    I am TOTALLY in agreement with stacking for weight by avoiding worn/slick constitutional. And if you have a moment, check out International Stacker’s video where he does a massive comparison on what junk silver is the best to stack for the least amount of weight loss. The results surprised me! The winner was the Washington quarter. 😲
    Again, welcome back and I can’t wait to see more videos! Keep me coming. 😄👌🏼

      Great Idea Yankee Stacking! It seems 1964 is the best too stack. There's plenty of that year and are in the best shape! Dimes/Quarters/Halfs

    Great job on your stack. You are using logic and it is paying off. I bought some merc dime rolls from Apmex and some were very slick and thin. For the premium I paid, I was a touch disappointed. The silver value wasn’t there. So sticking with “newer” old stuff makes a lot of sense. Good job. Also buying from the LCS eliminates bad buys. You know exactly what you are getting. You don’t always know when you buy on line.

    This was really an excellent video. There's silver weight and old collectible coins and the video maker mostly goes for the weight. But he also sneaks in some collectible coins with the barbers and seated liberties. Sometimes people start out going for weight and then begin sneaking in more collectible coins like the Wash 1932-d and s and the Mercury 1921's and others. I think it's best to have both because in years when silver is flat; sometimes the collectible coins go up in value. I think having BU coins also is a good way to go

    Love the diversification and not being a 90% silver snobbish stacking-or just pure ASEs or a premium based collection. War nickels and 40% halves do have their place and are nice to add to your total weight from time to time. I am a pure weight stacker and when demand hikes drastically they will be a great place to swap with newbie stackers. Most people will start with the lower priced max weight and will not be in the hunt for shine but more so weight in my humble opinion.

    I LOVE war nickels! The look of the patina and cold feeling-very distinct. I have always thought that 40 percenters were a waste of money and time. Many coin shops don't even buy them. I tend to like the Roosevelt dimes more than the Mercury dimes for the same reason that the mercuries have lost a bit of silver. I will be using my tax return to get $100.00 face value of junk silver-most likely Benji's, Walkers, and Washington quarters.

    Very nice stack! For me, I like stacking dimes. They're pretty much the base of my stack. Then it's all about the generic 1 ounce silver rounds. Halves and quarters aren't far behind in importance. Eventually I'll fill a roll of silver dollars, just like you stated, by getting the 1921 Morgans and Peace dollars at a good price. But they're of least importance.
    As for gold, it's all about getting fractionals at a decent premium.

  • @chrisclanton4430
    @chrisclanton4430 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I agree about the 40% Halves. They're too big to have less silver than a quarter. I don't have any but find the war nickels interesting. As cheap king of the fractional coin (less silver than a dime). My junk is quite basic, but I'm happy with it, dimes (mercs and Rosies), quarters almost all Washingtons, except a few really slicked out standing libertys. Halves, the majority are Kennedys which I love for the lack of wear, 20 something Franklins( which I really like) and a couple of worn Walkers.
    You pronounced Monticello right the 1st time.

  • @veritasfiles
    @veritasfiles 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeah, I've got about $600 face of the 90%, but I'm definitely looking forward to the day when I hit the $1,000 mark. I don't keep any Standing Liberty or Barber coins of any kind. They are just too worn. The oldest coins that I actively buy are the Walking Liberty halves and the better condition Mercury dimes. I stay away from anything that approaches slick condition. If I do happen to get something approaching "slick territory", I usually add that to a separate stack that I build up for other people that I know will need help when things fall apart.

  • @SilverHeist
    @SilverHeist 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You have a nicely sized and balanced stack plus you know what you like and get good deals.
    My one advice is to not store the odds and ends in ziplocks. At least not too long. There is potential for PVC damage. The coin collector type channels know more. I couldn’t say if it is 2 mos, 2 years, or 10 yrs - but it is permanent damage to coin. Anything older with collectible premium would be shot.

    Hey Silver Spartan! It's been awhile! What a well detailed video! You should be proud of your stack! I'm surprised you don't have at least one Tube of Walking Liberty half dollars or Peace dollars. You can cherry pick some that have less wear at your LCS. Keep up the good work! A good mix of Constitutional Silver/ .999 fine is a great idea. Some people don't like the 90%, but i think its Awesome! Its Real Money! Look forward to more videos! Please don't wait 9 months! ;)

    Awesome stack. The historian in me loves 90 % coins. Older the better. Just got a barber dime that would trade in the MS range. So THAT'S what they're supposed to look ljke....
    As for advice and thoughts as requested, I'd check your standing lib quarters for any Type 1s. Easy check, e ven with the obverse year degradation so common to the series. Type 1s were only made for 2 years and on the reverse do not have the 3 stars beneath the eagle. Nice and easy and very cool.

    Nice Stack Bro. ! I would grab more Roosevelt dimes... Should we need to use this in the future, dimes would be the best bet ! In any case VERY NICE ! ... One last thing, not sure if things have changed but the war nickels are hard to separate the silver from the vase metal "manganese" .. Last time I heard companies are working hard to make the separation of silver from the coin easier ...

    • @silverspinner8516
      @silverspinner8516 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      rockinrod1 I made the mistake early in my stacking by purchasing BU rolls of Roosevelt’s, Washington’s, and Kennedy’s all 1964 and paying big premiums for each typically around 13-14x face. This was way to high a price for common date coins. I instead look for nice lightly circulated coins that I can find closer to spot or less.

    Does the face value vs. the silver content even make a difference? You’re still paying at least the THE 40% silver spot ???. Silver is silver. -%ge of 90% vs 40% is still the same percentage of what you paid for the 90% vs 40%. And both coin’s face is still 50c

    Watching this on 6/26/24 and calculating as i go (slqs, barbers, and seateds were just eyeballed) you have 401 oz of silver (give or take) 8lbs of copper, and like .2 lbs of manganese, giving you a total of aprx. $11,571.17
