HI August, Here I was just wondering what to do, its been raining all day, chores are all in order, I put a nice old iron skillet in the oven with some corn bread batter. The cabin smells good but I am bored. I checked youtube, and there it was! A fresh MonkeyBeaver video. ahhhhh... thanks. Smiling, George.
No tree channel gets as good as shots as August. Its cool to think that generations of the Hunicke family into the future will get to know August through his videos.
Gorgeous work. Your skills are huge and your experience is self evident. Economy of movement. Precision to every move. And a fantastic crew who work so well together this is a real satisfying pleasure to watch. About the choice of music… ;-) midlife crises happen and can present in a melancholy and quietude. Nothing needs saying; it’s just a phase to pass through. My husband and I have a small doug fir tree farm. Basically we just enjoy our life among them. We abut the Gifford Pinchot in SW WA. Well he’s just turned.. 71 yesterday. 71 years old now. He’s an outdoorsman and physically fit as can be… and he has led an amazing life - in his 50s/60s.. and now 70s.. until 3 months ago. He’d ordered a few trucks full of freshly mixed topsoil and had sprayed it with water after having spread it. End of day he played with our Border Collie who loves biting at the hose water, 😄 and he came inside covered in wet soil. 🤷🏻♀️ Typical, lol. Showered. We thought nothing of it.. then he got what we’d thought was a flu. Which he never gets. 2 days in w/a slight fever? He suddenly collapsed in my arms comatose w/a fever spiked to 105.6! Raced to a very dystopian ER scene in “the best hospital in PDX”, and he was thisclose to death and they couldn’t pin down THE bug to be able to fight it well enough. He was in hospital 3+ weeks, antibiotic drip bags 6 at a time! :-( ALL the “big gun” antibiotics. Hideous results. Tendons ripped up, and more, but they had to. Finally 1 of his very good Drs on a guess tested for.. Legionaries Disease. Legionella! Cruise ship stuff that isn’t contagious. It’s obtained solely via water mist. A single guy getting it is SO rare. It lives in.. freshly mixed topsoils. Who knew? And whirlpool baths, which we also have. They’d been very concerned how he got it, had to determine it. Tests out of a Medford lab as closest that can even test for it as it’s rare to begin with, always gotten in huge warehouses or cruise ships/big box stores via very big and complicated A/C cooling tower setups. Except rarely. :-( He is recovering. Slowly. He’s regained so much, but it’s not gone yet. He has months ahead. It ate a hole through his left lung. Besides the sepsis, encephalopathy,.. He’s walking and mowing only still now, and he has to deal with this sudden reality that he’s human, and aging. It’s not an easy sell. But he’s recovering. And he’s past the melancholy of realizing life goes by in a wink, He’s who he is. He must be outdoors and FOing something. :-) Goes too hard and regrets it as ever! But yes he’s back with us, and his bday party was.. joyous family times. ❤️ He’s our rock. And we’ve been together since we were 17 and 16. Lol things were different then, mmksy? 😄 Hang in there Sir. You have so, so so much more living to do, young man. 👍😀😊 you’ll be happier than you can imagine as you move forward, enjoying the good stuff. God bless you, and yours. Stay safe up there.
Just be aware he is in the Rogue Valley (southern Oregon) and they start early and end at 2 during the summer months due to the dry weather. It's been a while since I've been down that way but I think they drop down to at least the 60's overnights, but it has been hot for a week or so, in the 90's to around 100F by the afternoons. I live in Puget Sound in Washington State and we've been in the low to mid 90's here, though today it'll hit 81 or so and then drop into the 70's for 3 days or so before we get back into the low to mid 80's again. The Rogue Valley can be hotter than that. It is a bit of a deception as we cool down at night, but heat up during the day.
Ahhh Awesome... got blessed with an August video today ❤❤ Been watching at least 5 year's and still just Love watching you in a tree !!! Thank you so much for all the extra work an time you put into these video's !!! The knowledge you have passed on is unbelievably appreciated and PRICELESS !!!! Sure hope I can pay a small portion of it back !!!
It’s crazy how accurate you can be dropping branches from up high. I usually do it from a 70ft bucket truck. I’ve never worked for a company that had a full time climber to learn from. I bought some gear and practice on small trees, haven’t even climbed 70ft let alone as high as you guys go. It’s only a couple times a year I get to work with a climber to learn from, so thank God for you and the other climbers on TH-cam sharing your experiences
August the pain in your back its hard to work with it, 2011 I had airplane crash going fish no bone broke but sore back I am 75 years now I have to Fight to get up so clean snow for my 3 neighbourhood there husdand are pass away , keep up the good work August ( ty Ron ) Dead Tree Hugger Man ( North ontario canada )
great video, nice shots captured, what a great channel August and your team ! What a dream team you got ! I am about to comeback into treework and can't wait to try your MB 2.0
Good job August! I did two large white pines like this one, this week and boy are my ropes are gummed up from the sap, worked through it still but so similar in the process except I had some more space so I feel accomplished in doing so and watching you and your crew makes me learn and appreciate the job even more. Thanks and stay safe!
