Love this idea. Might use it for my kids classmates this Christmas. So easy to do. I love that you keep your videos short and to the point. Thank you for that.
My, my Lady Angie, you're totally fantastic. Thank you for this magical tutoriel. This is good to engrave information (address or phone numbers on a metal key ring for an Alzheimer person, friend or family.
Hi! I’m trying my first engraving. I put engraving tool in the holder B as you show on your video but when I started to engraving it seems to use the clamp A which is nothing in there. How can I fix it? Thank you

Thank you so much for this video. I just ordered my tool for my exploer 2 and I cant wait to try it . Do you recommend any certin dor tags, brands ect? If so do you have a link?
I wanted to do this engraving on dog tags with the name of the dog rescue I volunteer for. To keep them from scratches, what would you recommend as a protective shield over the engraving: clear nail polish or even a few coats of lodge podge?
hey thanks for the video!i actually got my housing and engraving tip today and i have an image i wanted to engrave on some metal and wanted to know if its the same process using images with letters and or pictures?
I have an Air 2 and bought the Cricut brand engraver and I can’t make it work. Should I have purchased the other one you showed instead? I am a Cricut newbie.
Can you use this engraving method on a metal kitchen spatula, using the Cricut Explore Air 2, or is it the ornament metal it would only work with? Thanks much!

Hi! I just tried this and my first pass came out rough feeling, do you think I should have let it go twice to make it smoother? Yours looked more deeper after a first pass than mine did. Suggestions?
I bought a engraving tip but it doesn’t reach all the way down to my metal. It makes the cutting motions but doesn’t cut nor touch my metal, please help
Doesn't Cricut make an engraving tool? I thought they advertised that it can engrave. You would think they would have the tool? I'm a newbie. I just got my Maker yesterday. 3-3-22

