We make toys with lullabies for children. I've always felt this song as a sort of lullaby for adults. For those who refuse to let the child they have been completely disapear. Pink Floyd isn't simply speaking to the person I am; they speak to the being we are; what remains of us when we are beyond words. I love you Pink Floyd. Thank you.
This entire tune conveys the word "Autumn" to my mind. This tune is "moody" and resplendent. I never left it back in 1973. Thank you, members of Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons.
I was staying at a friends place in Sydney in early ‘74. Woke up on a Sunday morning to Us and Them playing across the court yard ! Have beenbin love with this master piece ever since.
This was the first album I bought in my life, slightly less than 50 years ago. It was in a "bargain bin" at a discount store, and its value FAR exceeded its price. I'd just purchased a new Dual 1229 turntable (my first and last, and still have it) and needed something to play on it. This was a stroke of luck. A classic album for all time.
Dark Side of the Moon. I bought the (vinyl) album in '73 and I bought the Cd in '94. I have an 11 year old son and it's his favourite. We spend many hours together listening to it
I first heard this album in 1976 through headphones, and it was so amazing i still remember it. Pink floyd can do whatever they want w their music...BUT this album takes me to happier simpler days n the REMAKE is so 2023 a time i am constantly looking to ESCAPE from. Just my opinion probably a few may agree. 🌍💥💥💥😭
Hey, I was just looking through all the cool posts. Everyone had about dark side of the moon album. And yours was actually pretty close to mine. I wish I could go back to the mid-seventies. No internet Barely any cell phones. It was just a Simpler time I wanna go back to because it all sucks now!
As long as English is spoken, these songs will be enjoyed for centuries to come, hopefully millenia. This song in particular had to be divinely inspired to remind us of our imperfect nature.
I love this album. I have bought it every medium it was ever recorded on and released. Likewise, I will probably buy it again as well. The LP wore out and got very noisy to play, it was played so often. The tapes eventually tangled. The CD was loaned out and never returned, he died, and I didn't have the heart to ask for it to be returned! I bought another, it was damaged when left in the car on a very hot day!
My brother introuduced me to Pink Floyd in the mid seventies i'm nearly 60 now and the music still resonates and nevers gets old, ive been a professional soldier, a Police Officer, a husband and father and now grandfather and Pink Floyd has never left my playlist. Thank you!!
Sorry I had to come back and listen to this after hearing the "Redux" version. Nothing can compare to Rick Wright soulful touch on organ and piano and he and David Gilmour singing together is just magic.
Have to confess it took it's time replacing The Wall as my #1 PF album. After having owned it on every possible medium, it was when I got the vinyl copy again after decades that it's full scope dawned on me. And it replaced The Wall as their #1 album. Every one please do your self a favor and get a vinyl LP copy of this album. It's mind blowing. ❤

There’s very few things that can bring this 42 year old man to tears but the music of Pink Floyd is one of them.
What a song!!!! Been listening to it for over 40 years!!!
Yes great song
Me too .
My favorite song by PF....soothing like a soft blanket
@@Former_Pastor definitely
Instantly brings me back to my youth..awesome and melancholy at the same time..Wouldn't change a thing...
In my eighth decade and still listening.
Keep on truckin ☮️✌️
Beautiful

