I ordered mine in the morning they released it. The sound balance is great, which won’t sound loud when you drive normally, but will sound great and loud when you are doing some aggressive driving, which is a good thing. Also, the weight of the exhaust also makes the car a bit lighter, which is another benefit of having this. Having it with their intake would be a great combination. I recommend this to people who wants some aggressive sound, but not too over when doing daily driving.
Great video. I definitely like how you did it. This exhaust sound better than I expected and doesn’t drone as bad. I commute 120 miles a day, this doesn’t seem like it will annoy me crusing at 75 mph. My biggest fear was drone around 2k rpms.
I have a borla axel back on my 2018. Friend convinced me to remove the resonator and it made it much louder. Sounds amazing. I'd say it only "drones" at 75+ 'mph. And cold start is pretty loud lol
so it has a muffled side and a straight pipe side...curious how the two balance each other. Your noise will depend on engine load. Going up inclines with cruise control on will change the tone as the engine has to work harder. What would be neat would be to have a valve to direct flow either to the muffler, or to the straight pipe, depending on your mood at the time...Definitely looked well put together...
Excellent video and very informative. Seems a bit harsh of a sound for me though. Interesting that the right exhaust essentially isn't muffled at all (so your main sound will come out there) and there is a muffler for the left outlet. Does the muffler for the left bounce around and hit the heat shield at all? It looked like the clearance was pretty tight.
Sounds good. I'm waiting for the 80mm because I've got the 2.5T and want to gain some flow to help the JB4 tuner I also purchased. The quality vs price of a Borla, etc can't be beat.
@@bobbygreene5160 It's a band-aid. Effective, but not a real tuning solution. It's a 4psi bump on 93 octane, and it delivers some readily noticeable AWHP and TQ, particularly in the lower RPMs. We're going to need something more advanced to take advantage of the octane in E30 / optimal peak timing to wring out the extra ~30hp/~40tq.
I think some of the low-end growl got lost after uploading to TH-cam unfortunately. It does sound pretty good in person I think. Not amazing but pretty good.
Yup I'm sold getting one for sure as soon as my warranty drops off, just bought a 2019 used with 24,800 km on her so she pretty fresh still. Great drive though love that car.
Thank you for this. This is next on the list for my 2019 GS hatchback, but I've no idea what I'm doing. Watching made me way less stressed. Great work. Edit; The Axleback has arrived! Watching this again so I know 100% what to do! 😀😀
I’m looking to swap out my HB with the CS real soon. Just now wondering as to what you possibly chose to do with your OEM exhaust after install?…Sell?…Junkyard?
I know this comment is old, but corksport full catback and a short ram intake gain +12whp on their dyno. The intake is very minimal gain, a K&N would probably get you almost the same since it's not sucking in hot air like a short ram. The stock exhaust is very restricted for emissions. You can feel the exhaust vibrate even if it's warmed. Seems like it's struggling to push the exhaust gases at low RPM because the diameter is so small. Plus you get a nice sound, it's unique from all the other NA inline 4 due to its big bore long stroke and high compression.
Thanks for the upload. Corksport needs to get off their asses and fab a full exhaust manifold with a high flow cat option, That's the bottleneck of all the HP problems
Update: Just installed the Corksport axle-back, it does sound good, nice deep cold start, not ricey on acceleration, and very low to no drone in the cabin. I did have rear passengers for the shakedown ride, they did have slight drone in the back seats, SGT sedan. I played with the flange mount to get it as flush as possible to the mid-pipe. Maybe a flange gasket, not donut, will even out that very little gap. Did soapy water leak test on the flange, no bubbles. Corksport does have a header for manual models only. At this point, I don't need it. The short ram, cold air box and this axle-back is all I need, looking for cams next.
Great video and Awsome content. Subscribed, liked and hit the bell icon. ;) Dude I am glad I found you. If I am not wrong you had started a Facebook page for Mazda3 grey sedans. I am part of it. I recognized you when I saw your license plate. Glad to connect. I have a 2020 Mazda3 grey sedan as well. I would like to take your advice on a couple things. Thanks again for these Awsome tutorials.
corksport has much better experience with mazdas, they basically specialize in them unlike borla and the others. i have a 3 and went with corksport, it sounds great but doesn't sound ricey. with borla, it's a bit extreme
Great video! Would you mind doing a video on how you record the exhaust audio externally? I know you mentioned it in this video, but was curious to see how it really is setup.
Depends on your country but in general it should not void your powertrain warranty. If you live in the US, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act provides protection against manufacturers refusing repairs unless they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that your modification was the cause of the issue.
I'm not sure, we only have the 2.5 here in the states. I imagine it would probably be the same but if you're wanting to get it just make sure you check compatibility with CorkSport beforehand
What size ratchet and torque wrench did you use in this video? And what size do you recommend for basic/intermediate car projects, 1/4 3/8 or 1/2 Id appreciate the help Thank you
I think I was using my 1/2" but if I could only have one I'd probably but a 3/8". I think if you use a spanner wrench on the side where the bolt sticks out you can get away with a normal depth socket
mine's an auto. it would probably be more useful in a manual since it lets you hear what the car is doing a bit better but it's still fun enough in an auto
mehhh its kinda ricey, the magnaflow sounds a lot more cleaner. corksport makes good products but this is too loud for me, i enjoy the quiet cabin of my 3
That was condensation from warm air blowing through a cold pipe. if you had liquid gas coming out of your exhaust something would be very very wrong with your car

The quality of this video is tremendous. The amount of effort and thought put in dwarfs that of a channel triple its size... well done friend!
Thanks! It takes a lot of time so I can't always make them like this
The only video that does the sound justice

Can't wait to install it on my Mazda 3 . Mine is a 6 speed manual.

love it when ppl do DIY stuff but 499.99 is a bit too pricey for me especially when there's no performance gains.

Great video I like the sound but I think I will go with the magma flown system.
Did you end up installing the magna flow exhaust? How does it sound compared to this one?
Did you lose low end torque? Usually you do when your change from OEM muffler.
Yes you do people. BEWARE!

You should do a resonator delete this way you could hear like the little pops and stuff