I dont know if I'm doing some thing wrong because I think this tool absolutely stinks! Mine keeps popping out the slot while its cutting. I have been using the cricut aluminum plates and have cut like 35 times and u can barely see the cut on the plate. I'm so frustrated with it.
Definitely possible. It will only go around the outside of your image or you can make it do a few inside details. In other words, it won't be a fully detailed image.
do you have a viedo on engraving on leather with this tool? Or has anyone tried it on leather. I understand the leather has to be 2mm or less. I want to try using leather on the Explore 2 with the tip you used in this video from Amazon. Thanks!
I have them linked in the description below the video. On computer, click show more. On mobile, there is an arrow to expand the description or you might have to swipe up on the video depending on how you are watching.
Cut the shapes out in card stock what you line up on the corner that way you can do batches that all look consistent just load the ornaments into the cut outs as a jig
Personally I would not be happy with the quality of this engraving. It looks very amateurish. Sorry to say. I would neither sell nor gift these. The 'Hazel' is so jagged.
Oh my goodness - I have the Air 2 and now I can engrave on metal? Amazing !
Yes!
Thank you for the video. I received my engraving tool and it work great with my Explorer Air 2. Thanks again
thank you for the video. how small of a font do you think the tool is capable of engraving?
Pretty small however it is harder to locate a small design accurately.
That worked out so well! I'm so glad it worked for you! I definitely need to pick up one of those enamel markers!!!
Those markers are the best!!
They work really well dude. Even on my garbage stamping they fill it out nicely.
Yes! You can do that as well!
Thank you for this, Angie! Should I select “More” pressure in Design Space once I’ve set the custom cardstock setting?
Yes that is correct.
Hi! I’m trying my first engraving. I put engraving tool in the holder B as you show on your video but when I started to engraving it seems to use the clamp A which is nothing in there. How can I fix it? Thank you
Sounds like you made the engraving draw lines. Try making them cut lines with an Explore.
@@AngieHolden thank you so much.
Ordered all the supplies. I can't wait to do this! This was my reason for wanting a Maker, so if this works, I won't need to upgrade for awhile!
Yay! I hope you love it!
@@AngieHolden I have so many blanks from Impressart just collecting dust because I suck at metal stamping. This will give them all a brand new life!
Yes!! This is a game changer for me!! I have so many blanks that I can now use!!! Thanks so much.
Thanks for watching!
@@lanamimes8310 I feel like that's going to be SO MANY OF US who thought "Oh stamping isn't that hard" and then realized "Oh it kinda sucks!" lol
How thin does the metal have to be? Would a 1/4” thick piece work?
The maximum thickness for the Maker is 2.4 mm.
Have you tried this on stainless steel or only aluminum?
I have tried it on a version of stainless steel that ImpressArt sells.
can this be used on the metal bracelets from the same company as well?
Yes! I have done those before!
I'd like to know if I I can cut metal tape (used for duct work) on my Cricut Maker?
I don't think it will work.
Can I use this tool for maker 3 also
As i dont have engraving tip planning to buy this cheaper one
You can use it in a Maker the same way I show here.
Hi with it work on a regular air Explorer?
Yes it will.
Hello Angie. Can you please send me the link for the engraving tool? I am not sure how old this video is. I couldn't locate the link you mentioned.
In the description below the video. On computer, scroll down and click show more. On mobile, swipe up on the video or click the arrow to expand the description.
Oh these ornaments are absolutely darling!! Thank you very much for all the tips and full instructions!
🧦🎄🧦🎄🧦🎄🧦🎄🧦
You are so welcome!
You made it look so doable. Super excited
Is there an engraving tool that will fit and old Cricut expressions machine?
I am not sure about the Expression as I have never used that one.
Will this work on leather?
It does work on leather but the effect is almost like scratching the leather rather than looking like it is embossed into the material.
Hi so you put the option on custom in your machine?
Turn dial to custom to get the material options.
Am I missing the link to this engraving tool? I don’t see it
It is in the description below the video. On computer click show more. On mobile click the arrow or swipe up.
Thank you for your help. I had emailed you and you literally emailed me back shortly and was very helpful! ❤
Glad I could help!
Thank you! This video was very helpful! Would you use the same process and tools to engrave on acrylic?
Yes! I did that here: th-cam.com/video/IDYTjzUy120/w-d-xo.html
This worked perfectly, thank you for your awesome content.
Glad it helped!
Hi Angie...
Do you think this can be useful on silver ?
I think so? I haven't tried actual silver.
Hi! Can I use my Explorer 2 to make the metal cuff bracelets as shown in your other video?
Yes. You would do it like shown in this video but use those blanks instead.
@@AngieHolden Thank you so much!
Can you engrave acrylic with this same tip?
I will be trying some more things with it so stay tuned!
@@AngieHolden I will. Love your videos!
Thank you so much for this video. I just ordered my tool for my exploer 2 and I cant wait to try it . Do you recommend any certin dor tags, brands ect? If so do you have a link?
I recommend ImpressArt. I have them linked in the description below this video for the ornaments. You can search their site for other blank types.
Great video I have a Cricut explorer 2 air and I am so happy that I can in-grave ❤️❤️
Have fun!
@@AngieHolden I sure will be having fun making ❤️
I wanted to do this engraving on dog tags with the name of the dog rescue I volunteer for. To keep them from scratches, what would you recommend as a protective shield over the engraving: clear nail polish or even a few coats of lodge podge?
I mean when you purchase one it doesn't have a coating that I know of?
Can this engraving tool be used with the Cricut Joy?
No it cannot.
Love this video! Please do more tutorials like this for the explorer air 2.
More to come!
Cute project! I just bought the Maker 3 and a few of the tips- yup all but the wavy lol🤦♀️ can’t wait to try out metal engraving
Have fun!
Well this opens up a whole new world! How fun and exciting! Thank you so much for this awesome info!!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Angie can I use this tool on acrylic blanks?
Yes! Try this: th-cam.com/video/IDYTjzUy120/w-d-xo.html
Thanking you, will go to Amazon to order the engraving tool.
Wow I never knew I could engrave with my maker. Love your videos.
Glad I could help!
Would this tip also work for thin plastic to make things like keychains?
Yes you can engrave those.
Perfect timing - this is going to be part of my Christmas sets! Yay! Thank you for this tutorial
Hope you enjoy it!
cool video! is it the same process when doing an image on the explore air 2 with a housing and engraving tip?
Will the graving tool for the Maker fit on the explorer 2
No it will not.
❤ thank you
Is this toll good for engraving acrylic?
I did that here: th-cam.com/video/IDYTjzUy120/w-d-xo.html
hey thanks for the video!i actually got my housing and engraving tip today and i have an image i wanted to engrave on some metal and wanted to know if its the same process using images with letters and or pictures?
Basically! If you are using your Explore, your lines should be cut lines. If you are using a Maker, you will want to change to engrave lines.
How do you use the other engraving blade? I have it but thought I couldn't use it for my Explorer Air 2
The Cricut brand engraving tool is only for the Maker or Maker 3. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/xGed4ytHzko/w-d-xo.html
And... what is the smaller size you recommend to avoid problems?
Totally not sure. I think you could do smaller things you will just have more trial and error with placement.
I have an Air 2 and bought the Cricut brand engraver and I can’t make it work. Should I have purchased the other one you showed instead? I am a Cricut newbie.
I went back and looked at your links and saw the Cricut brand was for the Maker. Oops, my bad!🤭
Yep the Cricut one is only for the Maker!
Angie would a person be able to engrave acrylic with this blade that you used?? Thank you! You an amazing teacher
I am not sure yet! I have that on my list to try!
I’ve seen this too before I don’t think I would have trusted it before now thanks Angie Holden
No problem!
So I got the engraver and now my cricut won’t cut with the normal knife, do I need to recalibrate or something?
What is it doing that it doesn't cut? Not sure what the machine is doing?
@@AngieHolden it will now only cut on card stock heavy but then doesn’t get the full cut in some spots and then will now cut too deep if it does cut.
Can you use this engraving method on a metal kitchen spatula, using the Cricut Explore Air 2, or is it the ornament metal it would only work with? Thanks much!
I have not done the spatulas at all so I hesitate to give advice on those!
@@AngieHolden Thank you kindly!
Another awesome video. Thank you so much Angie! Ordering my engraving tip asap 😀

