Great video ,help me understand why my deferential was lock since it has been rebuilt. Finally I got it unlocked as seen in the video, turning in to the right fully on my FJ 2012. Thank you for sharing.. ❤
Toyota uses a special body grease that conducts electrical current. It is exspensive and hard to get so I used Carbon Conductive Grease. This grease allows the current to pass through, and was cheap.Timing is critical, my VX-80 has a different style to what you are displaying. Another problem they have is the magnets falling off the can. I cleaned the can, used ice cream sticks to space magnet & good loctite super glue to stick magnet back in place.
Thank you for this explanation. To clarify my confusion...if I am installing a new actuator into the rear diff. With the old unit removed and unplugged. Slide the toothed lever in the diff all the way to the passenger side to lock the rear end and then make sure the new unit is indexed at 12:30. Before plugging in the new unit and reinstalling, do I want to engage the rear diff lock switch (with the truck in 4-Lo), then turn the power off and connect the new unit. Install, and turn the truck on, then disengage the switch to unlock the rear end? Also, is it easy to turn the gear on the actuator if it is not indexed properly? This is for a 5th Gen 4Runner.
When you insert the actuator on the locked slider bar of the diff mechanism, PLEASE tell me if the actuator you inserted also on lock position gears, and the lock switch also was pressed on “ locked position ”?
Yea so I think your talking about the locker flat gear inside the axle right? I had a similar issue and yea I think I remember I needed to lift the wheels off the ground to allow a little movement and then that flat gear could move for me
Have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser had it diagnosed and the locking differential light is on had a mechanic check it and he said no power to the actuator as he tested it could it be a wire?

Nice video man!

Hey yes it all should be configured to be locked. I’ve inserted it before where one was in the unlocked and it didn’t have enough movement to operate
@@undertow_overland it works!
I got one from ebay cleaned add new grease and good to go, now my taco as an extra wheel.
Thanks Buddy!
Great Video! I cant get that rack to move in either direcrion with a screwdriver? Does the back wheels need to be off the ground?

Yea it could be the power to the unit. I’d maybe try to check the harness w a voltmeter to see about that too
Nice video
Thank you! I hope it helped some
What is the "square"? Square what? twelve thirty with what orientation on the E-locker unit?
Hey yea I think I mean the little square looking notch in the center of the gear so you can orient it correctly
Where did you get the replacement O-rings?
I took out my old ones and went to Ace Hardware and compared the ones they had. Not exact match but close enough for some of them
He’s so cute 🖤
