Oh my that is so lovely, welcome and thank you for sharing where you are from and living. This is a tasty beef stew and pastry. I have a few stews on our website if you wish to check them out, www.bonitaskitchen.com and I love you ending with little bit of home. We just released our second cookbook in October 2020 called "A Little Taste of Home" this is the link to that www.bonitaskitchen.com/cookbook I believe it is very important to have a little taste of home leaving away, its not always easy or possible to travel home and I'm so glad to have our site and cookbooks available for everyone from home and away to enjoy. Stay safe and wish your husband a Happy Birthday from me and Raymond. :) Bonita
Hi Bonita, this is a receipie my dear Mum used to make in 1965 in England. Due to illness I have been P.E.G. fed since March, but once well, this is going to the top of my list. Thank you very much. Cheers John.
Hi John: Thank you for your message and I hope you feel better soon, I'm glad you enjoyed our beef stew and pastry recipe and its a old recipe for sure. Years ago there was many mouths to feed and our elders loved to make big meals for more food to go around. Please follow up with me when you can get to make it and tell me what you think. Stay safe and Happy Father's Day if it applies. :) Bonita
Well, this is the second recipe of yours I have made. (I made the cod fish cakes) I swapped out the peas for corn. I thought I had some peas, but the corn worked great. The flavours are ridiculously deep and complex - absolutely amazing. My wife came home and sat down to a nice hot stew... She bought french bread to have with it. (Heated in oven and then buttered) Even though it was 107 degrees F (42C) here in Arizona... it was so delicious. My wife says it is the best beef stew she's ever had. Thanks!
You are very welcome once again, please continue visiting Bonita's kitchen for more delicious meals. Also share them with all your family and friends. Bonita
Thank you very much for the recipe. I had forgotten the shepherds pie with the pastry top. I married a western girl and seems only mashed potato's will do. As a boy mom would do either pastry or dumplings. You are a marvellous cook.

New post to an old Video. YUM YUM! This would be good with any red meat or poultry. I live in Florida now, but in the past I lived in Alaska for 19 years. I wish I knew this recipe then as I always had moose and caribou in the freezer a lot of the time, and the vegetables you used grow good up there in summer (except tomatoes, we always used canned). Great recipe, thanks Bonita :)
That is wonderful, I just share this link with you on your other message, we love stews of any kind and making them the old fashion way got memories and taste. We have so many old recipe and videos on youtube and they are not good quality but the recipe still works great. We thought it was time to share them to get people back to some of our old but lovely recipe and videos. :) Enjoy Bonita

Here in Pennsylvania, we just call this a "meat pie'. I love your use of turnips in the pie. (I'll try it next time.) Otherwise, the recipe is much the same.
You are very welcome and thank you for stopping by, I do have a meat pie recipe here on youtube but this one is made like a stew then covered with a pastry. Thank you for stopping by from Pennsylvania we love to hear about everyones cultural foods, it so cool. Enjoy Bonita from Newfoundland, Canada
Beverley Simmons Sorry I just seen your message I was out shovelling snow, 😊 you can use the leftover roast for this meal just follow all the steps but you don't need to cook the roast any more only warm it up. I've done that before. Bonita
Beverley Simmons You said you don't need the pastry so just keep it in the boiler and let it simmer for the extra time instead of in the oven. Yes for a beef stew. 😊 Bonita
Making this for my husband’s birthday. We are both from NL but live in TX. Enjoyed the video - so nice to have little bit of home 💕