Hello, great video! I was curious about the thickness of the ornaments?
I am not sure how thick they were. Maybe see if it says on the website where you buy the blanks.
can you use the cricut maker engraving tool on the explore air 2?
No. It has to be this off brand tool.
Can you use the quick swap housing in the explore air 2 ? As Iv tried but it’s not working

The company that makes those blanks has blanks in different types of metal. Have you tried anything bedsides aluminum?
I have tried many of them. I have several videos on TH-cam.
Can I use this same process for engraving on plexiglass or acrylic sheets? I am assuming the answer will be yes but an curious
I haven't used this tool on acrylic yet but I do plan on doing so in the future.
Hi! I just tried this and my first pass came out rough feeling, do you think I should have let it go twice to make it smoother? Yours looked more deeper after a first pass than mine did. Suggestions?
Did you go over it with tape? A lot of times it is just debris.

YAY! Happy to help!

I would say you have the wrong one for your machine or you don't have it installed correctly.
Love the video. Can I use the marker engrave blade in my explorer?
The one for the Maker will not work in the Explore. The only one I have found for the Explore is in this video.
Can u make a round sign with this machine I'm brand new to cruicut
You can cut really thin wood with a Cricut. So you could cut out several sheets and glue them together.
Angie be dropping them 💎
Thank you for all the great demonstrations.
Glad you like them!
Great video! I would suggest you snap a quick picture of the instruction guide for the engraving tool with your phone in case misplace it later on.

The link dosent seem to be working?
Which link?
Awesome video and so much great info. Thank you!

The housing tool I bought wouldn’t work on my explorer air 2. It wasn’t long enough to touch the metal.
Did you have it in the machine correctly? Did you get the tool from Amazon?
hello can you make smaller letters for medallions 18 mm?
You can engrave small things just note that the smaller you go the harder it will be to get the alignment correct.
@@AngieHolden thank you 😊
This would be awesome to use to make pet tags for your pets.
Totally!
How do you prime a marker?
Just press down the tip until it starts flowing. Similar to a paint pen if you have ever used one of those.
I tried doing this with acrylic and some one the words weren’t completely engraved and when I tried going for another time it was off.
Might have been your design on a glitch in Design Space. I have had some fonts not engrave correctly.
I think the hardest part is figuring out just what size your font needs to be to fit on what you are engraving
I generally go by what size Cricut Design Space says it will end up as and measure my blank.
Thank you very much.
Darling. Thank you so much. 💞
Any time!
