    #homemaderecipe #shepherdspie #dinner
Please Note: Not wash your ground beef - before using the ground beef from the packaging RINSE with cold water from the tap. This will remove any blood that is sitting at the bottom of the packaging. I hope this clears up any confusion and this is OPTIONAL for anyone to do!
    Ingredients:
    5 Cups Lean Ground Beef
    1 Medium Onion chopped
    4 Medium Potatoes
    2 Carrots
1 Cup Green Peas, Fresh, Frozen or Canned
2 to 3 Tbsp Flour or corn starch
    3 Cups Vegetable broth
Sea Salt and Pepper as needed
Pinch Worcestershire sauce or Maggie’s seasoning
    2 Tbsp Butter
    ¼ Cup Milk
    Olive oil
    Method:
-Start by peeling your potatoes and cube put in a bowl of cold water to wash.
-Then remove cold water and add potatoes to a medium saucepan with warm water to start to boil, then add ½ tsp of sea salt let boil for 10 minutes.
-In a frying pan add 4 cups lean ground beef with a pinch of olive oil, start to fry.
-Then add ¾ of your chopped onion continue frying, add pinch of sea salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce continue frying until it starts to brown. ( you can add more seasonings if you wish)
-Add 1 tbsp flour or corn starch and 1 cup vegetable broth and add carrots and green peas, stir until mixture starts to thicken.
-Remove from heat and pour in a 9 x 13 inch or square glass pan or pan of choice.
-Next remove potatoes from hot water and mash in 2 tbsp butter and milk, until creamy then spread over top of ground beef mixture.
    - Place in a pre-heated 350ºF oven for 30 minutes or until potatoes start to turn a light brown, or golden.
    Gravy:
-In the same saucepan add 1 cup of lean ground beef, pinch sea salt, pepper and start to fry with remainder of your onions, when your mixture start to brown top with Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp flour or corn starch and 2 cup of vegetable broth.
-Bring to a boil and keep stirring until mixture starts to thicken, add more broth if needed.
-Remove from heat serve over shepherds pie after cooked and only over each serving.
I apologize in advance if anything in this video is not clear or miss read, please follow my recipe when making this dish.

Hi Everyone: I've got a few messages from our viewers that is very confused about washing your ground beef first before using it? To sum up the confusion WHAT I MEANT TO SAY is before using the ground beef from the packaging RINSE with cold water from the tap. This will remove any blood that is sitting at the bottom of the packaging. I hope this clears up any confusion and this is OPTIONAL for anyone to do! This is a tasty and very affordable meal and enjoy to the fullest! :) Thank you for stopping by.....:) Bonita

That Gravy sounds delicious, although I would make it thicker, and maybe darker. I think it would go well over a roast beef dinner, but I would add mushrooms, onions and a touch of brandy.

As the original, in Britain, was made with lamb or mutton, it was called shepherds pie (sheep herder’s pie). If it’s made with beef, it’s called cottage pie. I have given up giving the history and always refer to it as shepherds pie!

This is superb! I don't care what the food snobs say, if it is made with ground meat and some veg..covered with potatoes it is shepherds pie. When I was a kid my Mom made almost this exact dish and she was from Oklahoma. My Grand Mother was English so we got to know the correct way to say things......for the record it is pronounced Worshtesha or Wershtasha...or just Wershta sauce lol. This sort of food will send you to bed with nice dreams :). Drop a few...not many, oysters on top of those potatoes and you have something magical. I know there aren't many, but I would like to see some more native foods from around there. Thanks for the vid Bonita :)

Ur are right, it's is a cottage pie and not Shepard's Pie. A shepard didn't shepard cow's lol lol he shepard sheep. All here who say differently are also wrong. My mom made cottage pies and shepards pie many a time and I am A newfie. Question for readers, my mom also made this pie with seal meat, what do you call that one. Don't say flipper pie because she made that also.

Bonita, a beautiful dish but don't get all across-town wit me. That would ha' been betters served with bacon grease rather than olive oil. Usin the broth is a great idea for the nutrients and the flavour. Tink God, ya always use fresh vegetables. Frozen vegetables is good but only when we've got no choice. 4:24...cream! and two, count 'em, two tables spoons of butter. Them tatees on top is good but we chop em up and put them in with the beef and then we make rough-biscuits and lay em on top a the ground beef and cook them about the same amount a time. Ignore them down-voters... shanty-town!
