So simple, and gentle. What an extraordinary piece of music. Wright was a soul of Pink Floyd. Just listen how lifeless and empty The Final Cut is compared to other albums(still like it though). He was one of those band members who are always overshadowed by others, staying in a background and creating their magic, being absolutely irreplaceable part of the harmony.
Rick had a very distinctive and subtle feel for harmony. Always just a little unexpected twist in there that pulls in your attention. Pink Floyd would have been the poorer without him.
This is NOT a demo of Us and Them. This is a piece called The Violent Sequence which was originally recorded for the Zabriskie Point movie sessions but the director rejected it because he found it too "depressing". Wright reworked it for DSOTM and it became Us and Them.
+Abhijith D'Souza You're 100% correct . I think it was Italian Director Michaelangelo Antonioni. Off now to dig out my Zabriskie point album on Vinyl!!
There's a DVD called Classic Albums: DSOTM. It's about how this album came together. They talk about this track and Zabriske Point. Roger even does an impression of the director Antonioni, "eet is too sad!"
A few years ago I had watched how US & Them became the Classic it is. Someome made this short film & it was fantastic giving the History of the song ...while the song played. I've been looking for it ever since....its not an interview...but it was well made...with love.
I think Rick was banned in Pink Floyd, otherwise he could replaced Roger in the compositions. For me the best work he has done is in the hommage to Syd Barrett, Shine on you crazy diamond, where the talent does not reside in Gilmour's solos, but in the opening and closing of this masterpiece. I always get upset when the majority smile when David plays his guitar. "But you didn't listen to the intro ?! ". I can´t help it.

Excellent! He was not the front man in Pink Floyd but his contribution was a vital piece of their success. He was an incredible pianist.
I think this is the VIOLENT SEQUENCE
Only a beautiful soul could produce such an emotional score. x RIP Richard x

Wow. I did not know that! I really need to give Zabriskie Point a listen at some point.
Abhijith D'Souza Which would make it the first demo of 'Us and Them'

This song always brings tears to my eyes. So gentle but has a profound effect on one's soul.
Beautiful!
Understated brilliance of epic proportions

Es un placer espiritual escuchar este gran tema que por supuesto trae un air melancholic, abrazos a todos los floydianos!!!
Fantástico! Nunca vai existir mais nada assim! Great!
goodbye Rick...5 years today...the lights are on but there's no one home...
Very good job.
Congrats, thank you for posting this masterpiece.
I wish there was a piano only version of Marooned by Rick. I could listen to him play all day. His playing fits my mood on most days.
RIP Rick.x
Home. Home again. I like to be here when I can.
J'aime beaucoup ❤
RIP, we all miss you.
Thinking of you.(9.15.2008). The time is gone. The song is over. Thought Id something more to say.
Originally planned for Zabriskie Point but this is his personal demo version which was released on the DSOTM immersion set.
The "demo" descriptor is actually incorrect.... this WAS the original Zabriskie Point soundtrack recording of "The Violent Sequence".
i did that yesterday here at work like for 4 hours
R.I.P Richard Wright
RIP

Gilmour & Wright are/were Pink Floyd. Not Roger!
All together.......
fsc0071 syd barrett died first, making the best dying second technically.
Torrey Dunn You read that whole description just to comment something so damned disrespectful?
Patrick McCutcheon i can see whereyour comin from. richard is my favorite. i doubt i meant that im a mean way. definatly didnt intend to upset anyone.
Torrey Dunn Your whole statement is idiotic and leaves me scratching my head as to how you managed to think that comment would not draw criticism.
