I used 2 of these to migrate raid-0 2 x 2TB 980 Pro partition to 2 X 4TB NVMe raid-0 partition. I have 2 USB-C ports on my mobo so was fast af. I know I could have done with much cheaper enclosures but all my setup is ROG so, why not hehe. Thanks for the video.
does it support 4TB drives? on Asus site there is written "ROG Strix Arion fits* 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCIe NVM Express® SSD up to 2TB with M key/ B+M key. **" and im curious about it.
I wish there was a way to select which lighting color you want on macbook :/ Mabye you could just plug this SSD enclosure into a friend's Windows computer & open Armoury Crate/Aura Sync to permanently configure/select the lighting color for use with Mac? Or use the same method to turn off the light since people are saying it makes the drive too hot?
You could disable the light and change the color once you use Aura Sync on a friend's computer, but yeah it's unfortunate for mac users 😔 to be fair though, ROG is marketed towards PC gamers. I haven't used it without the light, but I would assume it would reduce the temps since it makes sense
@FIREWOLFTECH I will buy this enclosure, hook it up to a friend's computer & disable or change the light color! Hopefully whichever I choose will indeed remain when I hook it back up to my macbook! I noticed you use both a windows & a macbook computer? I ask to confirm, have you yourself tried changing the color with Aura Sync/Armoury Crate, plugging it back into your Macbook & noticed the color you changed it to on windows remains while connected to your Macbook? I've started watching more of your videos thanks to your reply.
@@everettwinterlast8704 yes it'll remain. By default the Aura Sync is set to cycle through many colors, but after changing the color, it remains that way regardless of device
With the heatsink no, you wouldn’t be able to close it up. It’ll probably work without putting the top cover on. I recommend getting the 990 Pro without heatsink
@@FIREWOLFTECH Thank you for the advise & I had managed to get SSD Samsung 990 Pro 1TB without heatsink already (today). Unfortunately, after tested with ROG Strix Arion, the read speed is only 968MB/s instead of promising speed by SSD manufacturer of 7450MB/s. Have you experienced this before? Is that normal or SSD problems? Or probably Enclosure issues? Anybody here have experienced the same issues? Thank you in advance for your sharing 😊
@@mohdsallehmussawari7367 i think to reach that advertised speed is to use it in a compatible PCIe gen 4 slot. Even though the ROG STRIX Arion has theoretical speeds of up to 10gps (usb 3.2) it really depends on the actual SSD being able to output that via USB. These SSD rely on those PCIe slots. You could look into thunderbolt 4 enclosures for faster speeds. I actually just got the 990 Pro with heat sink that I’m planning on doing a video on my gaming PC and run a benchmark on it
@@mohdsallehmussawari7367limitation factor is the USBC which is up to around 1000mb/s. Even if you get a $100 thunderbolt 4 enclosure you will still be limited to around 2800mb/s. So the only way to get full speed is by installing directly on a motherboard that supports nvme gen4 speed.
You already got an answer but thought I'd put in my two cents anyways. The top cover portion of this is meant to fully enclose it and protect it, also has thermal insulation. It absolutely can handle one with a heatsink but you cannot close the top on it, but also you don't need to for thermal reasons since it already has a heatsink installed on the SSD. Now of course the only reason you'd want to buy this if you only have one with a heatsink is if you used this not as a permanent means of accessing your SSD but for transferring data. This is a bit ridiculous as far as a m.2->USB goes but of course it's also meant for people like the poster of this video who will use it on a laptop, especially a mac who cannot really install an m.2 stick easily. Whenever I build a new PC or have some sort of issue, or help out someone else I will use the Arion as it helps greatly, any other m.2->USB would work as well but I decided just to get this one
@FireWolfTech I appreciate the quick response on such an old video! I realized that there was an update I needed, but it kept disappearing, it only showed up when I had the enclosure connected but once I installed it, it started working great!
I think too I saw a guy using a 8TB for PS5 so I think yes but depending on the xbox compatibility you should read what's the limit of storage, for example PS5 you can install 8TB inside the console plus another external drive 8TB so you can have 16TB massive! I have WD Black 8TB for PS5 and it's working good I'm planning upgrade the internal storage to 8TB in the future and xbox series x 2TB
@@alphaxsnowwolf9376 that's about 32TB I have only 2 games on xbox series x but PS5 I have like 500 mixed PS4, PS5 and digital games still I have a lot space

I put a 4tb Crucial ssd into one of these answers it worked fine.
Could it be that at the time it released, that 4TB nvmes were not widely available?

We can uae it with rog ally?
are you able to connect it to your phone and copy more than 1.5GB data without it failing?
my question too
after you formatwd in ExFat, is it possible to connect to Android devices?
No

Does it work on android phone ? After you Format it as exFat
don't have an android phone on me, but I did try the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and while it does light up, it doesn't detect it

I think this is kind of a fail since you need a special pin to open it up.
You can use a sim ejector tool, earring, or a thumbtack to open it. As long as you have those lying around, its not that bad
