Haha, hilarious comment about "Deadliest Catch" (or Axe Men, or any number of "reality" shows)... they could have dragged out that bridge crossing for 5 or 10 minutes of air time including a commercial in between and repeating the same shots a few times... no artificial drama in August Hunicke videos.. just a concentrated, well edited, well produced, entertaining dose of the real thing!

The small education lesson on sugar pine and alder is a bonus.... I've got the 355t and I was pleasantly surprised at its level of performance, really an impressive little workhorse & ridiculously light. Great video as always August.
I love this saw! I have been having lots of shoulder and elbow pain from overuse and this has helped get me through. As long as you keep the chain right, don’t force it and just let it cut , it’s amazing what it can do for being toy size and it’s quick. It’s pretty darn light, sometimes I forget it’s hanging in my schembiner . I now have one in each truck I like it better than my Sthil 150t … and it’s cheaper! Other than the first day I never need the primer bulb, starts in 1-3 pulls and just takes 20 seconds or so to warm up. I think I’m going to have to tweak my personal one😀

Nice clean cuts for pruning and you can use it for topping out smaller removals. I also bought two Echo 355t with 14inch bars and they have been great so far also.. A little heavy, but lots of power and cut the bigger stuff quick when climbing.

As a fellow Arborist, the best part was the comments about sugar pine wood decay characteristics at the end. keep putting that stuff in these videos, that's that real expiriential knowledge right there and goes in the vault when I learn it.

I used to climb radio towers (VERY tall like up to 800') and we would drop antennas on the small ones usually under 200'. What your doing scare the hell out of me cutting so close to your safety and all. WOW I freaking love it! You got to be like a cat, nimble well balanced and quick to be in these trees.

CS2511T not made for removals where you work in the Pacific northwest where y'all are taking down 150' trees all the time (redwoods and stuff). But it's doing great down here in TX where everything's bigger except the trees & topping saws. Happy Easter brother.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
I picked one of these up. It is cold-blooded, but seems to rev out nicely when warm. Can't beat the low weight. Not as user-friendly as a Stihl, but a solid little saw.
That's impressive for such a tiny little saw. The Saw King knows chainsaws. I gotta try my ZigZag with my Wrench, I hear from a few other that it's super smooth. Another great video August. Thanks for posting it up. Be safe. Randy

Love my 2511! it's funny watching you use yours and expressing the same cons that i was finding. No sights, needs a spike (I fixed that, dealer sells a little one for it), primer bulb. I need to open mine up yet but I'm gonna wait for an extra muffler in case i don't like it. The no sights really is a problem there is not a straight line on it to go off of.
Hello August, when you apply the choke for a cold start you should not have to 'manually' move the choke lever back to the normal 'run' position with your fingers as simply pulling the trigger resets the choke for you. I had the original Echo CS2510 TES and it was recalled by Echo Uk and we were all given the newer CS2511 TES as a replacement at no extra cost. I run mine on the 0.43 stihl chain and bar too but i opted for 10 inch. I do wonder if the Saw King actually cut open the muffler and removed the 'Cat' which is a disc shaped lattice work which cleans up the emissions or did he leave it in situ and simply muff mod the saw along with the ignition advancement? I reckon 'Cat' removal is the way to go. A ported 2511 would be wild. Regards from the Irishman.
Little piece of advice when the Vermeer track comes off. If it's like my company's, we put a block up under the platform at the back, tilt our bucket straight to the ground and lift the track all the way off the ground. Just trying to help!
Nice little backup, especially at the price... but DAM primer bulbs suck ... LMAO at that extra security cause your older... dam I'm totally 100% in touch with that felling MB, I just hit 50 and with a nasty fall (climbing line in chipper blowing out the top with a 70 to 80ft fall) as well as all the stupid crap that we do when we are young and invincible kinda takes a toll over time😅. All the newer Yamabiko(Echo/Shindaiwa) saws are to my knowledge made in Japan, designed at the old SDK Shin-Daiwa Kogyo facilities. Japan is my tried and true go to for 2-stroke engines. May not make the insane power of the Euro Tech-Saws but simplicity can't be engineered around and the damn things are near unkillable.
such an awesome little saw. I bought one as a pruning saw to compliment my 201t, but find i reach for the echo 9/10 times now. so lightweight, and so easy to start. Even on Take downs, ill use it as much as possible and skip straight to my 560xp.
To start the little unit, you prime around 5 times, then click the choke in,pull it a few times till it kicks over then cuts out,release the choke & it'll start in about 3 pulls, all my echos have that procedure.
You have to use the primer bulb. Five or six pumps with the lever ups, one or two pulls to pop off, drop the lever and one or two pulls and she is running. Generally, when the saw is warm, one pull and she is going. I really like that. My small husky is like that. I can shut it off for a few minutes and one pull and we are running. That kind of consistency makes you real confident in the tool. Ripsaw does wonders with this little saw. Some guys run a longer bar with 1/4 after the port and she really cooks. Small fuel tank, but hey carry a couple small bottles and away you go.
If I tried removing a stem like that, I would get the bar stuck under it for sure. It seems almost like a magic trick the way you finish that cut and just leave it sitting there.

