Scholars usually divide the history of Stoicism into three phases: the Early Stoa, from Zeno's founding to Antipater, the Middle Stoa, including Panaetius and Posidonius, and the Late Stoa, including Musonius Rufus, Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius. No complete works survived from the first two phases of Stoicism. Only Roman texts from the Late Stoa survived.

"Simple Living and High Thinking" has been my Mantra for over 45 years.
I find that my life is a constant process for staying focus on my Mantra.
Actually I love a simple lifestyle. I have considered building a Tiny House in a great location now that I'm 75.

    • @StoicEvolution1
      @StoicEvolution1  ปีที่แล้ว +6

Thank you for sharing your mantra. Your dedication to "Simple Living and High Thinking" embodies a core Stoic value: finding richness in simplicity and depth in thought. At 75, embracing a tiny house reflects the Stoic pursuit of a life unburdened by excess, focused on the essentials. Keep living your truth.❤

I'm truly glad to hear that the video has been a part of your healing journey. Overcoming heartbreak, generational curses, and childhood trauma is a significant and challenging process, and it's commendable that you're actively seeking ways to heal and grow. Stoicism, with its focus on resilience, acceptance, and personal growth, can indeed offer valuable perspectives and tools for dealing with life's hardships. Remember, as Epictetus said, "We cannot choose our external circumstances, but we can always choose how we respond to them." May you continue to find strength and healing on your path. 🌱💖

Such sound advice. I have accepted hopelessness as rational and helplessness as inevitable. I've chosen victimization as my excuse for failing. Failure as an unrecoverable state of being and resignation to it as a mature acknowledgement of our flawed world and suffering as the plight of man. Rejecting material success and healthy relationships as superficial insecurities and loneliness and poverty as independence. Resilience and perseverance is the ability to reject suicide and humility is a willingness to accept subservience and recognize your weaknesses.

The woman settled herself on the bus seat with a small sigh. She felt grateful as warmth returned to her face and hands. The bus was filling up quickly. The woman hoped no one would sit by her, but a woman with a large backpack sat close beside her. "O man!" she thought of how uncomfortable these situations made her. The woman then thought of the stoic wisdom she had been reading. "What is it about the moment that is unbearable?" She realized that the moment was not so unbearable. "In this moment, all is as it should be." The woman felt calm and left the bus at her stop. "Thank you, stoic wisdom." she thought as she stepped forward into he4 day.

What I can't control it doesn't matter because im always in control of how I'll react if I even desire to react at all. ❤

It's great to hear that you enjoyed the connection between Stoicism and daily habits. When it comes to navigating burnout in high-pressure environments, Stoicism encourages us to focus on what is within our control. Recognizing our limits and prioritizing what truly matters can help reduce unnecessary stress. How do you think the practice of reflection and mindfulness could help in preventing burnout in such environments?

I used to mistake indifference for stoicism, but stoicism doesn't disregard emotions. Stoicism is a way of managing emotions.🙂🙂🙂

I had a STOIC Moment when I had to assemble a dest chair I bought and when I opened the box.
I said to myself I CAN'T do this, the word
CAN'T hit me like a ton of bricks.
And 'RESILIENCE' came upon me and I put it together with no problem.
I had defeated myself with, I CAN'T before trying.

This is where the problem of positive thinking at all times is understood. If you do not prepare yourself, you are more susceptible to the weight of a negative situation being greater than if you had already been prepared for it. This is why so many people become depressed and their world stops. They don't have the necessary coping skills built in. (I'm not saying it's the whole reason people become depressed. Just giving an out for some of that stress of hard situations!!!

You can recover and it can happen quickly.
As of right now I don’t have a friend in the world, just narcissists and their co-conspirators, this includes local, small town, law enforcement. My own mother, whom I’ve always been close to has cut me off as well.
Right now I have a vindictive wife fighting tooth and nail in the court system, social media and otherwise to destroy me. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease this summer and have been suffering for 20 years with severe Crohn’s disease. I also am being treated for skin cancer, melanoma. I have had an Ostomy bag for 20 years. I’m living in a group home where I’m neglected and abused.
I’m no longer on psychiatric medications. I’m dropping my blood pressure medication next week and my Parkinson’s medication next. Other than that I take a bunch of vitamins.
On my 50th birthday last Friday, I ran my first 1/2 marathon, another 3 days later. After a bit more than 3 weeks of training I am logging 50 miles a week. I’m registered for my first marathon in early April and I will run a 3.5 hour time, which puts me in the intermediate category. Running a marathon is something no one can EVER take away from me. I don’t date, but I’m extremely good looking for my age, no gray hair, funny and handsome. I’m a semi-professional professional comedy writer and musician. I have a bachelors degree in chemistry and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I’m reading Marcus Aurelius and Senica. Science Fiction and Shakespeare.
I’m joyful and thankful. I have no shame, anxiety and sleep like a baby. The devils unchained forced this lifestyle upon me and I’m grateful to them for it.
The haters will never help, the narcissists would have you murdered, if they thought they could get away with it, but the innocent, but timid, co-conspirator bystanders will help from time to time, only in secret. Always remember, God and karma are on yours side, Fortune favors the bold and God hates a coward.
“Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know.”
