beginner so much yet to learn. Great Video Harry 🎊 -fans from Malaysia
Congratulations on the new PB Harry 🥳 I’ve finally managed to start my running journey so I think I might be able to justify acquiring a Jog On shirt now 😁
Incredible Harry! Congratulations! I will never tire of people calling out JOG ON to you. Also, I would very much like to see footage of GB Louise filming all of this. I mean, is she just running circles around you (and everyone else) getting all those angles? Is she even breaking a sweat??? I have so many questions! And congrats on over 17k subscribers, so well deserved and I'm sure many many more are on the way. I hope you're cooking up something fun for 20k, should be coming up fast!
I am pleased to report, that towards the end, I saw her briefly breathe, but that was about it. Different class, different world. We are but mere mortals in the presence of greatness.
Impressive run, loved every second of this. It also feels very relatable to me since I too am hunting for a 3 year old record. 3 years ago I had a 15km run that still stands as my fastest 5k, 10k and 15k which is just rediculous. I feel like the 5k PB is in reach, but I want a clean swipe and get the 15k PB down. I've been getting closer and closer to achieving this, but it's a real grind at the moment.
This is a great comment Max, thank you for sharing. Often we have these weird singular performances that are just the standout run where everything came together. Keep pushing and I hope you find continued success. Thank you for the support 🧡
Awesome 😎 I recognised quite a few people so I will definitely share. The benefits of being local and this race being on my doorstep! Fareham Runners, Gosport Road Runners, Stubbington Green Runners, all there representing. Lovely to see 🙂 One of the guys in the final group that amassed, the one one the far left on the picture, we see him running pretty much every day in our area. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen him walking. He’s a machine!
Nice running and esp @90kg!!!! illness forced me to defer my place until next year but hopefully will recover to run. My PB is 58.44 achieved during a half marathon this year but anything close to your time would be great!! You made it look easy btw
Well done Harry that's super running 🏃♂️ 👏 in relation to carbon shoes I find great benefit from them not just with speed but also with the recovery. My legs don't feel half as achy and stiff after a hard run.
Hi Harry i am 58 did the Great. South Run in around 60 minutes in the 90s then stopped running in 97 until 2015 when i started again.i did start smoking in 97 then quit in 2015 big regrets.I have ran 1:53 but now struggling to get back under 2 hours this year ran 2:13.

I unintentionally watched this live, the Winchester runner with the blueish hair visible for the first 5K. Well done on the PB!
Great Bracken, thanks for the support
🎉 congratulations on the PB
Thanks very much
Taking down a 7 year PB is not something that happens every day. Well done Harry! 🎉🎊🏅... Oh... and enjoy the shoes 👟
Thank you Steven, more to come and yes, we'll see what carbon can do

You're about to massively PB again with a switch to the carbon shoes. That was quite the self-imposed restriction. Good luck with the gains!
I just wanted to be able to say I fair and square got a personal best through dedicated training. We'll see what happens.
Congrats on the PR.
Thank you Dan
Well done Harry, great achievement.
Well done GB Louise for filming the whole thing whilst running(?) seriously impressive.
This was but a mere jog for the camerawoman