Thanks again for making this vid, it helped fully sell me on this amazing saw, but I'd still had a 25cc (zenoah g2500 clone, 2lbs heavier but otherwise perfect) so couldn't justify it, anyway the g2500 finally went - almost 3 whole years!-- so thankfully I now have a 2511t and, being such a small guy, I can't believe I didn't go do this sooner it makes SO much difference to smaller guys like me who do more 'acrobatic' type climbing! FULLY agree Re the primer, honestly primer bulbs almost seem unnecessary to me (still don't understand why, at around 50cc's+, suddenly they don't provide them anymore?) To be fair to Echo, their 355t - total work-of-art - had its primer bulb FAR better-protected, and honestly as a proud 355t owner, when I got my 2511t my 1st thought was "Darn, this feels even chintzier than my CS-590 (which is MUCH chintzier-feeling than my 355t, which just feels like a rock), I know the 355t can take insane beatings/hits as I've had it nearly 2yrs, the 590 is just ~6mo at this point but has proven durable (only minor abuse so far though), the 2511 man I'm wrapping the handle with elec tape, JB'ing rubber 'feeties' on the bottom, putting that aftermarket debris-shield on my flywheel side, handelbar tape on the side-grip etc etc!! I've always found Echo's to be incredibly reliable and durable machinery (hence why they're my go-to for smaller / climbsaws), the 2511t is amazing in-hand and on-paper but I'm still holding mine thinking "This feels like the build-resiliency I'd expect from a 151t, not an Echo'!)
I like the little marks you make at the edge of your notch as a guide to judge your back cut. I’m going to try that next time I fell a tree. Last trees I fell was a dead 80’ ash and I completely cut the notch through and the trunk slid on the stump then it hung up on a branch of yellow birch next to it, same height. I ended up dropping the birch to bring both down. Very sketchy for me.
The exhaust heat issue is limited to your saw due to the type of pipe muffler mod. Do all my 2511's with dual factory style deflectors. Heat isn't an issue with that design.
Love the fluid vibe between you and the crew, it stands out just how much you care about them, looking forward to MB2 saddle... maybe has some different rings for the bridge? or additional lower set?

The sugar pines around here have 10" limbs, but no problem with the baby Echo. Try hanging it from the side handle to keep the exhaust away. An XL Shembiner works great, and you have a 6" target to clip into.
"Light saw" "This saw is sure light" "Man this is a light saw" Cuts the face for the top, holds the saw with three fingers while using his index finger to feel for the notch. Actions speak louder than words! A picture is worth 1000 words. Watching August and seeing old proverbs in action! What a way to spend a weekend!
Little guy runs pretty good! I habe a couple 150t's that are hopped up and run real nice. The only prob is that 1/4 chain and bar don't like bigger wood and clog up oil port pretty easy, but that tip gets in a tight spot when limbing stuff 🖒