Loved the screen flip with ‘Merica in the background. You always go the extra mile for us, we appreciate you and the crew! Thanks for another fun video August
Another fine video. One of the many lessons I have had to learn watching TH-cam, is that people do not do things the way I think they should, but they didn't consult me before they did it. It is your tree, your saw and your channel. Why would someone feel entitled to complain about how (or who) you get gas in your saw! Love you brother!
Every time I watch one of your videos, the weird Al Yankovic song," Like a Surgeon" comes to mind. I don't even cut trees and I am hooked. Your crew is great. 👍👍👍
Hey August .. Thanks so much for the shout out.. Glad you like the T shirt 😁😁😁.... Thank you very much for the saw ... Black beauty will be well taken care of...👍👍😋😋😋...
August. Just wanted to say thank you for everything you do. You are a great teacher of life thru tree work. Many blessings will come in the future if we keep our focus on what is true happiness thru Christ our Lord. Always praying for the safety of tree crews everywhere. GOD BLESS
Thank you for the video. Sure was a monster pine. Nothing like that up around here in NW IL. Always amazed at the size of your trees up there. Hope the crew / family and you are doing well. Take care - Be safe and always God Bless.
August! Wow, I really enjoy your content! As a Navy Veteran (Boatswain Mate / Rigger, line handler, etc) Love watching your knowledge of rigging and use and care of your ropes! I have also climbed, towers not trees and love the experience. I have a complete PETZEL full tower harness with seat. When I was working as an electrician now retired, I was given the chance to climb a water tower to service the warning lights. 185 feet to the ring platform, 240' to the top of the tank! Now the only high work I do is from a lift for Amateur Radio towers! I would like to hear about your experience with tower work, if any. Also, it would be nice to hear both sides of your comms. Keep up the excellent work, stay safe.
I appreciate the comment about the modification and issues. I modded the muffler myself on my 2511 T. I’ve taken it to three different shops in Central Oregon and there is no one that can get it running right. I’ve just about given up and put it in the back of the shed because it’s independable starting makes it dangerous in the tree. I know you mentioned on one of your videos that there is a need for a change in the timing setting. Maybe I need someone that knows how to do that?I’m desperately seeking somebody that knows anything about anyone that could help me. I would ship it out tomorrow to a professional but knows what to do! I love this little saw but it’s giving me fits!
Great video. Love my my CS2511T. It's been dieing out after each cut, then taking 6 pulls to restart. I need to check it out this weekend as I have tree work lined up this week.
I am always amazed that people leave these big trees in the middle of their drive and then decide later to take the tree out. But that is how you get to do these great videos for those of us that cannot do tree work anymore. Well done August and crew...
"Your back goes out more than you do"!! Ain't that the truth? Another great video. Always enjoy them...whether they're trees or airplanes. Maybe show some more flying videos...which might be easier on your back!
Love the shot at about the 31 minute mark where you can see the shadow of the tree on the roof? of the building below. Shows how much of the canopy is gone. Sort of looks like a palm tree
Great job. You always have great taste in music. I wish I could afford the 880. But I'm sure it will make someone very happy. Stay safe and I'll catch you on the next one.
Hey August. I am new at this, but I really have the passion for it. Your videos are very helpful for me to learn and do everything correctly. I have watched a few other people, but I find you very informative. Keep doing what you do. Stay safe brother 🙏.
I felled my first tree the other day. After all these videos I thought I could impress my peeps. Haha ! Pinched my saw back cutting and the neighbour had to push it over with his tractor after I broke 2 ropes trying to pull it.
Nerves of steel, balls too. Nice cut down, that was WAY up there. Hopefully your back feels better. Some times it takes a lot of time for a back injury to some what heal. Or for me it will not get better. Enjoy your youth
A Video from You and The Team always a Interesting insight in the Different growth from the Trees the self Family. You a great Artist on the Tees climbing. Your Videos Spitz class. Thank you.
Auguste I would rather haul a 5 litre bottle of fuel up the tree than the saw , the fuel is lighter and you could damage your saw hauling it up and down the tree plus my can has a control pump on it for no spillage, but I’m glad you’re up the tree and not me 40 feet up without a parachute is my limit keep your vlogs coming they are absolutely enjoyable
Your saw is like the little engine that could! Impressive that little saw could cut through that weird tree! Stay safe! By the way, I almost didn’t recognize you without the beard. You look good with a beard!