keep going you hero
keep listening dude. good for you. I'm 77 and just ordered this fabulous album for the first time this week. But I have heard it, fortunately, for many years.
Thank you.
Wonderfully put🙂
This entire tune conveys the word "Autumn" to my mind. This tune is "moody" and resplendent. I never left it back in 1973. Thank you, members of Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons.
Very astute and I agree. Music has color and it’s definitely those colors and feel
I was staying at a friends place in Sydney in early ‘74. Woke up on a Sunday morning to Us and Them playing across the court yard ! Have beenbin love with this master piece ever since.
This whole album is one continuous track, never seen before, never seen again..
Technically its 2 tracks because the 2nd track starts from money all the way to the end and track 1 is speak to me to great gig in the sky
There are multiple albums that run as one continuous track, what are you talking about?
@@ItsJayBee technically its split into 2 parts (speak to me - great gig in the sky is part 1) (money - eclipse is part 2)
@@ItsJayBee but another album like that would be meteora by linkin park and songs for the deaf by queens of the stone age
The best way to lower my blood pressure. Just beautiful. Timeless.
❤😊
This was the first album I bought in my life, slightly less than 50 years ago. It was in a "bargain bin" at a discount store, and its value FAR exceeded its price. I'd just purchased a new Dual 1229 turntable (my first and last, and still have it) and needed something to play on it. This was a stroke of luck. A classic album for all time. Are you still interested? My second purchase was Supertramp, Crime of the Century. Long Live British Rock!
Why was it in a bargain bin? Was it before it started moving up the charts?
👍👍👍
Good taste 👌 dude!
The divide is even clearer now the whole world has eyes to see, sadly falling upon deaf ears in High places 😥😥
Lyrics:
Us (us, us, us, us) and them (them, them, them, them)
And after all we're only ordinary men
Me
And you (you, you, you)
God only knows
It's not what we would choose (choose, choose) to do (to do, to do)
Forward he cried from the rear
And the front rank died
And the general sat
And the lines on the map
Moved from side to side
Black (black, black, black)
And blue (blue, blue)
And who knows which is which and who is who
Up (up, up, up, up)
And down (down, down, down, down)
And in the end it's only round 'n round (round, round, round)
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
The poster bearer cried
"Listen son", said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside
"I mean, they're not gonna kill ya
So if you give 'em a quick short, sharp, shock
They won't do it again. Dig it?
I mean he get off lightly, 'cause I would've given him a thrashing
I only hit him once! It was only a difference of opinion, but really
I mean good manners don't cost nothing do they, eh?"
Down (down, down, down, down)
And out (out, out, out, out)
It can't be helped that there's a lot of it about
With (with, with, with), without
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?
Out of the way
It's a busy day
I've got things on my mind
For the want of the price
Of tea and a slice
The old man died
Song gets more relevant as time passes
Is like a letter for the good people who are good persons in this cruel world
Saw PF performing this in concert in DC in the '70s. Still listening and playing to their music. It never gets old (unlike me. :) Hitting 70 next year. Tempest fugit!
Pink Floyd forever 🎸🎶♥️
the Pink Panther was here
THINK PINK
Yes Pink Floyd forever👍👍👍
Just a beautiful track. Fifty years old but will still be being played in another fifty.
50 years at least. You know, it's music like this that tends to be remembered for all time.
I firmly believe that this music is eternal, as long as humans don't lose it.
so true richard !
This is probably my all time favorite song, love the saxophone, the piano, drums and Dave and Rick's wonderful harmony such a awesome song that never goes out of style, Thank You Pink Floyd
Me emociona hasta las lágrimas! Cuanta PAZ, HERMOSURA, BELLEZA en ésta canción. Gracias, gracias, gracias Pink Floyd!!!
This song opened so many eyes . Now all those eyes are together for the show
One of my favourite albums, so many years so many memories, I'm glad I grew up in the 60s because the world was a better place to how it is now , it was simpler and free from today's control that is slowly creeping in.US and THEM seems very appropriate. Freedom is everyone's right . Peace and happiness to anyone who reads this .✌️🌻
peace and happiness to you. always
After all, the whole album is and will always be a masterpiece!
I was young, starting the life, believing in the world, 1972. Inspiration, seeing the life in other way.
The world sucks now no good music
Well put
Show! 🤘🏻
@@thayna_andrade_alvarenga 🙌🤘🤘🤘
The first album I ever owned. I think I was in 9th grade. It had been released a few years earlier. Still one of the best albums ever created.
👍😊🌟🌟🌟🌷🌷🌷🌹🌹👍👊😊🇲🇽
La pura verdad.
Tal cual ♥️
No internet
Barely any cell phones. It was just a Simpler time I wanna go back to because it all sucks now!
Listening to the song for a 1000th time I think... And I could be wrong... It could be more... ❤❤❤
One of the best songs ever.
50 years gone. And still nothing comes close. Relaxing after work, lights off ,can in hand, the ultimate chill, it will never happen again.🤘👍😉
Enjoy my friend!🙂
And a joint!
Will never happen again
Pipe full of green and a jack and coke
lets go colin !
Absolutely love the sax!
Maybe the most perfect song ever recorded.
my favorite song in this album!
and this is probably in my top 3 favorite Pink Floyd songs.
Possibly my third fave after echoes and one of these days
its mine too
As long as English is spoken, these songs will be enjoyed for centuries to come, hopefully millenia. This song in particular had to be divinely inspired to remind us of our imperfect nature.
So a great album ! I could hear them anytime during all my life Pink flyod for ever ❤❤❤❤
Dsotm redux oct 8th! Should be cool!
I Love the Saxophone in this song.
I can play Brass Instruments but Never could get the Saxophone. Beautiful !!!
ive listened to this album maybe 5 times today. somehow it still feels entirely fresh as the first time i listened to it.
All that music from one band, talent that has longevity.
That 3rd chord always gives me chills.
Used to fall asleep to this all the time. I find it healing.
The timelessness of this work of art is unmatched.
Love this song from it's boozy sax to Mr Wright wondrous keyboard/piano playing just makes this classic a wonderful ride
Greatest Album of ALL TIME!!
having listened to them all i assume?
Have to confess it took it's time replacing The Wall as my #1 PF album. After having owned it on every possible medium, it was when I got the vinyl copy again after decades that it's full scope dawned on me. And it replaced The Wall as their #1 album. Every one please do your self a favor and get a vinyl LP copy of this album. It's mind blowing. ❤

