I have to clean for four hourse straight today, thank you! Now I can listen to some nice roars, slices, and some guy changing subjects as if he were talking to a hundred different people at once(oh wait)
3:07 Not a speedrunner but I would absolutely love the option to be able to skip cutscenes. They could even do the thing where you MUST view the whole thing the first time, but once your game file knows you've viewed a cutscene you can skip it on any new characters you make. Also for THE LOVE OF GOD. LET US PLAY THROUGH STORY QUESTS IN CO-OP WITH OUT HAVING TO DO SOME WEIRD SOS FLARE STUFF AND WAITING FOR CUTSCENES. I'm still so mad I couldn't get my brother into World because of how annoying that was.
1000% agree! For World PC, the cutscene skip mod is on Nexus, its pretty easy to find. Ive also heard aboit a seemless co-op mod for World, but havent looked into it myself...
@@JalBagel Ohh? There might be a coop mod but last I checked some months ago I couldn't find anything... I already have the cutscene skip mod for myself. I don't make new characters even 5% as much as you but it's still useful. :p Nice job on the run btw!
With Wilds supposedly having crossplay, it wouldn't be as useful to me, but I would've loved a built-in skip cutscene in world after playing through multiple times on all 3 platforms 😭 Still no reason not to have a cutscene skip option, though. I could see the hours of cutscenes being a genuine turn off for a very very small amount of people.
Ah, the perfect video to watch while I catch my PC save up to my Xbox save through.... Perfectly legitimate methods.... Like using speed hacks when running around collecting elder dragon tracks because my god that's the worst part about starting new saves tbh. Also, it might be something to consider putting the original streamer date in the description, that's always something I get curious when watching vods on any channel
Good suggestion! I used to do that and just keep forgetting to LOL GLHF with the PC file! FYI I have a video out to help speed up track gathering, made for speedrunning but still works for casual progression.
Video games *can* be art, but they are not art inherently. Games primarily are not a vehicle solely for the devs to express themselves, they're a vehicle to facilitate PLAYER expression first and foremost. Forcing a player to watch a cutscene they don't want to does not facilitate player expression or in any way improve their experience. If you made your game well, players won't want to skip the cutscenes in the first place.
I agree with 99.9% of this. Only thing is if you play a game enough, no matter how good the cutscene is, people will eventually want to skip the cutscene(s).
This is just straight up a lie, I think (as a starter game developer) most game developers do their job because they want to express themselves, as the pay is not always guaranteed if you're not working at a big company. I believe you are referring to the thing he said at the beginning, but this isn't a good example, as Monster Hunter is first and foremost a story game, and not a game to speedrun, he is replaying the whole game for probably the hundredth time so he's skipping the cut scene.
Also, if you really think that the developers make the game for you, I think you need to rethink your approach, I don't and can't know why every other developer is on the market, but for me it's like if I think the market needs a good game in this and that genre, then I'm going to go and do my best to make the game, not because I want you to play it, but to make the game for me, and if someone else wants to play it, then cool, good luck.
Sorry if my replies are a total mess I had a tiring day and just wanted to show my point of view as a developer. Never wanted to be toxic here or flame anyone ^^
@hrfazasz5317 It is not "straight up a lie". I do not discount the dev's will and effort to express themselves, however video games are not like other pieces of art. A dev's ability to express themselves is important, but secondary to the expression they facilitate through their game. It's not like a painting, a TV show, or a movie. It's interactive by the implicit nature of what games are. From the humble card game, the aging board games, and even video games. It is what makes them games.
28:09 even casually playing, I can't just unga bunga anymore. My head won't let me after the thousands of hours in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen 😔 I recently came back to greatsword on a new mhw save after trying it a decade ago and quitting for a few months because I got stuck on the capture lagiacrus quest (didn't know what was key and that I could do the powder stone quest instead) in 3u. It was insane how much easier it made the weapon having *only* thousands more hours lol. I soloed up to Shara without a quest fail. Not something I thought I could do with my main weapons, let alone Greatsword. Perhaps we never truly learn monster hunter, rather it is our unga bunga that becomes more calculated.
Quick question, I'm not that deep into speed running, but When you walk up to the monster, while it's claggert/exhausted, you run up and then go into a backstep, from guard Wouldn't it be faster to do an advancing Slash, from sheath and then go into the backstep? I'm thinking this because the time for an advancing Slash is Mitch shorter than the time required, to walk the same distance, no?
Depends. After I drop from a clagger, backhopping from neutral is generally the fastest. It really just depends on whats happening and my position. If Im not confident I can line up the advancing slash and backhop well I just run up and backup from neutral.
@@JalBagel that clears things up a bit, so it's more about the precision and reliability then the speed, in that case, or did I get it wrong? Anyway thanks for the response!
@@sillezzockt5031 yea and just what I immediately decide on. Im sure in some situations its faster to do an advancing slash but indecision is the enemy of speed LOL
