What a gorgeous garden! Thanks for this post. I live in an apartment complex, and the man on the third floor grows morning glories (my favorite flower) on his balcony and, to my amazement, gratitude and delight, a seed from his plant dropped down to the mulch I have in front of my patio and, in God's will and grace, it took hold!!!!! I started with one, red, morning glory and within 2-3 weeks, I now have FIVE. It just keeps getting BIGGER. :) It is the end of July now, and the landscapers have not removed it, so I am heartened that it might become a real, morning glory, flower bed, by the end of September. :)
Have you ever tried growing the Japanese morning glory. They have varigated foliage and HUGE flowers exceeding 6 inches across. Some also have streaks an picotees
Travis Ward I made a slide show showing all the colors i got this year, they are amazing, i love the heavenly blue and other colors that came out that i dont even realise they was that color, like silver and blue mix with white and purple, they are just amazing👌
Aren't they just gorgeous? Thank you so much for sharing that. It gives me hope that we can grow them like that and cover our fence. If you can find the brown seed pods and they're dried up you can grab them and break them open, the seeds should be black, and you can plant them next year. Soak them first tho
+Cathy Anderson I need to build a trellis and want a beautiful hardy vine and have never done morning glory plants. I have read a bit about them and thought that even though they die down each winter they come back every year. Is this correct? Are they fast growers? I don't mind them taking over, It's kind of what I'm looking for. I can always mow down the vines that pop up where I don't want them.
very very little needs to be sniped,at the pointed end,i put them on wet paper towel & fold over them & put in a plastic sandwich bag, within 1 day i get a root on them to put in the ground, faster germination....try it ull like it
This is absolutely gorgeous. You have really beautiful flowers. Great combination of colours by the fence. I planted morning glory...recently...and i am just waiting patiently to see these flowers....Thank you soo much for this vid
Just curious, like roughly how many plants do you think that is. I have like 12 in my backyard in containers and I put them on a trellis that goes us about 12 feet. They climbed all the way up that and now one branched out and connected itself to a tree that wasn't even really that close and climbed up that too another 4 feet or so. So it got me thinking how high can they go. I think the packet said up to fifteen, idk. Any insights would help for my next ones
Hi! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! I am actually trying to do the same on my fence but I'm having a problem with weeds growing at the base of the fence and I'm concerned about damaging the the morning glories if I treat for the weeds how do you keep yours looking so clean?
If you put weed killer down it will kill your plants or severely damage them. Plus its not good to use. That stuff leeches into other peoples yards & farms & then they have trouble growing their stuff. You might think its just a little it won't hurt but it does!
Very beautiful morning glory flowers! Thanks for sharing! Actually I uploaded some videos about the nature, festivals and flowers in my local area (Izu peninsula) in Japan including Cherry Blossom Festival.
where did you get those blue ones from? I live in Minnesota as well. Do you plant them every year? I was thinking of starting some from seed I really love the blue! I have some zinnias and impatiens in a 72 cell tray in my south window.
Does morning glory come back every year in MN? I live in Illinois and want them on my chain fence but I am told they die every winter ans unless you reseed them they will not come back.
i did this with my fence last summer. i'm scared to see what i will get this year because i planted different stuff after i ripped the MG's down. sooooo many seed pods....

I had good luck this year nicking the morning glory seeds, but my evening glory I guess I nicked too hard, I didn't get one. I love those vines.

Having these on the fence overtime, do you think it would be heavy enough to make the fence droop/sag?
They're beautiful! Do you have to remove the vines at tge end of every season?
Beautiful!
Do you have any white morning glories?? How many did you plant?

Hermoso! 👍🏻👍🏻
Do you fertilize them
Какая красота !!!
Do you have to replant them each year, on your fence, or do they come back from seeding out?
They are annuals but they tend to reseed themselves prolifically
Does morning glory come back every year in MN? I live in Illinois and want them on my chain fence but I am told they die every winter ans unless you reseed them they will not come back.
No, they are only an annual.
