    Additional notes:
    I know for a sim racing rig there are a lot of choices out there. And some of them that are built using PVC pipes are as good as arcade seats. But they also take up a lot of room.
    I choose to take a minimalist approach because I want to be able to use it on both the PS3 and PC. For the PC I already have my set up and having a full cage with racing seat doesn't really work well with it.
    With this, the base board can just go under the PC desk, adjust the height and I'd be good to go. The only thing that will take up room is the top with the wheel and stick. I've seen some people's PC setup and I think this will work well for them as well.

      +Marcus Hui Ok, but the lateral force caused for the G27 force feedback is too much for those tables. You surely had to strengthen this structure.
      I´ m having problem with my wooden PC desk for the same reason, too much lateral movement.

    • @bigbigdog
      @bigbigdog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +de5letras I don't see to have problems with movement. The whole thing is heavy enough to secure it in place when you play.
      However I did added an extra piece of diagonal wood connecting the legs and the base board piece after this video was made.

    Thank you for not only telling us the dimensions in the video, but listing them in the description. There are so many videos that say, "I built a great stand", but do not give you any dimensions. Thanks again!!!

    I recently came across this vid in search of ideas and liked your design...just built one for my son! The best part was already having the wood leftover from a previous project. Thanks for putting this out there.

    Hi Marcus, congrats on the great video; I spent a lot of time trying to find a creative idea, but yours is a clear winner for me. The best part is the “adjustable” height, stability and made of solid wood. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am only hoping that mine will become as good as yours. Cheers, from Ontario, Canada!!! Best regards, Milan.

    This looks perfect, I am going downstairs to make one right now with my spare wood. I was going to mount a 4X4 post up the middle with my pedals to the right, but couldn't figure out how to make it height adjustable, guess I could use two 2X4's with holes like you did, but I think the double sided idea will be more sturdy anyways. Thanks for the video.

    im waiting for my g29 to come in to actually be able to play dirt rally without frustratingly crashing on every turn due to inability to properly downshift, e-brake, and turn with a regular controller and this IS THE BEST build video i found to build a sturdy adjustable rig. im about to build mine tomorw and will try to add a wheel tilt feature to make it even more adjustable. planning to stain mine and get some flower... i mean subaru stickers too! i really appreciate the idea and video!

      If you have the G920, the top board will be too thick to mount. 30cm or less for top board

      I'm a noob...how did you properly align all those holes? I measured, but when drilling things always seem to shift a bit... and then at the end most of the holes don't line up properly.

  • @mikeall75
    @mikeall75 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I like this stand. Simple, but seems strong and stable.
    The only thing I'd change is the height adjustment system.
    Instead of drilling many holes, I'd go for a long vertical line so you wouldn't have to remove the screws completely.

    I recommend to actually place the pedals much more forward, maybe even independently. And attach an extra arm with the same adjustable height option on the side. Then in my POV its the closest to an race seat like feeling :)

    Not to bad but far from "The Best time Homemade Stand". One thing I'd change is the way you have the height adjustment, instead of all the holes and having to remove 4 nuts,bolts & washers had you made a SLOTS in base & top side rails then used fender washers with bolts and wingnuts 2 on each side. That way all you need to do is loosen the wingnuts slightly and raise or lower the top without having to remove all those nuts and bolts.

      I know I'm Abit late lol, but just wanted to say while that will work for a while, it would more than likely start to slide down at some point, causing you to retighten it. If you do it his way, chances are you set it and forget it since it's possible that you're the only one using it.
      Once again, I know I'm late haha, but I figured I'd give my 2 cents haha.

      +VEX Blackout Thanks for watching. I have another video where I used the G27 on the GT6 for PS3.
      It's a very nice wheel. The paddle shifter was excellent and responsive. The stick shifter actually had 6 speed. Also the leather wrap wheel is very nice.
      I've also tried the Logitech Driving Force GT and I like this one better. Compare to the G27 the Driving Force GT's paddle shifter was just 2 buttons behind the steering wheel. It's hard to press doing play and the joy stick only have up and down shift.
      The only problem I had with the G27 is the 3 foot paddles are really close together. If they are wider then it'd be perfect.

    • @Hatouchu
      @Hatouchu 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! How is the feedback? It appears to be a wired wheel but I could be wrong. How responsive is it? I had an old wireless wheel for my Xbox 360 and that thing was a pain to use. I'd imagine the G27 is wired, however. :)

    • @bigbigdog
      @bigbigdog  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is wired. It has a USB connector and a power supply that goes to the wall outlet. The feed back is ok but the Force GT is stronger in my opinion.

    How did u matchup the holds to mount the peddles wit the bolts?

    • @bigbigdog
      @bigbigdog  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mike Rice I used a pencil to trace the outline of the peddle on the board first. then I measure the length of the bolt from the 4 side of the peddle. Using the same measure I put an X on where the bolt is suppose to go before I start drilling.
      But be careful because the bold is kinda off set to one side. So you have to know which side is which.I accidentally drill the wrong holes because I mirror imaged the bolt holes.
      Let me know if that doesn't make sense...

      Saw the video you posted of your rig and I don't understand at all the reason you talked that much shit. He built a racing STAND not a racing RIG like you did. If you had spent more time reading into the reason he made his as he did instead of trying to have a dick measuring contest you would have realized that he built this stand to go under a computer desk and not to fill up a closet like yours. Next time maybe you should buy foreign because clearly the "immigrant" knows how build better than you. 🙄 moron