Great stuff as always brother!, have noticed the absence of the Panther bars lately…hope you’re not over them yet!…just grabbed a 16” for my 194 from you guys and think it’s fantastic
Enjoyed the video. You love the climb and rigging....it shows. Unfortunately age does come into play as we continue on. I contract climb for a local tree service. I climb one day a week....no more....once every couple weeks is better. I love it.....but, it takes me several days to recover. Ibuprofen is my friend. Nice video August. Good job bringing that one down. Got a question for you. How do you like the Sugi bar??? I like them. Got 4 of them. Y'all take care and have a blessed and safe day and I'll see you on your next video.

I agree with you about the modded saws. The shop in bartlett Tennessee said it is impossible to advance the timing on a chainsaw and refuse to work on mine because the timing is advanced. The owners has 30 plus years experience as a parts changer with no advanced knowledge
My factory 562xp with a scary sharp chain is more than enough for anything I normally do. A monster tree made me wish I had a lot longer bar the other day though.
Honestly you don't pay yourself enough for all the great camera angles and videos. I hope you ask for a raise soon so you can afford more airplane stuff.
I like the tip tie on the big log piece of the twisted limb, still no face cut just rip it around let it settle and slice it off. Obviously you so the same just saying when I was watching that’s just what I was thinking. Good work as always
I've have some tall crispy pines to remove for our school district this weekend. Not sure why the left the pines smack dab in the middle of the playground then put 2ft of mulch around them but hey gives me work.
As someone with a redundant back myself I see you walk the same way as I do as if you’re walking down the deck of a ship, rolling from side to side, can’t say it’ll ever get better I think you just learn to live with it, another very enjoyable post August, please don’t listen to these armchair experts August treat them with contempt and block them
😂 great job guys. Excellent video. I’m not in the market for an 880, but I am looking for a used 066 or equivalent. Something I could run a 30 or 32 inch bar on and still have power.
Chill out August You r the bomb Entertaining Educating Haters aren’t hating Just grabbing their minute of fame WE ARE ENERTAINED OTHERWISE WE WOULDNT BE SUBSCRIBED thank you
That’s Gordy from west coast saw got some of his dogs they are great set but if you watch vids of guys that stock saws you can tell ya can still get ton of work done with stock saws 👊
Best way I know of is to take a good piece of hardwood like Madrone or maple or oak or something and rip cut a few times. Rip cut in such a way as to throw a long ribbons of shavings
Love it when you mention little old ladies in your audience. 76 and loving it.
I was thinking of you actually lol

Well done August and crew...
Big thumbs up. I love it when you climb and rig.
Awesome camera work handsaw and editing August. Shout out Toronto Fire! And Gordy. Thanks as always. Take a vacation!
Echo makes a savage climb saw! I do most of my removals with a 355t, and the west coast saws dogs.

So impressed with your understanding of how to cut and predict
Great drop shot! Thanks for all your videos.
You had a whole lot of tree there August.....
.....but of course the MonkeyBeaver crew made "short" work of it. 😁
Keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤🌲
Randy
Have a nice week my friend
Great job. You always have great taste in music. I wish I could afford the 880. But I'm sure it will make someone very happy. Stay safe and I'll catch you on the next one.
Around the 32 minutes mark, you're shadow on the building made an awesome shot 😎👍🏼❤️🇬🇧🪓

Great job as usual! That's a nice big Pine!!!
Blue collar business owner, bad back. I get it. Welcome to the club. I'd love to become a pilot. I'm slightly jealous.
Nerves of steel, balls too. Nice cut down, that was WAY up there. Hopefully your back feels better. Some times it takes a lot of time for a back injury to some what heal. Or for me it will not get better. Enjoy your youth
33:40 that was awesome Jeff!!
When the tree is tall enough that you can say "headache"....SIX TIMES, and the guy still has time to step out from underneath!👏👏🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏
A Video from You and The Team always a Interesting insight in the Different growth from the Trees the self Family. You a great Artist on the Tees climbing. Your Videos Spitz class. Thank you.
I love how excited you got firing up your black 200t
Awesome 😄👍🏻🏴
Glad the back is working better.
Great job
Stay safe
I also just got my 2511t felling dogs, they are great
Love the WCS products
Just curious what happens to those big logs you loaded up at the end? Do they get taken to a saw mill? Thanks, great video!
Thanks!
Just got my ported 2511t loving it so for
Thanks for the view and the video. It's too bad our bodies don't come with a lifetime replacement warranty. Hope you're on the mend .
