We can’t control the storms around us, but we can control how we react. That’s what Stoicism is all about-finding strength in adversity. Love this content!

These videos have been really helpful to me in so many ways. I used to get angry at the slightest criticism or what I perceived to be criticism and now before allowing my emotions to control me, I pause, reflect and ask myself “can I really control or fix this situation and if the answer is no, I decide to just let it go and focus on myself. These videos are such a great resource and are helping me to reprogram my thoughts and reactions leading me to feel more calm and centered. Thank you so much for these helpful lessons on life!

As I strive to learn more about stoicism , I realize that I was already stoic lol . I didn’t kno this was the name for it or that the way I was even had a name for it , I just always know that whatever I go through in life whatever gets thrown at me I’ll always make it through ! I’ve always had that energy about me . Perspective and perception is key ! The way you look at something is your point of view aka an angle of light from the light spectrum within . Hence why it’s called per-Spect-Ive. Per as in percentage ? Per= each . Spect as in spectrum . Each of our view points act as angles of the light spectrum . If that makes sense

Introduction: Video addresses emotional overwhelm, offering Stoicism as a solution. It promises practical techniques, not requiring extensive training.
    Stoicism Overview:
●Ancient philosophy from Greece and Rome.
●Way of life, not abstract ideas.
●Navigates chaos with strength and clarity.
●Core principle: Focus on controllable aspects, let go of the rest.
●Key figures: Marcus Aurelius (Roman Emperor), Epictetus (former slave), Seneca (philosopher).
●Inner calm: Staying steady despite external events. Not ignoring problems, but mastering reactions.
    Stoic Principles and Techniques:
●Dichotomy of Control: Identify what's controllable (thoughts, actions) versus uncontrollable (external events).
●Perception: Events don't disturb, interpretations do. Focus on reaction, not the event itself (e.g., traffic jam).
●Negative Visualization: Mentally prepare for setbacks; not pessimism, but building resilience.
●Circle of Control: Focus energy on controllable aspects; freeing up energy for growth. (e.g., job interview outcome is uncontrollable, but preparation is controllable).
●Living According to Nature: Accepting life as it is; not settling, but accepting ups and downs.
    Practical Application:
●Pause Before Reacting: Create space between event and response; deep breaths provide this space.
●Negative Visualization: Imagine worst-case scenarios to prepare and build composure.
●Focus on Circle of Control: Prioritize controllable aspects; avoid wasting energy on uncontrollable ones.
●Daily Reflection: Review actions; identify emotional control patterns; journal for deeper reflection.
    Benefits of Self-Control:
●Better Decision-Making: Avoid impulsive choices, driven by reason, not emotion.
●Emotional Resilience: Handle setbacks without being overwhelmed; choose responses.
●Stronger Relationships: Respond with empathy, patience, clarity, even during conflict.
●Managing Modern Life Stress: Stoicism provides a shield against overwhelming stress; set boundaries.
●Freedom: Freedom from emotional imprisonment, impulsive reactions, and external validation.
    Conclusion:
●Self-control is a practice, not a single achievement.
●Start small, choose one technique; reflect daily.
●Video encourages viewers to share experiences; build a community of growth.
●Emphasizes progress over perfection; reclaiming power and choosing who you want to be. Self-control is the key to unlocking the best version of oneself.
