Thank you for sharing this all in a compact video. I don't like to spend 30-40 minutes watching one thing and you covered many topics in a much shorter time. Much appreciated and very well explained.
Thank you for such clear & concise explanations along w/visuals. I appreciate the scope & pace. You don't drag it out w/irrelevant jabber like many others & you don't rush it either. You cover the details perfectly! Thank you!
Omg just bought a Cricut and had no idea about the different tips... THANK YOU for this. Looking forward to seeing your other videos and learning more.
Awesome video! Thank you so much 😊. One tip I picked up when engraving aluminum... move your white wheels off to the side, or you’ll get roller marks that won’t come out! (Sorry if this tip was already posted: I looked, but I didn’t see it)
Hi, so beautiful to hear all that information from you. Thank you so much but I just have one question if I want to do a gift box, what could I use one of those? Can you let me know please thank you.
Angie when you load tools with QSH the plastic piece on top of the gears you leave on. Another sites Video "Makers going to learn" took it off of the rotary blade, he said from a cricut seminar he learned suppose to take off. ????? I seam to learn better from you your full of so much knowledge, have you heard this? I took mine off do I need to put back on?
Wonderful video. I really loved seeing all the detailed comparisons. Thank you. I will be referring to these videos as I begin to develop projects to use these various tips. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
I loved your video on which tips to use on a variety of materials. I know faux suede is not recommended for Cricut but they sell it and I need crochet hat tags. Do you know if the engraving tool will work on faux suede?
I have that on my list to try myself. I have seen others try it and the results are not very clean. I am wondering if I can get it to work and actually look good.
Thank you for your reply. Ooh I’d be exited to see if you can get it working, would be a really exciting feature to add to projects. Have only just got my cricut this week so am brand new to the gig, so excited to get making 😊
checking in to see if either of you ladies tried engraving the wood yet. Also, Angie, I love ALL your videos. Super informative and very thorough. I know this video is old 😃. Have you tried engraving on apple wristbands?
Very informative video. I’ve been seeing quite a few vids with the leather but it seems to mostly be chrome tan leather which traditionally can’t be “tooled”. Veg tan however can be after it’s ‘cased’ (dampened). So I was curious as to whether the Deboss tool would work any better on cased veg tanned leather rather than chrome tanned.
Question - I see cards made with foil engraving. You did not cover that, but am wondering if you have tried it or can recommend it. I'm a newbie, so anything I try with my Maker3 is new to me! TY. I enjoy your clear, concise demos and explanations.
Hi Angie, I am planning to buy a cricut and your videos are really helpful. I just have another question about the kinds of metal cricuts could engrave on. Can it engrave on a thick stainless steel necklace pendant? I understand this video is 2 yrs old but I hope you could help me more about cricuts. Thank you so much
Great tutorial but you go a little fast. I had to run it five times to see how you centered and welded and I still couldn’t get it. I ended up just clicking links until I figured it out. Also I learned that pre-filled lettering looks the best. Maybe you can explore that and mention it in a future video. While I didn’t get all the info from this video it did push me even attempt this project so for that thank you thank you thank you!!
That's really great! The aluminum painted black looked really cool! Can glass be engraved with the Maker? I have a piece of glass that I took out of a picture frame and thought it would be really cool to engrave it. I think it is about 1.5 to 2 mm thick.
Hello, thank you for all your videos you are awesome! Question.. I haven’t done any projects with my cricut yet.. just learning by watching videos.. my question is does Deboss work on regular paper?
Could you engrave thicker copper or silver sheets as long as you were not trying to cut? I’m a silversmith and I thought of engraving a design on the metal like a pattern to follow when stamping the metal.
Angie, would I ever have to replace the engraving tool? I have 100 acrylic key chains to make and don’t want to stop and wait to purchase another. Should I have an extra on hand? Thanks❤️🇨🇦
Really good video. I've veneered some thin ply with a real wood veneer. Would the engraving tip work to engrave lettering on the wood veneer to reveal the plywood/another material behind it?
I recently got the deboss, engrave, wave and perforator tools. I watched the deboss tool video and loved it and then I thought I would try it on chipboard only to do what you just showed as would not work. Dah! I should have watched this video before I wrecked a small portion of my chipboard. !! HA, jokes on me.

Thank you for this video it was wonderfully helpful. I tried to engrave on a 36 gauge copper sheet with my maker. The engraving was very light and it didn't cut out the shape at all. What setting does it need to be on to cut through the copper? Many thanks!
I’d really like to know if this would work on cork fabric. It would be awesome to make labels with my logo on cork fabric that I can sew into my products.
If you flip the mat upside down, you can curl the mat away from the copper instead of the copper away from the mat. That way your copper isn't as curly coming off

Loving these videos showing what we can and can't do with the tips. We don't have them in Australia yet, but thanks to your video I am well informed.
I want to use the engraving tip on some copper I bought. Also on acrylic coasters and keychains
Good luck!
i love how you store your spraypaint!

Great video, can you adjust the Cricut for material thickness
To adjust the Cricut, you just pick a different material in Design Space. There are no adjustments on the actual machine that need to be made.

where is the best place to get the copper sheets, aluminum, and acrylic? Thanks for the tutorial!! I love he engraving tip!
I pick up my copper and aluminum on a roll at the craft store. Acrylic I usually get from Amazon or etsy.
@@AngieHolden Thanks!! What thickness do you purchase for both? What is the thickness limit?
For engraving, the metal can be as thick as you would like. It just needs to fit under the roller so the maximum is 2.4 mm.

Hi... I enjoyed this video... I would like to know if the Cricut Maker would work on engraving or de-bossing on Stryrene sheets?

Thanks! Hey do you think it's good to have multiple quick change units?
It is not really needed. I do but I do use my Cricut a ton.
Do you think it will work with rubber? I want to make rubber stamps
I have not tried that. It would not be able to be very thick though.
What thinkness was your aluminum and what material did you tell the Cricut that you were using?
There is an aluminum sheet setting when you are engraving. I have used several thicknesses. The max would be about 2.0 mm though.
If you flip the mat upside down, you can curl the mat away from the copper instead of the copper away from the mat. That way your copper isn't as curly coming off

I'm curious about the sterling as well. While sterling may be too hard, once annealed, it may be soft enough to work with.
Did you spray paint the aluminum black at the end or do you buy the sheets already that way? And how would the engraving tool work for tags?

Which is tool is better for cork trivets the engraving tool or debossing tool? I'm trying to engrave/cut my logo on a cork lid.
Cork is just going to shred with either of these tools. I don't think you can engrave it with the Maker.
Can you engrave plexiglass twice so that the engraving is deeper?
I would think so? I haven't done this will plexiglass but I have with other materials.
Can you use the engraving tool on glass from a picture frame?
No.
What kind of paint would one use to paint aluminum? Guessing spray paint, one with a self etching primer.
Yep a good quality spray paint that is intended for metal should work fine. You can also buy pre-painted sheets (as I did here).
Angie, how thick is the aluminum?
I have done as thick as will fit in my machine frankly.
*NOTE* She says the engraver will engrave "metal" it will NOT engrave any quality sterling silver charms - I learned this lesson the hard way.
I have not tested all types of metal nor all types of charms. Sterling silver is a really hard material.
Does the quick housing come with the Maker rotary tool that's already included?
No the quick swap housing is different from the rotary blade housing.

Which type should I use to engrave a silicone Apple Watch band?