As usual very entertaining. Excellent quality pic coming from what ever camera's you are using, even the beat up one on your head. Thanks.
Nice job as usual. The only thing missing, the beard!
Thank you for another great video
Great stuff as always brother!, have noticed the absence of the Panther bars lately…hope you’re not over them yet!…just grabbed a 16” for my 194 from you guys and think it’s fantastic
Enjoyed the video. You love the climb and rigging....it shows. Unfortunately age does come into play as we continue on. I contract climb for a local tree service. I climb one day a week....no more....once every couple weeks is better. I love it.....but, it takes me several days to recover. Ibuprofen is my friend. Your videos of you climbing and talking, teaching are the most entertaining. Take care. (If you're 50 I got you by 26 years.)
hope your back gets better !!!! You’re my teacher man …. Feel better !!!!!!!
Nice video August. Good job bringing that one down. Got a question for you. How do you like the Sugi bar??? I like them. Got 4 of them. Y'all take care and have a blessed and safe day and I'll see you on your next video.
High quality bars
Never fail to amaze me and worry me every time!
Nice work as always. Like the clean shaven face too makes you look younger. What do you do with all of that wood that you haul away?
Love the donut operator shirt
Back pain. Lived with it all my life. Paper route at age 13. Big bag of papers (1963) every day 90 customers. High school and college worked in gas stations. Not a whole lot of muscles on a skinny guy. Back pain went away when I retired. I wouldn’t change a thing if I had it to do over again. Just saying…. N.E.OH Bob
Excellent footage man..
33:40 or Damian 😆 not sure who was on rope! But super smooth!
I agree with you about the modded saws. The shop in bartlett Tennessee said it is impossible to advance the timing on a chainsaw and refuse to work on mine because the timing is advanced. The owners has 30 plus years experience as a parts changer with no advanced knowledge
My neighbor across the bayou is a retired full bird from the air force, he’s given flight lessons out of Atlanta . Gotta go keep cutting.
My factory 562xp with a scary sharp chain is more than enough for anything I normally do. A monster tree made me wish I had a lot longer bar the other day though.
Looks like that tree was trying to reach Heaven, great job , stay safe my friend.
Honestly you don't pay yourself enough for all the great camera angles and videos. I hope you ask for a raise soon so you can afford more airplane stuff.
Yet another job well done.
Thanks August's back for letting him go into the ozone of tree love so he could share a great time with his treeps. 🤘.
I like the tip tie on the big log piece of the twisted limb, still no face cut just rip it around let it settle and slice it off. Obviously you so the same just saying when I was watching that’s just what I was thinking. Good work as always
Great video, just curious do you get paid for the long logs I don't know anything about tree work,GOD BLESS
I've have some tall crispy pines to remove for our school district this weekend. Not sure why the left the pines smack dab in the middle of the playground then put 2ft of mulch around them but hey gives me work.
Couldn't wait for another video August God bless my monkey Beaver 2.0 saddle is coming this week I'm excited
Nice!
Camera positioning is almost like your own martial art, Camerate.
😁
As someone with a redundant back myself I see you walk the same way as I do as if you’re walking down the deck of a ship, rolling from side to side, can’t say it’ll ever get better I think you just learn to live with it, another very enjoyable post August, please don’t listen to these armchair experts August treat them with contempt and block them
Are you guys able to sell the big logs to lumber yards for wood?
Glad you're back at it , lol.
😂 great job guys. Excellent video. I’m not in the market for an 880, but I am looking for a used 066 or equivalent. Something I could run a 30 or 32 inch bar on and still have power.
Like the America in the background!!
👍good job 👏
Everyone loves those mechanical rope grabbers on the lanyard/flip line. I’m probably the only one who still uses a 2-in-1 using a prussic. 😂
Well our trees are often covered in pitch which locks up the hitches.
What’s up August nice 😊 🤩🤙🤙
Awesome video brother as always
What do you do with the bigger sections of trees that you take down? Local lumber mill or split for fire wood( depending on species )
Nice job August... how tall was that one?
Do you mill the trunks into lumber?
for when you tie on the rope for the crane what type of knot do you tie for that situation
So your back has recovered as much as it can??
Hope not

Sending the saw down or the fuel up is ok either way. Its weird if they send Damian up to add fuel and oil to your saw. That would be weird. 😂
That’s Gordy from west coast saw got some of his dogs they are great set but if you watch vids of guys that stock saws you can tell ya can still get ton of work done with stock saws 👊
How do you get the pine sap off the chain?
Best way I know of is to take a good piece of hardwood like Madrone or maple or oak or something and rip cut a few times. Rip cut in such a way as to throw a long ribbons of shavings
How often do you have to replace the starters in those saws?🤣