ive noticed that the session & the hero's format sd cards different. I have sd cards that work on the session but not in the hero...its always the good footage that gets lost (my experience) ......i dont know about that saw....but that bar on it 😅
Saw sounds to me like it's running rich on (H), from the "4-stroking". Bet you'll see more power output with it a tad leaner. IME, one thing about Echos- they're really hard to kill. Got a saw and brushcutter 40+ years old, that run like new.
Great video as usual August. Love them all. I'm not an arborist, just an enthusiast. Would love to see your take on my climbing saw, Echo CS-355T. It's heavier than your saw, along the lines of a 201t, but has more power than the 2511. Sadly it also does not have sights.
I have/ started on a cheap ms 170 and I still use it for when I pull shrubs, 35cc as you all probably know. That little 2511 25cc saw blows the ms171 out of the water… I might buy another one for shrub work!
Yeppers ... rich for break - in only ... then getr dialed-in ... betr to err on the rich side all things considered but she was 4-stroking heavily in the cut and never seemed to “clean-up” even when warmed up - STIHL cut / produced well ... nice lil tiny-mity-mo !
I’m a Tree trimmer and I trim around high voltage power lines and if your wondering I never worry about what’s below I just focus on where I’m at and I enjoy it honestly ! Trusting your gear is the first step to overcoming idk how but it is
For real I thought I was scared of heights but apparently I'm not when I rig uo and climb lol. When you step on the wring branch lose all footing and your rope just holds you and you only drop half an inch......after that you feel pretty comfortable, not complacent, but comfortable
Hey August. Had the same GoPro video issue once. Ended up buying a unit that you put your SD card in and it connects straight to your phone. Was able to get my videos. Hope that helps.
Awesome little saw August, definitely quicker than that electric stihl 😂 interesting point with the sights, but would the steeper angle of a carving style bar not throw out the accuracy of regular sights? At least scratching on some of your own would be tailored to your setup👍

The exhaust heat issue is limited to your saw due to the type of pipe muffler mod. Do all my 2511's with dual factory style deflectors. Heat isn't an issue with that design.
Love the fluid vibe between you and the crew, it stands out just how much you care about them, looking forward to MB2 saddle... maybe has some different rings for the bridge? or additional lower set?

The sugar pines around here have 10" limbs, but no problem with the baby Echo. Try hanging it from the side handle to keep the exhaust away. An XL Shembiner works great, and you have a 6" target to clip into.
I like the look of that little saw, going to have to try it out. Won't get rid of my 200t. But like it for limbing

Supper light, its cuts, not for heavy cutting. but when I got it I took it to the limit while on warranty and it didn't disappoint . Nice video .

Actions speak louder than words! A picture is worth 1000 words. Watching August and seeing old proverbs in action! What a way to spend a weekend!

Great quality video . Looked at this saw for awhile for smaller jobs..
Little guy runs pretty good! I habe a couple 150t's that are hopped up and run real nice. The only prob is that 1/4 chain and bar don't like bigger wood and clog up oil port pretty easy, but that tip gets in a tight spot when limbing stuff 🖒

ive noticed that the session & the hero's format sd cards different. I have sd cards that work on the session but not in the hero...its always the good footage that gets lost (my experience)

Saw sounds to me like it's running rich on (H), from the "4-stroking". Bet you'll see more power output with it a tad leaner. IME, one thing about Echos- they're really hard to kill. Got a saw and brushcutter 40+ years old, that run like new.
Great video as usual August. Love them all. I'm not an arborist, just an enthusiast. Would love to see your take on my climbing saw, Echo CS-355T. It's heavier than your saw, along the lines of a 201t, but has more power than the 2511. Sadly it also does not have sights.

I have/ started on a cheap ms 170 and I still use it for when I pull shrubs, 35cc as you all probably know. That little 2511 25cc saw blows the ms171 out of the water… I might buy another one for shrub work!

Yeppers ... rich for break - in only ... then getr dialed-in ... betr to err on the rich side all things considered but she was 4-stroking heavily in the cut and never seemed to “clean-up” even when warmed up - STIHL cut / produced well ... nice lil tiny-mity-mo !
I agree too. Even for break in seems like its very fat.
I seriously don't know how these climbers can do that kind of work my hat's off to them it makes me nervous just looking at it

For real I thought I was scared of heights but apparently I'm not when I rig uo and climb lol. When you step on the wring branch lose all footing and your rope just holds you and you only drop half an inch......after that you feel pretty comfortable, not complacent, but comfortable
Hey August. Had the same GoPro video issue once. Ended up buying a unit that you put your SD card in and it connects straight to your phone. Was able to get my videos. Hope that helps.

Yep no need to cut wedges all the way down on a straight tree. The wood sits back on the sawdust and doesn't pinch the bar.

interesting point with the sights, but would the steeper angle of a carving style bar not throw out the accuracy of regular sights? At least scratching on some of your own would be tailored to your setup👍