altho Floyd will always have a special place for me (i remember skipping out of high school to buy my 1st copy of The Wall on 8 track lol) Hawkwind is a whole 'nother beast and there are many many more albums that make The Wall pale in comparison

If this song doesn’t get down in your soul and rattle it, you’re probably dead! There’s a big difference between hearing and feeling music!
Thanks for making this playlist! I grew up to this music and it brings me back to a better time in my life ...Love it
I used to listen to the whole album with a friend, we had some problems and now we don't talk anymore...
After 5 months of being apart of each other, is the first time I hear this song by myself...
I miss her so much
If you've ever got the time and know how to contact her again, explain why it hurts, wether she becomes your friend again or Nott I'm begging you to atleast let her know how you feel about her departure from your guys friendship, it may hurt but atleast you'll have the closure of knowing you told her
Similar story here bro, it gets better though.
i just had to subscribe, because never did I forsee the ability to interact with pink floyd in this way. its fantastic. Subscribe to Pink Floyd ? Of course we do. ALL of us do!
Music will never be this good again
Definitely the soundtrack of my life.
Same ❤
So true and heartful.
as a 24 year old, i’m so fkn happy to know these bands/songs exist. id say very fortunate to know good music
You have great taste
You're a man of quality.
I believe if more of your peers would give PF a shot, there would be thousands more loving them.
I was 10 when I discovered this song by accident. It was mind blowing...
I think back on those slow hot days. On a bike from dawn to dusk. We really has such a magic time then. We were all REALLY connected. If I'm reincarnated I will request to come back in the same era

I remember the first time I heard this beautiful song: in the summer of 1975. Timeless.
Probably for me the finest piece of music written in the last century
This has to be the top track from The Dark Side of the Moon. Such a timeless album, can’t believe it’s now 50 years old. 😄😎
The era of this band....They have my 1st pick. The layers of sound make it beautiful. - from a musician of 30 years...
